Really excellent after-care customer service and support. All my queries have been dealt with efficiently and all the information I needed provided. In addition to resolving my problem James sent some great videos to help with the fitting of the new fixtures, which I needed as diy isn't my strong point!

We received excellent management by a consultant who guided us through the whole process and explained everything clearly. We were shown all the rooms and fittings and given great detail about the process and options.
The surveyor was clear and gave excellent advice on what we needed to do to prepare the ground ready for the building.
The team that laid the base / floor and the main construction team were polite, hard working and highly efficient. They assembled the building and finished it to a very high standard. The process was quick and well managed.
The electricians and Internet team (Homepower) were excellent and figured out the best ways to lay cables to power up the room. When I had difficulty with the Internet a technician came back to the property within a few days and sorted the problem quickly and efficiently.
The IT system / web portal made it easy to see and manage the order and the timelines for the project.
This is a truly excellent company with a superb product. Our room is stunning and we are over the moon with it.

I decided to formalise my complaint with Green Retreats (which I technically had not done by this point). They sent a team to investigate the structural elements of the garden office. They discovered issues associated with the original installation related to the packing around the windows. They have subsequently refunded me the money I spent with a 3rd party glazier to replace the windows.
I'm pleased they addressed the issue, and with the refund, and I totally understand that you can't control all elements of all installations.
I remain slightly disappointed that I had to formalise my complaint before they sent a team to investigate, given I had already fully explained the circumstances including the fact that both window panes had shattered (which always felt exceedingly unusual). However I have re rated this review as a 4, as the problem has been identified and fully addressed, including a refund of my costs.

Original review: We bought a garden office from Green Retreats about 5 years ago. The office has a sliding French door, with two double glazed panels.

Nine months ago, just over four years after installation, one of the French window glass panels spontaneously shattered (the inside pane).

I contacted Green Retreats who advised that it was outside of their 3 year warranty period and so they would not be able to cover the replacement of the window pane or would not even make a contribution towards the replacement costs.

Spontaneously shattering glass panes are rare. However, I accepted that it can happen, even though I didn't happen to know anyone to whom this had happened. So I replaced the window at my own expense.

Then last month the other French window pane spontaneously shattered. Again the inside pane. So that's both panels spontaneously shattered just roughly 5 years after installation!!!

Now if one window spontaneously shattering is rare, then for both window panes in a two-pane French door to spontaneously shatter must be exceptionally rare. Indeed I was now convinced there must be a quality issue with their glass panes. Given this had now happened to both of the windows, only five years after installation, I felt certain that Green Retreats would want to help put this right. Two rare events are statistically extremely unlikely to happen in this way, on the same french doors.

I got in touch immediately with Green Retreats. They reviewed this in their technical team meeting at the end of the week, and I assume decided that by contributing to replacing the 2nd pane that they would be admitting their product was sub standard.

I was extremely disappointed and also very surprised that they did not offer to replace the 2nd french door pane free of charge, or at least offer a contribution towards the replacement of the 2nd pane.

French door panels spontaneously shattered within 5 years of buying the garden office? It smacks of a POOR quality product.

I discussed this with the glazier who ended up replacing the shattered pane and he was amazed that Green Retreats didn't offer to help. Surely either they or their glass supplier would recognise that two spontaneously shattering windows in 5 years is absolutely ridiculously unlikely.

I am still considering legal action on this matter. Whilst I accept the warranty period was 3 years, I think there is a reasonable period of time that you would expect a product to last. 5 years for both of 2 windows panes is NOT a reasonable period of time.

Given the need to ensure the garden office is usable and no longer dangerous, I had no choice to replace the pane at my expense.

I have now replaced c £2,000 of French door windows in the 5 years since installation.

So....I would URGE you to avoid the same experience and buy your garden office elsewhere.

Start to finish, the team at Green Retreats looked after us, answered our questions, and delivered an excellent product and service at the end of it.

From our initial designs online and consultation at the showroom (excellent coffee, ice creams and attention to looking after the family), to Jess in the delivery team who ensured we had all the information we needed at every stage of the journey.

Onsite, the delivery and build teams were faultless. Polite, professional and thorough - the groundwork, build of the room itself, and the final fixtures and fittings were all completed in a timely fashion and to top spec.

We’re very happy with our Basebox, what we’ve achieved for our budget and would recommend Green Retreats wholeheartedly.

The garden room looks great and everyone we worked with was very friendly!

I have given 4 stars in my review because it took nearly 2months for someone to come and fix a non- locking door. On the day however, the service was excellent, the technicians arrived right on time and did a very thorough service and repair.
Just a pity it took that long to get it done.
I would still reccomend this company however.

A company is only as good as its after sales service. I've had 2 problems with my Green Retreats building

Firstly an issue during installation that meant it leaked, requiring the flooring had to be replaced (I had to remove the full room of gym equipment myself)

My second issue was a sliding door window that shattered during the recent hot weather, just a couple of weeks after their limited 3 year glazing warranty expired. They offered no support and quoted £880 and a 6-8 week lead time for replacement

I wouldn't use them again.

Three years on we are still loving our GR garden room! It still looks great and an integral part of the garden. We were so impressed at the service from GR at the time we bought it which was professional, timely and friendly throughout. GR team were always so responsive to our questions and oversaw the whole process so efficiently.

Excellent after care service from both James & the office aftercare staff & engineering team who visited today.

Over the last few weeks, locking the sliding door has gradually required more force to achieve due to a door/frame misalignment greater than I could correct with the adjustment screws after watching the video tutorial.

A team arrived today & it was sorted under warranty in 30 min or so & now requires hardly any force to be applied to latch & lock.

Our Garden Studio has been excellent- I just wish we had added another metre in length at the planning stage!

Great service from start to end with excellent customer service interaction from Sogna. The team provided all the information required and made the process of building the garden office as seamless as possible. Great experience and excellent product.

We were very impressed with the welcome and service we got today and we found all the staff very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Georgie we found was excellent and knowledgeable. We placed an order but did not feel in any way forced to do so.

Toni was extremely helpful and very professional. The product line is great and highly configurable. A good experience.

There are so many things to choose from and the range of garden rooms is fantastic. The quality is excellent and Zaynab was incredibly knowledgeable and talked to us about every possible option we could choose and what was and wasn’t allowed within permitted development.

The showroom was absolutely brilliant - much more than we expected. Very welcoming staff but no pressure or hard sell. They gave us time to look around ourselves but were always on hand to help with any questions. Really useful to see so many examples of their rooms in the flesh.

Purchased 7 years ago, after visit to showroom. Excellent sales service, excellent delivery and installation. Only one very small issue but fixed immediately. Now 7 years later needed small replacements, wonderful after sales, offer free of charge. Maybe small things but these make you feel you are being taken care of. I am sure if larger problem they would be very good, after 7 years we expected to pay something.

Excellent, professional service led by polite, professional and courteous team.
Our office is ...coming up...five years, and to have this level of support and service is unique, and so valuable.

We started our journey with Green Retreats a decade ago.
With a new product, bespoke design and in-house construction, I expected to have experienced a few teething and bedding in issues.
No matter how small or insignificant the matter was, Green Retreats wanted to hear about it. Our room was built for me by the GR team. They wanted it to be perfect, as did I.
So, even if I thought I could fix it with their guidance they weren't interested in me doing anything. A team was either dispatched or a nearby team diverted. I can not fault the attention to detail, aftersales care, camaraderie, helpfulness and friendliness of anyone in the team. Brilliant.

In fact so good, I have recommended them to people I work for or with along with family and friends looking for a garden room.

It's a 10 from me!
