The vehicle smelled like an ash Tray

The vehicle smelled like an ash Tray.
When I rented the car I informed the person at the counter I may need to extend for two days. I asked if I should extend then to get the better rate or, if I would be allowed the discounted rate at the time I determined I needed to extend. I was informed that I could continue at the reduced rate. When I called to extend, I was informed that I would be charged at standard rate, which for two days was the cost of the entire week.
