I did it after 68 years
At 68 years of age, I had never flown before. It wasn’t the airport or the idea of flying that held me back, but a long-standing fear of claustrophobia and the feeling of being trapped once the aircraft doors closed—something that has only worsened with age.
The online course made a real difference, providing practical techniques to help manage those feelings. By the day of the flight, I felt far more prepared. Once on board and seated, I quickly felt at ease thanks to the reassurance and clear, supportive commentary from the Fearless Flight team.
Then came the moment of truth—the doors closed. To my amazement, I didn’t bat an eyelid. I surprised myself and couldn’t help but wonder why this fear had held me back for so long.
I’m incredibly grateful to the team for creating such a supportive experience and giving me the opportunity to take part in a real flight.
Next stop: Tromsø, Norway… by air.
