Multipanel Boards - Faulty
We ordered Multipanel boards from a local bathroom supplier - who sourced these from Grant Westfield. After approximately 6 weeks the boards in the shower started blowing at the joins. One board was even peeling . The supplier asked Grant Westfield to send an area rep to inspect the boards. They refused, stating that after examine photographs of the damage they can clearly see that the installation was what was causing the issue, siting not enough or no silicone was used along the hydralock join. The installer explained that he had fitted over 100 bathrooms with the Multipanel product and never before had he seen this problem, that he believed the boards were faulty. Eventually, after 10 months of emails, telephone calls etc, the boards were replaced by the supplier. One month later, 1 of the boards has blown again. This time we ask another bathroom fitter to come and assess the Multipanel board in the shower. He said that he also believed it was a fault with the board he also advised that the lack of silicone would not have caused the intermittent bubbling at the hydralock join - if it was a silicone issue all of the join would be blowing, also only 1 board was affected this time, if it was an installation issue surely every board in the shower would have the same problem at the join. I asked if this sort of issue could happen twice, and was told yes, faults can alway occur at the time of manufacturing, that we may have been unlucky enough to have been supplied boards both times from the same faulty batch. I contacted Grant Westfield again, but again they refused to come out to assess and again refused to honour their 30 year warranty, stating yet again that this was an installation issue and thus would not be covered by their warranty. The bathroom was only installed 15 months ago. Multipanel are supposed to be an excellent product, but even excellent products can be faulty. What if you are unlucky enough to be sent faulty panels- you will not get this resolved at all by Grant Westfield, who will not honour their warranty and point blank refuse to rectify any issues, apportioning blame to the installer without any reasonable investigation at all and no real explanation as to why, if it is an installation issue, only 1 board is affected. I really would think twice about using this company- they really do not care about their customers at all, and their 30 year warranty is absolutely worthless!
