Hotel David in Florence
This is a gem of a boutique hotel in Florence, across the river Arno but within easy reach of the city centre by short bus ride. We booked on the basis of glowing reviews and were not disappointed! Unassuming in its outside appearance, this place is an eco-friendly oasis – a wonderful safe haven to return to after a tiring day of sightseeing in this marvellous city.
Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable, with a walk-in wardrobe area and large bathroom. We also had a huge balcony terrace with seats, table and sunbeds, overlooking central Florence in the distance.
Breakfast was excellent in pleasant surroundings and though there is no restaurant, there are eating places available nearby. Hotel David also operates a wonderful ‘happy hour+’ from 6.30 – 8.00pm where guests can sit out in the garden and enjoy an excellent range of complimentary wines, beers and snacks. True, there is a busy road nearby with traffic noise, but somehow that fades away in the warm and sociable seclusion of this garden.
The friendly, hard-working, efficient staff are a real highlight of this hotel and we would like to thank them for all their help and conversation, as they made our stay most enjoyable. It was a joy to be at Hotel David and we would not hesitate to book there again on a return to Florence. We highly recommend it to discerning travellers.
