Beware Valty heaters
Several months ago, I bought x2 'Orbis' heaters from Hi-Tec. They were cheap and nasty. One blew out hardly any heat and the other burst into flames. The same company is now advertising a product which looks identical, only they're now calling them 'Valty' heaters. Same blurb. Same 'discount'. I never got a refund from the company, who replied to my emails with conflicting instructions, one of which asked for video evidence. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.
Should be named Lo-Tec
This brand used to have a great reputation but lately the quality has gone down the drain. Use of sub quality materials, visible cracks appearing on my hiking shoes only after a few wears. I glued the outsole and mid sole a few times already to keep it useful. I do some preventative maintainance on my footwear. I looked at the construction and gluing. Hi Tec boots were poorly constructed. Timberland aren't any better. From my small sample, I can say Merrell and shoes from Decathlon are better made and better priced. Review based on Hi-Tec Wildlife Scorpion Mid purchased 2021.
Thank goodness for Trust pilot reviews
Like other contributors, my earlier experiences with Hi Tec products were good. However, my last purchase of walking boots was extremely negative: the uppers turned out to be of cheap plastic which soon cracked in several places, and the rubber section on the front quickly began to separate from the rest of the boot. The Vibram soles, which guided my purchase, turned out to be the only good part of each boot. Having read TP reviews of Karrimor boots, a name which I also once trusted, I shall also avoid their products completely and look for boots made by companies with integrity and that can be trusted.
I have bought 3 pairs of shoes in the…
I have bought 3 pairs of shoes in the last 5 yrs all from different stores and different styles. I have a size 2-3 foot so very hard to buy shoes. Do you just not care about your quality. First pair was hiking boots that started falling apart on their first (and last hike) second was just tekkies, the inner soles just fell out after a few wears and third is the crystal design, sport shoe. The right shoe's elastic is significantly smaller than the left foot so low and behold I need to use a shoe horn since the elastic cannot stretch. Do something about your quality!! Now!

Bought a pair of men's Hi Tec walking shoes size 10 a couple of years ago, which have been only lightly used. The sole of the right shoe at the toe end has completely come away from the upper section. The left is just starting to detach in the same way. These should have lasted much longer than this, so have been a bad buy and I will avoid in future.

Oh my lovely wonderful Hi Tec footwear…
Oh my lovely wonderful Hi Tec footwear company, what happened to my most trusted beloved footwear brand? I'd like to ask. As I've sought, bought and preferred your training shoes and outdoors trail shoes, and walking boots for more than half of my adult life. My favourite trusted footwear brand. My most comfy training shoes Silver Shadows for so many years too. Above all, always before your brand were a perfect fit for me. Back when you could buy a size ten and a half. Then you made eleven that size. Always fitted me perfectly out the box. I never ever had to try them on in the store. Knew size 11 would always fit me perfectly. Except the last pair I bought, it no longer does. Too tight a fit. Comparing with other eleven sizes it's clear to see you've reduced foot sizes in production somewhere or other. The eleven is now really no more than a size ten in trainers and walking trail shoes. No longer fits me. My feet didn't suddenly size change, your footwear did. Gone all smaller sized like Millets terrible own brand footwear have too, the Peter Storm ones. Looks like the construction and quality of build has in recent time declined, gone very badly downhill too. I see this experience I had chimes too similarly to others sad experiences listed here below in other reviews.
Quite shocked. I can no longer trust your shoes I've trusted for a great many years. Very saddened to report. Had to take them back to my local Millets where I bought them from today. I hardly ever take a thing back for refund. Very disappointed.
I have bought this brand religiously…
I have bought this brand religiously for comfort and durability, but starting in 2020 I had a pair of Ravus WP that had hardly been worn 2nd pair in use, noticed the sole parting from upper shoe from the toe area. I contacted Hi Tec in Australia, who made some statement that I had worked in them, (false). Sold me another pair cheap as compensation, 2021 another pair of Quixhill Trail WP has sole separating on both heels, really gone downhill in quality.
Walking boots used for about 6 months…
Walking boots used for about 6 months then upper came away from the sole. Emailed customer services who told me to take them back to the shop. I no longer have proof of purchase therefore that's not feasible. Poor quality product.
I have a pair of Storm WP
I have a pair of Storm WP, absolutely fantastic, comfortable, light and waterproof. Feet they seem as if they nicely wrapped up, very comfy.
Useless, would have got 0 but it's not allowed
I bought these Cyclone mens waterproof trainers from Go Outdoors as they were sold as waterproof, they are nothing of the sort. I only use them for walking my dogs across the fields in the summer, I don't ford the Zambezi but my feet are soaked!
We must have a different definition of waterproof, I thought it would prevent water getting in to my feet. Do not buy these unless you want wet feet!
I contacted Hi Tec via Facebook but got no response, I can only suggest they don't care!
Two pairs of HI-Tec boots developed…
Two pairs of HI-Tec boots developed similar faults after a relatively small amount of use. Namely the body of boot coming away from the soles - this was not just the glue failing, as Hi-TEC customer services insisted, but an inherent fault in the materials. Hi-Tec's answer to this- "This will tend to happen through 'lack' of use". Have you ever heard such a pathetic statement? I will certainly never consider buying this low quality rubbish again. Unfortunately the trustpilot scoring does not appear to allow a 'zero' star rating, so am forced to give an undeserved one star.
I purchased a pair of Hi Tec trainers…
I purchased a pair of Hi Tec trainers just over a year ago,I have only just started wearing them due to Covid. After wearing them only three times both trainers split in two different places. I will never again knowingly buy anything manufactured in China.
Good customer service for once
I bought a pair of HI TEC Storm WP boots approximately 18 months ago.
With light to moderate use they developed a fault, not ideal but happens sometimes. Since most things are made in a Far Eastern factory we never see nowadays the only thing we really have is customer service to judge companies by.
I sent the boots back to HI TEC, they could of claimed no receipt or more than 12 months but they didn’t. They stood by the product and replaced them, so fair play to them I say.
Despite a failure, I would buy the brand again solely for their good will and the attitude that they will back the customer when it goes wrong.
Thank you and please keep it up.
I bought bought a pair of men’s Koga…
I bought bought a pair of men’s Koga sandals 3 months ago, I had a similar pair that lasted a couple of years and hoped that these would do the same however the soles have already started to split and the heals have caved-in, this is after only moderate use and I weigh less than 9 stones.
Don’t buy these sandals they’re rubbish.
Hi tec aysgarth DOE walking boots
Hi tec aysgarth DOE walking boots ..lasted about 4 months before the soles came off and the lace loops come off. Keep your reciept and get a new pair every couple of months!!
As others say Hi Tec used to be good
As others say Hi Tec used to be good. I find soles good and uppers useless. I'd like a Clarks upper on a Hi Tec sole. That might make a good boot!
Terrible
Terrible, wish I'd read these reviews before purchasing. Not Used heavily but the boot has come away from the sole, the tops are peeling, the stitching has all broken. Just rubbish
Great walking shoes
Rubbish shoes
Hi-tec shoes are suppose to be worth the money but it's rubbish. My son bought a pair in South Africa and left for Ireland. Three months later and he can throw it in the bin. Coming loose on top where it can't be fixed. Got photos to prove it. He is a Dr and doesn't climb mountains and rocks. Walk on normal road and office surface. Absolutely disgusting. Will never advise anybody to buy Hi-tec. Not worth the money. Makes one sick to the core. So he is stuck with broken shoes and Hi-tec makes money.
