I really enjoy my Calmer by Flare. They help manage noise in crowded spaces, traffic noise when driving or walking (without compromising safety), and the annoyance of loud talkers and chewers. They do... See more

Founded in 2010 by British inventor Davies Roberts, Flare Audio spent its formative years as a pro audio manufacturer and hire company. Flare re-invented the loudspeaker, drawing praise from music industry luminaries including Jimmy Page, Jarvis Cocker, Richard Hawley and producer ‘Flood’. The company’s big innovation and mission is to minimise all types of distortion and it has developed several patent-pending technologies to achieve this. This ‘pure sound’ technology is now available in a range of award-winning earphones. In 2016, Flare launched Isolate®, its first sound-reducing product which used solid metal to block, rather than absorb sound. This innovation exceeded all expectations attracting over £2million in crowd funding and was followed up with Sleeep® ear plugs. Flare now ships to over 170 countries world-wide and has over 2 million likes on Facebook. Despite rapid growth the company maintains a strong customer focus. Flare’s team is dedicated to rethinking sound technology ‘from the ground up’, pushing boundaries and continuing to achieve exciting developments in audio innovation.

Give them time , experiment they work
Bought these for my children for school, they weren’t consistent with them and felt embarrassed wearing them, i was going out to a restaurant so took them as i get irritated if the environment is too loud . i wasn’t sure if they made a difference tbh but then i was at work and happened to have them with me still when i was using a power tool that i’ve used for 25 years , only on reflection did i realise that usually get tense and annoyed when doing this task but this time i was able to complete the task without the need for a usual break and completely focussed, it’s not the db level that is annoying it’s the pitch of the sound, so what irritates me might not irritate you, You need to experiment , i then ordered the keyring holder so i have them with me all the time and am now more aware finding triggering sounds , the more i use them , sounds that i’ve lived with and tolerated for a lifetime so i just pop them in and see if it helps. wouldn’t be without them now ,
Calmer soft
Bought Calmer soft for my daughter, on recommendation from school - on offer so not too expensive to try out. She hasn't worn them regularly enough to get used to them, but they do make a difference when in. They are pretty discreet. Unfortunately, she has lost both (on separate occasions) at school, so I need to buy replacements at full price.
Excellent customer service,great product
Excellent customer service and fantastic product. I lost one of my ear buds and they sent me a replacement foc which I'm over the moon with. Would definitely recommend and they're so comfy to wear. Thank you!!
BLATANT SCAMMERS
Don't even bother ordering. They have ZERO Customer service, item missing and still haven't had a reply via their ticket system or via email... I tried them and they did absolutely nothing for me but would of liked the aluminium capsule accessory I ordered, seen as I PAID FOR IT! Only fair right?
I love the Calmers, and the people.
I love the Calmers, and they’ve helped a lot, but have recently had a really pleasant experience with their customer support staff that makes me even more loyal to the brand. Their people are considerate, and dedicated to solving your issues and problems. I really appreciate that, and can assure anyone considering a purchase that if anything goes wrong, the team will do their best for you.
What a disappointment!
What a disappointment! Two days of using my Flare Calmer, and I can't tell any different to not using them. I've be using them at home with my 3 kids, at grocerystore and at the gym. Had high expectations and hope for these, but as said, can't tell any difference at all.
Two stars only for the cute mint color and nice packing.
Fantastic
I have issues in crowded places like shops and become overwhelmed easily. I also sometimes struggle at home if my son is playing loudly or we have visitors. My husband bought me some calmers mini as my ears are small and the difference they make is strange to say the least. How they work I don't know and what they actually do I also don't know but they definitely do something. I can handle shops a lot better and cope with my loud son a lot easier now. It's kind of like adding sugar to coffee. The taste of coffee is still there but the sugar takes the edge of the bitterness. These still allow me to hear everything without any noticeable difference but they somehow take the edge of sounds and as the name "calmer" suggests... I am definitely calmer with them! I am 100% glad to have these!
Flare Audio is a class act.
Flare Audio is a rare company. It is classy and responsive. I bought some Sleeep Pro plug and lost one on the second night. Flare sent me another pair plus spare plugs! Beyond expectation. Company was 5-star helpful. So rare these days...
Flare Calmer - Very skeptical but now wish I had them sooner!
I was really dubious about the claims Calmer can help with auditory stress. I have two children, aged 6 and 3, and after a day at work followed by lots of chat, games, odd voices on their favourite TV shows and shrieks from them 24/7 I felt I needed to try them for some feeling of calm!
I thought I'd try these over the Loop brand as these were within my budget (£16 in the sale).
It's no exaggeration, I felt immediate relief when I put the ear plugs in, and I was very sceptical beforehand. It's very hard to explain the effect they have, it is like I am cocooned slightly in my own head, with noises not bouncing around my ears and different noises no longer all competing with each other. I can hear my own voice clearer, which is calming as I don't feel I need to raise my voice to be heard. I can still hear my children and everyone talk to me clearly, but other noises are ever so slightly muffled in the background to not interfere with the conversation. I can't imagine now not having these and am going to order a spare pair as soon as I can afford to (hopefully they'll still be at the sale price). I wish I'd tried them much sooner.
Poor customer service
If you need to request a refund, your best bet is to contact Flare Audio on Instagram, because curiously enough they seem to be able to respond to Instagram comments within seconds but can't respond to emails... 6 days and still no response to my emails sent.
But the 1 star review is actually because the customer service agent I spoke to on Instagram was extremely unhelpful and insinuated I wasn't following their instructions correctly when I was doing exactly what the website advises. On the website it says to request a refund, you need to email them and they will send further instructions. Despite sending the customer service agent a screenshot of this guidance, I kept being told to just follow the instructions. I said, there's no order note included with either of my orders, don't I need to enclose my details when I return the earplugs so you'll know it's from me? The response I got was "as per the instructions, yes, you will need to include your order numbers...". But that instruction isn't on their website!
I could totally forgive them having a temporary problem with responding to emails if they are experiencing high numbers of enquiries, but not for gaslighting me like that. Should have just apologised and given me the "further instructions"! Very simple!
Absolutely unbelievable service from…
Absolutely unbelievable service from Andrew. He explained everything in detail. I have bought many products from Flare Audio and I highly recommend
Thank you for the best service
Purchased for my son who is autistic…
Purchased Calmer buds for my son who is autistic for use at school. He liked that he got to choose a nice bright red pair. We ordered buds with the lanyard, as many people reported their children losing a bud. The packaging was nice, and they come with a nice, little matching coloured storage pouch to put in his school bag.
The school has no problem with him wearing them. Apparently he's not the first student to use them. He says they are comfortable, but I'm not sure how much difference he finds them making. I'm sure he forgets to wear them, especially at tutor time first thing when things are very noisy and chaotic before the teacher arrives.
I suspect they are helpful, just that my son is forgetful and not very reflective. I am going to order a pair for me to see if they help with large, echo-y spaces like indoor pools and sports halls.
Advised to go to A&E when it got stuck in my ear - and no response from Flare
I have ADHD, noise sensitivity, and tinnitus, and so I bought some Calmer earplugs - after quite some time researching them - for in the office and on the bus/tram.
I ordered the starter pack, small and regular, as I wasn't sure of my ear size. I generally find earplugs too big but was surprised by how small the small were and so used the medium and followed the instructions carefully at my desk.
Unfortunately, they didn’t make any difference and, and so after a few hours I went to remove them as I didn't find them hugely comfortable, despite adjusting them. One ear came out easily but the other went right down my ear canal and was causing real pain, increasing when I moved my jaw/talked, and was making me feel nauseous.
I work in a hospital and went to our Ear, Nose and Throat unit and asked if they could help. I was told I would have to go to A&E. A passing clinician said she'd help and got it out using massive tweezers. She advised me not to use the earplugs again and said they could cause damage, given the pain they were causing in my inner ear/my eardrum. My ear was painful for two days. I emailed the address provided - only an info@ - no proper customer service/complaints email address appears to be provided. After I didn't hear back, I resent the email. It is now five days since I emailed - and tweeted them - and I have had no acknowledgement or response at all. This is really shoddy customer service.
Love Flare Audio products ❤️
I had ordered a pair of earshades pro, 1 calmer soft, 1 calmer soft mini for my best friend who is quite senstive to sound and noises and she LOVES them !!
When I received the earshades they were damaged but I contacted the team and they very prompt in their response and even sent me new pairs of earshades to make up for the damaged ones.
After sales service is great, the team is very helpful and the products are amazing.
They are comfy to wear (I tried them on with my friend), soothes you when it comes to lots of noise around and it makes your surroundings more pleasant.
I highly recommend Flare products !!
Rubbery (not in a good way )
I’m only giving 4 out of 5 as they are outstanding earbuds (Jet 3) and as an audio professional they are my go to reference for immersive critical listening. However these are my 3rd pair and the rubber cables drive me nuts, it generally takes 30-1min to unravel them evertime I need to use them. Please folks get some tangle free solution and you’ll get 5 stars.
These don’t work if you have sensitive hearing
Ordered for husband who has ASD and is triggered by noise. These did nothing for him so wouldn’t recommend for anyone who has sensitive hearing.
Don’t work, don’t waste your money
Packaging is aesthetically pleasing, advertising draws you in. Arrived in good time. But in reality you are paying for a very basic soft rubber ear insert which makes NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER… all I felt was them in my ears (and I got the mini ones). Don’t waste your money.
Best device for anti-Christmas carols in the mall
Flare Audio's Calmer Night has proven to be a lifesaver in drowning out the less pleasant sounds of the holiday season. Whether it's to dampen the sounds of Christmas carols or the cacophony of wailing kids at the mall, these earplugs have provided a welcome respite. Additionally, they've proven effective in minimising the disruptive noise from intoxicated neighbours revelling in their nighttime singing escapades. Thanks to Calmer Night, I can now enjoy some peace and quiet during the festive season and beyond.
