Bad advice on treatment of expensive gear and no help when it breaks

Bought an expense Arc'teryx jacket a few years ago. Was given specific instructions on care - which of course is to buy expensive jacket washing products that Friluftsland happens to sell. I've dutifully treated the jacket with this product for the time I'had the jacket.

Fast-forward 2,5 years and the jacket starts to come apart in the laminated seams. Friluftsland declined any sort of help because it is out of warranty. Which is perfectly legal but I was a little disappointed.

I eventually sent the jacket directly to Arc'teryx which was a much more positive experience but here I also learned that that specific treatment product is expressly _not recommended_ by Arc'teryx. Well, that's one way to increase the turnover of otherwise long-lasting equipment.

I'm sorry for your bad experiance with our customer service. I'd like to apologize for this.

I have been unable to find out, in which store you have been receiving this bad service. This is unfortunate, as I can't find out more about your case and find out why you have not been given the service we usually provide and take pride in.

Yes, you're only entitled to 2 years of warranty, but we usually assess warranty claims individually and sometimes accept claims in spite of the 2 year limit. This judgement is based on many years of experience dealing with Arcteryx' warranty claim department. Sometimes this judgement isn't perfect, as in your case.

The bad advice on which products to use to wash and re-proof your jacket puzzles me. We have always carried brands that were endorsed by various GORE-TEX garment manufacturers. The Arc'teryx wash tutorial video mention "lots of brands" and even "regular, mild detergent" as OK to use. They specifically show Grangers treatment products, which happen to be a brand we have carried for years and still do today. We would never sell or promote any products that degrade or destroy our products, just to increase sales of new ones. While we aren't all genious' at Friluftsland, we are not that stupid either.

I hope you have not lost all faith in us and that you might give us another chance sometime down the road.
