I really enjoy my Calmer by Flare. They help manage noise in crowded spaces, traffic noise when driving or walking (without compromising safety), and the annoyance of loud talkers and chewers. They do... See more

Founded in 2010 by British inventor Davies Roberts, Flare Audio spent its formative years as a pro audio manufacturer and hire company. Flare re-invented the loudspeaker, drawing praise from music industry luminaries including Jimmy Page, Jarvis Cocker, Richard Hawley and producer ‘Flood’. The company’s big innovation and mission is to minimise all types of distortion and it has developed several patent-pending technologies to achieve this. This ‘pure sound’ technology is now available in a range of award-winning earphones. In 2016, Flare launched Isolate®, its first sound-reducing product which used solid metal to block, rather than absorb sound. This innovation exceeded all expectations attracting over £2million in crowd funding and was followed up with Sleeep® ear plugs. Flare now ships to over 170 countries world-wide and has over 2 million likes on Facebook. Despite rapid growth the company maintains a strong customer focus. Flare’s team is dedicated to rethinking sound technology ‘from the ground up’, pushing boundaries and continuing to achieve exciting developments in audio innovation.

Immediate relief
I’m autistic and have cPTSD. I work in a very busy, loud restaurant and the sounds can be so overwhelming. I’ve been looking into getting earplugs to help alleviate my discomfort and saw an add for the Calmer plugs. I decided to give them a try and was pleasantly surprised with how much they immediately helped! At first I thought maybe it was psychosomatic but then I walked into the kitchen, took them out and stood there for a few minutes. The high frequencies rushed back into my ears and I knew it wasn’t in my head. They actually worked!!! So thankful for this product, I carry them with me all the time now and have started using them outside of work. Such a relief!!!
I have been searching for a solution…
I have been searching for a solution for sensory issues/auditory processing disorder my whole life. I found this by accident, ordered it immediately, and people my brain works now. I am so serious it is 1000% worth it. Not even expensive. I ordered another set in the kids size too because now I feel insecure about losing my first set. My ears are unnaturally small and my first set was the soft set and works beautifully, doesn't hurt, won't fall out, and isn't even noticeable, by me or other people. I'm so thankful that my life is about to change. Take a chance and change your life too. Xoxo
I feel utterly scammed by false…
I feel utterly scammed by false advertising. There is simply no way the positive reviews on here are real (Trustpilot) is known to have agencies that create Fake reviews. If you check their website, they only have 3 positive reviews (VERY SUSPECT). I should have known better.
I had great anticipation. After putting them on (fitted properly) and using my best Planar Magnetic headphones, I tried some of my favourite tunes across a variety of genres.
The only way I could explain what I experienced is, a massive "WOW" once I removed these from my ears and simply used my regular headphones to hear the true quality of the music without the destruction of audio that these create.
These do NOTHING except muddy and muffle the sound, especially in the mid-high range. By all accounts, they destroy nuance and acoustics. Immersive? Absolutely NOTHING immersive. There is less separation and less wrap. They are muffled. It's like listening to music through a tin can of beans.
Cannot believe I paid $30 duties on top of this.
STEER CLEAR!!
The sensory relief moved me to tears!
I purchased Calmer minis about 2 years ago. For one, I'm delighted that they offer this size option, as most in-ear devices are just too big for me. As far as the actual product, I continue to be a daily - and highly grateful - user of them! I have had sound sensitivities most of my life and find myself tiring so quickly just from being in noisy environments. They have exceeded my hopes and expectations! I personally felt INSTANT RELIEF when I put them in. So much so that I was moved to tears. I didn't realize just how much I had been straining until that moment. I hope to purchase the Calmer Pro when my finances allow. I found the product to be very affordable and can see them lasting for several more years. They are so comfortable to wear and don't create that awful "insulated" feeling you get from ear Plugs. To me, the fact that a 100 day guarantee is offered shows the sincerity of Flare and their desire to help people. As far as complaints about return shipping prices, etc, as customers we have the responsibility to research those things and factor them in before we make a decision and a purchase. People are used to giant conglomerates who make so much money off people that they can just throw in free shipping and returns. But when you're dealing with small and midsized companies, you have to adjust your expectations. Flare provides well-researched products and I'm grateful to have access to them, despite living in a different country.
Help My Overstimulation in Menopause
Help My Overstimulation in Menopause
I work in a very noisy ICU and have 2 rambunctious boys. Going through menopause, everything is loud and annoying. I put these in and immediately my shoulders sink. I can still hear everything I need to hear. It’s the background noise that fades away. I love them ❤️
I love these ear plugs
I love these ear plugs! I have sound sensitivity and these reduce the pain I experience from loud noises. They remove the pain from sounds like blow dryers, hair dryers, leaf blowers, vacuum cleaners.....
I have had them for a year and really like them!
I have auditory processing disorder and…
I have auditory processing disorder and I've tried so many similar looking products. I got these in 2023 and can honestly say they're the best for my needs. These ear buds are the only one i can wear for extended periods comfortably. When I put them in the difference feels like my brain is being rinsed with cool water. Sound is not muffled or distorted at all, it just feels smoother and is easier to organize.
My 8 year old and I both have a couple sets.
Perfect for every day use
I’ve been using regular earplugs for years in noisy environments but in every day life these are too much.
I hear certain high frequencies at minus ten decibels which is extreme. When I first tried FlareAudio protection I didn’t notice a difference but it absorbs those high frequencies and makes things way more bearable. It made a real difference in my life. Thank you FlareAudio !
Extremely disappointing and misleading.
Having watched the promotional video for the Immerse products featuring Stephen Fry and after reading all the glowing reviews, I was very keen to try Immerse and was expecting they would take my "sound experience to a whole new level."
They did not.
I followed the fitting instructions very carefully, tried all the different sized tips, adjusted the angle of the Immerse in an attempt to find some improvement in audio quality, but without success.
I rewatched the videos, spoke with Customer Service, tried every conceivable combination of tip sizes and ear position.
The only time I experienced an enthusiastic reaction to match Stephen Fry’s was when I removed the Immerse and returned to my normal listening conditions.
I really wanted the Immerse to work for me. I have good quality audio equipment and had a comprehensive hearing test just last week, which showed I have no hearing loss at any frequency. So I’m pretty confident that it’s not me, not my audio gear and not my use of the Immerse which has compromised the results. I think they just don’t do what is claimed.
I'm not surprised there are only three positive reviews on the Flare Audio website at the time of writing. I left a review, at their invitation, but it hasn't appeared and I suspect it never will.
So now, having paid Import Duty (the customs declaration was incorrectly completed by Flare so I'm liable for customs tax), I now have the not inconsiderable expense of returning the Immerse to the UK by recorded delivery. I shall be £40-50 out of pocket with absolutely nothing to show for it beyond a sense of frustration and disappointment.
I also have a bone to pick with Stephen Fry! I can't believe he was testing the same product I received when they recorded his enthusiastic reaction.
Return shipping $75
I purchased the Flare headphones with the understanding I have 100 days to return them. Silly me for not checking how much it cost to return an envelope to the UK with tracking, as they recommend. $75 to return. Don’t advertise returns when returns cost more than the product because you know people won’t send it back.

Reply from Flare Audio
I paid more than 50e for a product that I never could even try on.
I placed an order for a pair of Calmer 2 Prototype and I have never received it (order #1020177).
My package was supposed to be "delivered to the mailbox," but I have never received it.
I did try numerous times those to reach out to their third-party logistics. I couldn't be in touch with them cause I'm the receiver. I just don't have any ways to contact them. Here is what I found on their website : " Still no package after two days of delivery? As the sender, please contact our customer service. The contact options are listed below. Our team will try to locate your package. Are you the recipient? Ask the sender to get in touch with us. "
When I told that to Flare, they replied that, because they used a third-party logistics, then it’s not their responsibility to solve this matter and their are not going to do anything for me to get my package or get my money back. They are responsible for this situation and me being patient had led them to behave disrespectfully and irresponsibly.
It really feel like a scam I strongly advise against them.
Louise.

STELLAR CUSTOMER SERVICE
First, STELLAR customer service from Flare Audio. Ordered a pair of earbuds from them. They were never delivered by FedEx. Contacted them about what happened and they over nighted me another pair. I thought I was just out of luck with this order. Have only had several other issues and each time was very satisfied with their customer service. Certainly a customer for life!
personalized, direct and helpful
I appreciate the personalized, direct and helpful information that Titas provided, which helped me move forward with supporting educators with the information and getting them to the right person. So helpful!
Immerse- give them time
Bought the Immerse headphones and at first wasn’t impressed and considered returning them. However, now my ears are adjusting I’m starting to really enjoy them, and I’ve only had them a day.
My advice is to be patient- take the time to get a good fit and let your ears recalibrate. It took me an hour or so of listening. Initially the sound is a bit muddy in comparison to what you’re used to, but once it clicks… bass is bigger, soundstage is wider, lots more definition in the mid highs. Yes you do need to crank the volume up a bit but this is compensated by the reduction in harsh frequencies and I’m hearing new things in tunes I’ve heard hundreds of times.
I needed customer support to get to a place where I was happy, so I’m taking a star off because I think the onboarding could be clearer (i.e. better instructions on how they should sit in your ears, maybe some notes on your ears needing time to adapt as the results aren’t as instant as the marketing suggests)
Immerse - disappointing
I wanted to like these. I was excited to try them! I got the ones you wear under headphones - the ones you see Stephen Fry so enthusiastic about in the Facebook Ads. Unfortunately they did not work for me all. I tried all the sizes of tips. I followed the fitting instructions carefully. They did not improve the audio quality at all - only effect was a reduction in volume and a slight dulling of the overall sound. I have sent mine back. In fairness Flare have a 100 day Return Policy and I have found their Customer Service to be good.

Ibought a pair of Immerse Headphones…
Ibought a pair of Immerse Headphones and Immerse Stereo. They did nothing for me in terms of audio enhancement. Sending both pairs back.

The customer service is exceptional
The customer service is exceptional! Very helpful and quick to answer. I got the feeling that Flare Audio really cares about it’s customers and them eventually having a satisfying product.
Quick turnaround
Andrew provided a very quick turnaround in response to my request for a VAT invoice. Such a pleasure not to have to chase for a reply.
On the Nice List
Flare Audio are working hard to improve the every day experience for people with sound sensitivities and for that I am very grateful. All of the products that I have ordered have been innovative, comfortable and easy to use. My recent experience with Titas in customer service was excellent. So much so that my 8 year old has concluded that they must definitely be on the "nice list" with Santa this year. Long Live Ears and long live Flare Audio.
Great service; great product, Calmer 2 just isn't for me.
I presently own three different kinds of Flare Calmer: the Originals, the Calmer Pro, and Calmer 2 Prototypes.
Of the three, the Calmer Pro currently get daily wear- I adore them. I looked into calmer as an alternative to another well known earplug brand, and I have to say they lived up to expectations. They take the edge off without being too obvious, and without that horrid amplification of all your own internal sounds.
The only reason I'm knocking off a star is because I feel the Calmer 2 model just doesn't live up to the Original design. It's far more obvious, feels a little too muffled, and unfortunately (though this is a personal gripe & I understand they are in the prototype stage) as a Calmer Mini user, the smallest bud attachments were still too large (and were a real pain to get on).
The customer service alongside the order, though, was amazing- very swift, resolved an issue with the original delivery very quickly. A shame I'm just not fond of Calmer 2, but my Pros will serve me well!
