Let me open with the fact that overall, I'm quite satisfied with it. I had no real expectations coming into it, and it did not disappoint me. I will say - it has it's limitations. There is a lack of dynamic control (no functional crescendo, decrescendo, etc.) and the majority of the midi voices are pretty terrible - to the point that it makes it difficult to notate for anything that's not a guitar or drum set. That said, the actual guitar and drum sounds are beyond what I had expected, the interface for notation is pretty streamlined and easy to use, and let's be honest - for the price, this thing outperforms. My first piece of music composition software was Noteworthy Composer back in the 90's... when midi's were like 8-bit Nintendo voices at best. Even then, that was $40. For this to be only $70 three decades later, it is an excellent deal. For the price and the quality, a solid 5 stars.

I first used Guitar Pro 16 years ago, when I was in high school. I used it on and off through the years and recently purchased a new license. I'm reminded why I used it so much some years ago. It's an awesome software and I recommend it to every guitarist, new and old. I love that I can print my music and the readability on the screen is awesome. The price is a steal too, especially with multiple licenses.

I’ve been a Guitar Pro user for almost 20 years already—great tool!

I'm a newby at drumming and purchased GP8 Pro as that is what my music teacher uses and sends me .mp3 files to load and practice with. Pity one can't add notation to the file when added. Could the .mp3 files not be encapsulated when adding a track so I can listen and add my own notation? (Copyright issues?) Still finding my way around, but really enjoying the experience

I purchased Guitar Pro 8 with w simple task in mind that turned out to be anything but simple with the program. I found it difficult to find information on how to use the program or work through its unfriendly user interface. Given the amount of frustration and expense to solve this simple task I had in mind, I now wish I had not spent the money of this poorly configured product. After the initial encounter, I have not been back as frustration is not high on my list of "wants."

Extremely powerful piece of software - I have only scratched the surface of what it can, but for my use (learning/practising songs) it is better than I thought it would be. Love the fact that it is a one off purchase for v8 and not a monthly subscription.

Overall this program offers very, very good value for the money.
The feature to import an audio file and then allowing to write the score along with it, is FANTASTIC. While transcribing bass lines of players I like, I can immediately hear if what I write, perfectly matches what was played in the original: wonderful way to learn writing and reading scores. With an incredible help: everything can be slowed down as much as you need, without sounding like 'smurfs'.
Perhaps a small opportunity for improvement: some other notation softwares offer the possibility to drag a note in place with the mouse cursor, higher or lower pitch, very convenient, without the need to revert to a keyboard shortcut. Or perhaps I am overlooking something that already exists?
Keep up the good work!

Fantastic piece of software. I’m new to transcribing and this has made the whole process so much easier for me. I can now transcribe very quickly and efficiently. Still have tested all features and suspect there is a lot more to learn.

I've been using Guitar Pro since 2003 and I adore it, it's incredibly easy to use and I can find my way around it with joy. As my compositions got more complex, I found the function missing was having polyrhythmic tracks. Track 1 in 4/4, track 2 in 3/4, etc. Implementing this should be their next step. Thank you!

I think it's about as simple to use as it could be given the complexity of what the app does. In particular, the keyboard shortcuts work really well, and I usually default to them once I look something up once or twice in the different menus.
Some of the default fonts are a little small and light for my aging eyes to easily see once the sheet is printed out. There's a way to set your own defaults, but I've been too lazy so far to dig into it much (maybe on my next song).
I guess that about sums it up. This app can do just about anything you would want it to do once you learn how - and learning how is usually just a quick google search to about a zillion Reddit posts and any number of YouTube videos. I would recommend it to anyone who needs to write or edit tabs now and then.

The best part about this software is the fact that you can write notes & tabs for any western instrument. It helps to create backing tracks and even indicates if the notes in the measure are not adding up. There's so many features and functions inside this app, making it a great choice to create sheet music or backing tracks. The RSEs are pretty good. But they can improve the cymbal sounds for drums (although it's not really meant to create good drum tracks). The latency issue for connected instruments must be improved. Love the fact it only requires a one time payment for lifetime access, unlike it's competitors. Overall, it's a very versatile application for anyone in the music field.

Easy to use and works great. Had to YouTube a few things but really enjoying the program.

I have been using Guitar Pro mainly to transcrtibe and arrange my own music, for which it is an invaluable and easy-to-use tool. At other times I review sheet music of songs that I have to learn, and Guitar Pro helps me practice my parts before the band rehearsals.

It's good, but I need a better chord copying feature. The special paste is not intuitive.

This is quite a good tool. I have started to use it to help put together chord-melody arrangement of tunes. My one big difficulty in use is troubles associated with the imported audiofile, a truly remarkable feature! But getting the tempo just right is often difficult. It is usually right for quite a few bars at the beginning, but then can drift off the mark. This could be either the tempo I entered is not quite right, perhaps even off by a fraction of BPM. Or, the source could be wandering a bit (think Money by Pink Floyd, though I have not worked on that one...). The process for adjusting the measure markings is not very intuitive, and I often find myself really off after a few minor tweaks. So, either beef up the documentation there or give some detailed tutorials on how to make these adjustments.
Otherwise, great tool, I have gotten pretty used to how to enter notes quickly, add chord diagrams, etc.

I love that this is a one-time purchase without subscription! Amazing value, super useful tool. Thanks for your generosity and non-greedy company values!

I love the ease of use for writing tabs. I am a lap steel guitarist and would love to see lap steel as an option for instruments.

Very nice program. Thr learning curve is a little steep. It is not always obvious how to achieve certain tasks such as line breaks. It is easier to do a Google ai search for instructions than to use the help function.

I work as an electric guitar instructor.
Guitar Pro 8 is intuitive to use and has proven extremely helpful.
It is an essential tool for both score preparation and instruction.

Great app!
The downsides:
1. When the new version comes out "magically" the older one stops working even though it is license for life
2. When trying to adjust the view it is not that flexible.
