If I could give zero stars I would - HIDDEN COSTS

If I could give zero stars I would. Be careful: this bank is NOT free, it just actively hides costs in a manipulative way. Not enough in your account to cover a bill? That's over 7 euros in administrative costs (even though they have zero work on it) instead of declining it. 51 small PayPal transactions I was unaware of resulted in 355 euro costs. Not a single human emotion or sign of understanding is shown. Daylight robbery from a near criminal organisation - going back to ING now. Do NOT use this bank!!

Words fail me truly appalling

Not even worth one star I find it almost impossible to comprehend this bank. They close your accounts stating they are imposing article 14 which means they can do what they want when they want with no reason. Truly a cowardly bank you treat your customers appallingly. Maybe I just don’t make them enough money after all pensioners don’t have that much money left each month!

This bank is disaster

This bank is disaster. Opened account on 8th January, now is 16th and no pin, no card. Called to customer service several times and they don't know anything and can't do anything. Additionally if I want to close it, then I have to bring them attest from new bank whats extra efforts and time to lose for nothing.
NEVER EVER CHOOSE THIS BANK!

Very bad experience

Very bad experience. I had my bank account blocked and impossible to know the reason. I called the help center, which says that they will investigate and call me back but never happened. When I called for a second time they said a letter was sent to my old address and they can not do anything on the phone. When I offer to resolve the issue at their office the person rudely said"you choose for a free account, we do not offer that kind of service”

When you brake the nerves of people…

When you brake the nerves of people with your sh!tty ads louder than every other ads on Spotify, you really think we will open an account to your bank. Damned, I just hate you now and will never concider opening an account. Think twice before making aggressive advertising!

plainly bad

Very expensive extra costs, taking me 4 months now to delete my account.
There are easier, cheaper and better options

Quite an appalling "online" bank.

They call themselves an online bank, but for basically every fart, you need to call them (waiting lines, this isn't the 90's anymore) or physically go to an office.

The app took years to update, and even then, the UI/UX design is still bad. It's time to hire a decent UX/UI firm.

Avoid them if you expect easy, customer friendly, banking.

Hello bank is part of BNP Paribas Fortis.. Which basically means I'll avoid them both.

Absolutely appalling

No English advisers are ever available, despite this being a selling point from them. Appalling customer service anyway. Confusing tech. Not as advanced as they look--they sometimes tell me to "go into a branch". Where?

Avoid.

Terrible bank for expats

Terrible bank for expats. You cannot download the app if you do not use the Belgian app store.

The account creation process is slow, inefficient and purely email based. Nothing is digital behind the facade.

The customer service is completely insane. They even suggested me to close the account.

No 0/5 star option enjoy my money

No 0/5 star option: If you want to be stuck in London with no access to your money, no solution, no sincere apology then this is the bank for you. If like me this sounds like additional stress you wish to steer clear from then i suggest to leave Hello bank or never join up in the first place.
The 50 euro sign up sounds tempting but when they block 500+
euros from your account leaving you stranded in your London office with no money- it is not a risk you should take (unless you live for grey hairs and high blood pressure).

Poor customer service no accountability no response from managers all I get is 'sorry you receive letter I don't know' hellobank is like your 60 year old dad putting on a cap and trying to be 'hip' and 'down with the kids' it's endearing at first but then gets annoying. This company is stuck in the 90s and would not resent my letter to the temp UK address- imagine all your money is with them then one day with no reason they block you... leaving you in a foreign country with no access to your money to way of giving you your money no compensation nothing....

This company is so gross and again 1/5 is a kind score you frauds deserve 0/5. My advice get the 50 euros transfer it to ING or a more trusting bank and then close your account with them.

A bank that doesn’t work 90% of the time

I really really tried to stay with Hello Bank, I honestly did. I gave them one more chance each time they screwed up. But, leaving me without a chance to withdraw money and see my balance on a work trip in Asia? (Even though I activated my card for non-EU countries) sorry HelloBank, I’m out!

Here are the issues I’ve encountered:

1) The app barely ever works in general! You cannot login, make a transaction most times. Or it shuts down!

2) There’s nobody working at the English speaking customer service, literally never connected with one for the past year. Always have to beg a Dutch speaking customer care agent to communicate in English.

3) The bank’s call center, app and website have been down at the same time numerous times, for hours, one time for a day!

4) Absolutely unreliable when traveling! This one is the reason I’m leaving HelloBank! I couldn’t withdraw or see my balance during my trip! Can you imagine how terrifying and embarrassing that is? Contacted customer service 4 times throughout my trip, and no response!

Rename to SlowBank. Received my salary late due to this

More than a month since I started the process of opening an account in this so-called mobile bank ! Have made 5+ customer support calls. Finally even sent an email with my complaint, no response. The customer support number gives automated message only in Dutch! Very bad customer service. As a student, I could not get my first month's scholarship only because of their over-performing proactive support team. Kudos ! Keep up the great work of stripping people their right to enjoy their first pay !

Worst service you can get in Belgium

Worst service you can get in Belgium. I waste of human time, intelligence and resources. Cleaning a street is more useful for the society than working for Hello Bank. I think street sweepers would also have more pride in their work. I can't imagine anybody saying: yes, I'm happy with the service I do at Hello Bank.

The app is mega slow and doesn't at all. It's not like it's a temporary technical failure. Half of their services don't work at all. Everything that does work goes suuuper slow. All their processes are just incredibly poorly designed. Just to set up your bank account it will take you more than a month, 4 or 5 letters sent to your house and you need to make minimum 2 phone calls plus minimum 1 email sent. The list of things that are wrong with this bank are just endless. I think they are the only bank in belgium which doesn't have a working English website.
