Not very happy with the Colchester branch, had an appointment to obtain a second key for my Nissan Qashqia, which was a 40 mile round trip, only to be told after 20 minutes of arrival, that the key ha... See more

Renault Chelmsford - AVOID
Renault Chelmsford
Had my car 3 months, damaged my car and not taken responsibility.
Customer care don’t want to help at all.
Wanted to charge me £25 a day for having my car on site as was waiting for warranty resolution but then once it was sorted I have to wait a further 2 weeks so I’m without a car even longer!
Reported an issue with my car in November and this also isn’t sorted out.
Avoid these bunch of clowns
Glyn hopkin are definitely the worst …
Glyn hopkin are definitely the worst dealership in the whole of the u.k .The reviews on trust pilot speak volumes .Following on from my previous reviews I still get phone calls from them asking if I would like any of there poor quality service even though I have told on numerous occasions not to contact me ever again .I would not have anything from glyn hopkin ever again and would not recommend them to anyone .They are as credible as The legend that called himself Prince Andrew, peado mandleson and Angela Raynor.
Con artists - All lies and trying to make money
Con artists. I have evidence. 2 cars went in, both they said needed new brakes and tyres within 6 months. I went to Kwikfit who informed me everything was pretty much brand new. Nothing needed. One car apparently had a broken spring but under warranty - 1 year later and 7 calls, no one will talk to me or call me back. 100% SCAM. Go to Kwikfit as they have no agenda.
New car purchase
From the first point of contact at the colchester dealership to the buying process and explanations of queries from the salesman everything was perfect. Would recommend
Had B service yesterday and driving my…
Had B service yesterday and driving my renault capture home, the brake warning light and audable alarm kept coming on and car dying as I was driving. Contacted them to collect car and been told it's my job to join RAC to get roadside assistance. Told them to get car picked up and fixed ASAP and provide hire car why they fix fault they caused. I will update when resolved. This was at chelmsford branch
Very good service
Thank you Will you are a credit to Glyn Hopkin.
Very helpful, not pushy in the least, went through everything with me and made sure I had the right car for me. I am very happy with my purchase.
When you sell a car remove it from sale!!
I tried buying 2 cars this week from Glyn Hopkins, and was told they were already sold despite them still being advertised for sale.
Both were sold a few days previously but the staff were too lazy to remove the listings.
As of now, both cars are still showing as available!
Today I went to a rival dealer group who actually had a car for sale and I bought it.
Not that difficult is it Glyn Hopkins!
Bishop Stortford Nissan needs to be closed down
I really should know by now that the customer service will be atrocious at the Bishop Stortford branch but somehow I keep thinking they might have upped their game just slightly. How wrong could I be! I purchased a car in May and the handover went catastrophically badly. Since then the car has developed a number of different noises which I have on video and have sent them. They then booked it in for today. After only a few minutes of looking they were back to tell me nothing is wrong. Bear in mind that one of the faults reported was the power cutting out when pulling out of a junction. I then had about 2hours of going back and forth for them to then change their story to ‘the noises are within tolerable limits’ (so eventually admitting they could hear them after being told they couldn’t) and being laughed at when I said the car was dangerous with the power failure. I picked this up with the service team and the man who had laughed said that it wasn’t dangerous and it was offensive to him for me the day his cars are dangerous!! I asked to look in one of the used cars for sale to see if that made the same noise and the service assistant just walked off and never asked them leaving me sat there again until I had to go and find someone myself.
I was then promised that this would be escalated to the Director who had dealt with my previous appalling experience but I’ve still not heard back from them.
This dealership needs closing down. The sales are terrible and as I have now learned the service team are as bad, if not worse.
Customer Treatment from Watford Glyn Hopkin
I booked a test drive for myself and my wife on 6th October at GLYN HOPKIN in Watford.
On arrival at 1.55pm, the salesman told us that ‘his manager knew it was booked for us at 2pm… but had taken the car to lunch!’. He said he'd sort it.
After 30 minutes of being ignored and left on our own, I found the salesman again.
He then told us ‘the manager had in fact taken the car to London for the afternoon to meet a colleague’.
He said he would bring the car to my home, another day. So at least he understood what customer care should be.
But I declined and said I wanted his manager to call me to explain himself first, but after three days wait and hearing nothing… although I've never written a bad review before, I feel I have to write this.
I was so angry, I walked out.
That the ‘manager’, knowing it was booked and having more than 100 other cars on the forecourt to chose – felt we didn't matter, because he was obviously more entitled to take out the only MG IM5 model in the showroom. He didn't care about us or wasting our time and money - or losing his company a new car sale...
I felt… ‘if that’s how he thinks customers should be treated! If he doesn’t believe he should show his staff that customer care always comes first.‘
THEN I WILL BUY FROM ELSEWHERE.
Arrogant salesperson - Chris avoid him
After four separate attempts to arrange a simple test drive of the EV9 at Romford Branch, I was met not with assistance, but mockery and condescension. Chris, the salesperson, literally told me it was like asking to test drive a Bugatti I “couldn’t afford.” Unsure how that was fathomed over a call. This was the second time he behaved with rudeness.
Let me be very clear: this is completely unacceptable, humiliating, and unprofessional. A dealership’s role is to serve potential customers with respect and courtesy, not to make them feel embarrassed for showing genuine interest.
This experience was a textbook example of how not to treat a customer. I left feeling insulted, undervalued, and angry. I do not recommend this dealership given their 2.3 rating it isn't suprising, unsure how google reviews shows 4 stars which is why i reached out in the first place. I urge anyone who values basic respect and professionalism to look elsewhere.
If management wants to salvage their reputation, I suggest retraining staff immediately, because this level of arrogance, discrimination and rudeness is unacceptable in any industry.
Update:
Chris emailed me with Subject "manager follow up" but the email was from him. I declined his help. Then again today 11 Oct he calls me acting oblivious to his rude arrogant behaviour that he was not aware of this, i simply put the phone down having explained I am not interested and to remove my details from their database. Clearly the auto reply message below never gets routed to the team. Absolutely a joke! Zero stars for them.

Great experience.
Jason was a really great salesman. Very helpful and professional. Really pleased we came to this dealership in Chelmsford to buy our BYD.
Thank you.
Shambolic
Dreadful. I put a deposit down for an MG4 EV 42 days ago. The next day I was told that they had got the price of the car wrong. I am still waiting to be refunded, despite repeatedly chasing. I should have known something was awry with this showroom, when I had to search through both kitchens in the showroom to find a clean cup. This place is a shambles. In those 42 days, Malcolm and Chloe have failed to respond to my requests for a contact in customer complaints. AVOID this place. I got on a 90 minute train to purchase my car, which tells you all you need to know.

The worst after sales service
Been buying cars there for years, but they stopped selling fiats leaving me high and dry with a contract they are not interested in helping with and a fault with the car that I can't get fixed - its dangerous to drive and they only company I can find that will fix under warranty doesn't have an appointment for 2 months. Their service department still does fiats but won't do anything other than servicing - a joke. Save yourself the stress and give them a very wide berth!

Unprofessional and disappointing
Overall my experience was not greatest at all, I found a second hand car for sale at this garage having all the features I wanted, good mileage, perfect colour, not to far away, so seemed like the perfect fit. So I went ahead and started the process with contacting the garage and getting more information and video of the car, I was happy with the information provided and decided start the process of purchasing the vehicle via a third party finance company. The communication was not an issue at the very beginning but became quickly apparent that I was the one chasing for updates on the purchase and when the car would be ready for me to collect which to me just seemed a bit unprofessional but I took that on the chin and after couple weeks with my finance company taking a bit longer then expected, finally I was able to pick the vehicle up.
I arrived at the garage and saw the car before going into reception and externally the car looked really nice and made me feel really happy with my choice and put my mind at ease. The salesman I was dealing with throughout the process was off so dealt with a colleague who got all my paperwork sorted and was very helpful. Once payment was made I was able to get the keys for the car and have a look inside the car, it didn’t look like they’d given much care to the inside like they did the outside, the parcel shelf was broken and drivers side floor mat had a hole in it which wasn’t a game changer but being a main dealership I thought that these small items could of been replaced quite easily. They also said they would do any relevant works to the car mechanically and damage wise before I picked it up, so they had the alloys refurbed, MOT’d, serviced and rear disc and pads done. Being a main dealership I did not think to do a thorough visual check on any of the mechanical items, so I shook the salesman’s hand and left the garage forecourt.
Two months down the line I did an oil top up on my other vehicle which made me curious to check mine. Which lead me to find out that my oil levels and coolant were below the minimum, obviously this should not of been the case if they had “serviced” the car considering by this point I had only done around 2,000 miles. I decided to contact the salesman and question whether if the car had even been serviced at all, his words were that he watched the mechanics service the car with his own eyes, which just sounded abit odd to me. He also said that I must have a major leak and to get it checked out with my warranty (which I didn’t even know I had) even though I park in the same place every day and had already checked for this prior to the email and phone call but there was not one spec of oil on the road which just lead me to believe the garage had not done the service. After trying to get the car checked under my warranty I couldn’t find anywhere that I was covered with the warranty so decided I would jack the car up myself and inspect the undercarriage of the car to find not one spec of oil or coolant. The funny thing is, since I topped it up the coolant has not dropped and oil has dropped at a normal level.
Now being 7 months and 6,200 miles down the line, I have just had my front pads done and a health check done at my local Ford garage. Lo and behold my rear brake pads are at 5mm and need changing very soon, the garage told me that on average, pads should last around 15-20,000 miles . I haven’t even bothered to question the garage about because I’m sure the salesman would make up some nonsense, I’m sure he would promise me that they were done as he “saw it with his own eyes” but I don’t have the patience or time to listen to someone lying to me down the phone.
I can only presume that the service and breaks were not done, just a fake invoice to help with the sale of the car which really shows the type of person and garage that you’re dealing with. This is my mode of transport to work but more importantly my mode of transport for my family and to think a “Trusted Garage” would sell you a vehicle that has not been maintained correctly before sale (even though you are told it has all been done) as well as poor pre and after care is a disgrace and very disappointing because the car itself is a very nice example.
I would really recommend doing any thorough checks on any vehicle from this garage if you’re brave enough to buy from this place.

I’m genuinely interested in purchasing a vehicle from your dealership and was hoping to move forward with the process. However, I’ve been surprised by the lack of engagement from your sales team despite my clear interest particularly given today’s competitive market climate.

Good sales-Terrible after sale support
Good sales-Terrible after sale support
Brought new car in June and reported tow cover defect.
No follow up or instruction/ direction to resolve the issue. I have been chasing hard and went through all the department, the problem still hanging. It is very hard to get them to support. I felt like you have to bet them to help to resolve the issue, and you are the customer. They cant even deliver a standard after sale support. When they promoted the car, they showed the promising of the full support, 7 years warranty. In fact, this doesn't mean anything after you fully purchased it.
To date, the issue still not been resolved and no follow up. This is stressful and time consuming chasing them.

Sale good but after sales are terrible.
sale good but after sales are terrible.
I was missing a piece of trim from a brand new car and not been able to get anyone to help..
They say they will help out, but no one follows up for the missing trim part.
So far 4 months after purchase, still have a missing piece of trim!

Useless MG sales time wasters
Useless MG sales time wasters at Milton Keynes.
Conversation: do you match price?
Yes.
Finish: 4k GBP difference between their MG and new one 60 miles away.
Sales comments after watching 5 ads on auto trader: just too much of discount
Wasted 90 minutes.even when started conversation I did show adverts and prices.
General impression: people spend too much time watching computer and in between conversation many times forgetting client answers. Then saying, yep, I remember now. Awkward
P.S.: on Auto trader their MK branch is advertising car for UK less that they offered to me. Clowns. I sent email to Customer Services, that they put under this review. If review still there, then you know even more now :)

No customer service at all and incorrect information
Booked my car in at Glyn Hopkin Waltham Abbey on 29th August. Had 3 phone calls before this with the same member of staff who couldn't tell me basic answers about the service I was about to pay good money for. I turned up on the day and the staff told me my booking was for the week after, despite having spoken to another member of staff the day before. I had no communication from the garage for the whole day, and turned up at the end of the day to be told they couldn't fix one of the problems with my car and couldn't diagnose the other. This was despite having the car booked in for the whole day. I was told that I needed to bring the car back for 3-5 working days, they couldn't give me a courtesy car until October, and they didn't know what the problem was until then. They then phoned to re-book my car and informed my husband that there were notes explaining what the problem with my car was and that they can only apologise. Glyn Hopkin have lost any business from me (this is my second branch after having a bad experience at St Albans - where they told me not to write a bad review if I was happy with the work) and I have cancelled my service plan as a result of this experience.

Glyn Hopkins Renault St Albans - Everything cant be done
We went to Glyn Hopkins Renault St Albans to test drive a car we had reserved. We wanted to test drive the car and take it away same day. We are cash buyers. The car was great but someone had broken the multimedia device on it; since dealer had it. We really needed the car as we have events and travelling next week (w.c. 1/9/25). We made this clear. I have been chasing getting it fixed and delivered to us for next week. Part was confirmed defective on Tues. Rang Thurs and they hadn't even ordered the part. Ordered it that day but not here until 2/9 or 3/9. Said we would take it with a broken media screen and bring it back to get it fixed. The manager said no it has to be fixed before we have take the car. This is really poor service and reflects badly on Renault.
