The promises on the website sounded reassuring, but my actual experience was the complete opposite. The claims process was slow, communication was frustrating, and getting clear answers felt almost impossible. Every step seemed to involve more delays instead of real progress, leaving me to chase updates repeatedly. When you're paying for private health insurance, you expect fast, reliable support during stressful situations, not endless waiting and uncertainty. The service I received never reflected the "People first" approach they advertise. I was left disappointed, unsupported, and questioning the value of paying for this policy. Based on my experience, I would not recommend General & Medical.

Clarity and Good Humour
Everyone in the team has been friendly, helpful and efficient. Sanum was outstanding as she had a difficult job to do in explaining the policy wording and underwriters' decision to me, which she did considerately and with clarity and gentle good humour, which helped a great deal.

Dealing with health insurance companies…
Dealing with health insurance companies can be more painful than whatever condition sent you to the doctor in the first place!
One standout exception to the rule is Chelsea-Anne Walker, a wonderful Client Relations Team member at General & Medical. In all my many dealings with her she has gone above and beyond - she is thoughtful, careful and prompt and efficient. She has helped me hugely and I am very grateful. I can't commend her highly enough. Someone should give that woman a pay rise!

Ethan was amazing
Ethan was amazing. He reviewed my account and returned to me with a comprehensive explanation of my options, he did this in a very timely fashion.
He emailed the details to me and followed up with a phone call. He was polite and courteous and made me feel comfortable with my understanding of the cover available to me. Never once during my interactions with Ethan did I feel overwhelmed or undermined.
Ethan is a credit to General and Medical and I am grateful to him for his time and efforts.
