My husband rented a full size SUV - Tahoe or similar. The counter agent asked if my husband would like to upgrade to a Suburban. He said the rate was going to be an extra $400 per day which was ludicrous. The agent then asked if we had Costco membership which we did - it lowered it to $80 per day. My husband accepted it thinking that was the best rate. When I spoke with him later that night and found out what he did - I told him that he was taken advantage of. Our Corporate Discount rate should have been applied (as it was on the original reservation). The really disappointing part was - if he had just done a walkup/last minute booking, the rate would have been even lower than the corporate discount. I tried working with the local counter - which is a Franchise location of Hertz. They never called me back. My next step was working with Corporate who said they couldn't help because it was a Franchise and copied in the branch manager. The manager simply stated - my husband signed the contract and that was that. I once again explained what happened and asked for a credit on the difference of what should have been charged. They refused to do so. Definitely WOULD NEVER RENT from this this HERTZ Location every again and telling our friends to AVOID them too. Hertz had the opportunity to right a wrong and blew the chance.
