The response and follow up to my request for service was terrific. My only challenge was the use of USPS for the return to Canada. Repair was excellent and my glasses look like new

EyeglassesDepot.com started in 2007 as a new department of our retail designer eyeglasses and sunglasses business. Quickly we realized that our customers not only shop for new prescription lenses and new frames, they also ask us the popular question "Can this be fixed?". Tired of telling customers NO, we decided to explore the idea of repair rather then replacement. In late 2007 we remodeled the second floor of our office and hired the staff that today runs our laboratory. Our two lab technicians have combined over 17 years of expert experience in the field of optometry, eyewear repair and eyewear sales.

Wrong prescription, zero service!
They have never heard of customer service, apparently. My wife ordered a pair of glasses, which arrived with the wrong prescription. They refused to refund her money and repeated emails went unanswered. Don’t buy from this site, you might as well give your money away.
Complain to NYC Dept of Consumer & Worker Protection
I have had a very negative experience with this company similar to many other complaints/reviews I have read. After trying to deal (unsuccessfully) with the company I contacted the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection and filed a complaint. The DCWP tried reaching out to eyeglasses depot with no success and because my complaint was the only one on this co with the department, I was told there wasn't anything they could do based on ONE complaint. So, I am asking that each and everyone who sees this and feel that they were scammed by this business will do the same.

SCAM!!! Confirmed by Maui Jim
I sent my Maui Jim sunglasses to this place for repair after finding them on web when searching for *Maui Jim sunglasses repair". The quote they gave was more than the double cost of any repair I had Maui Jim do before. It made more sense to buy a new pair over paying thier price. When I told them that I wanted them returned and didn't want to do the repair, they told me that I had to pay for their $9.99 cancelation fee or they would send me to a collection agency. I called Maui Jim directly and asked why they had a service place that treated customers this way. Maui Jim told me this place was a scam. Maui had been trying to get websites like this from showing up on web searches and advised me to not pay anything. If you search the address on google maps you will find a shack in New York. I requested they return my glasses, but they want my bank account first. Do not use this place. To this day, they still have my sun glasses or have already sold them on ebay.
I couldn't be happier with the service!
I couldn't be happier with the service provided. I am a software engineer and need my glasses to do my job. Unfortunately, I broke the frames beyond repair and needed new ones to accommodate my lenses. I found the frames at Eyeglassesdepot. There was an minor flaw with the frames they had stocked. Same reached out to me discuss options. Three days later I had the frames I ordered waiting for me in my mailbox! It took thirty seconds to switch out my lenses and I am back up and running! I will absolutely be back when I am in need of new frames.
BEWARE
BEWARE! When I searched for Costa Warranty Repair, they came up. Sent them repair request online. They agreed to repair. I sent the glasses after receiving confirming email that they can repair them. THEY DO NOT HANDLE WARRANTY REPAIRS! And, Extremely Rude to deal with!
This is my second posting
This is my second posting. A few days ago, this business sent me a harassing email requesting that I return material that were never used in the repair job, then calling me a thief. I requested that they stop contacting me, they immediately sent another harassing email. I can't stress this enough, STAY AWAY!!!!!

Do not send your glasses to this…
Do not send your glasses to this company!!!
Worst experienced ever!! My glasses just got back and already the branch that they supposedly fixed broke off!! That's after I talked to the boss and he had me remove the negative rating I had put in because it was taking so long and I kept getting billed wrongly!! I thought he would take care of me! His excuse is that they ordered parts for my glasses but they didn't! They charged me $114.00 to glue my branch and it already fell off!!!This business is a rip off!! 1 month later and I still dont have my glasses fixed!!!

Couldn't be happier. Will be using them for my wife's glasses as well.
Read this New York Times article to learn more about the man behind EyeGlassesDepot
Beware: This company is a menace. Read the 5-star reviews and you will see they are faked, read the 1-star reviews and you will see they are authentic. Notice that nearly all of the one-star critical reviews have been "verified" by TrustPilot. They are verified because EyeGlassesDepot tried to have them removed and the reviewers fought back, providing information about their orders to prove we are customers, despite the fact that EyeGlassesDepot knew all along that we are customers. Just one more indication of the pathological nature of the man leading this "company" -- he abuses TrustPilot's merchant rights to wage war against the people he screws over. A cherry on top of the fraudulent and abusive sundae he is dishing up.
I suspect that customers of EyeGlassesDepot.com would find interesting a New York Times article entitled, "Has Online Retail’s Biggest Bully Returned?
Outraged customers of Eyeglassesdepot sound like the victims of a man who’s already spent years in prison for terrorizing consumers", published on May 2, 2021. Look also for the following NYT articles, "A Pitch for Eyeglasses That Sounds Eerily Familiar"; "Online Seller Who Bullied Customers Pleads Guilty"; "Eyeglass Vendor, Imprisoned for Terrorizing Consumers, Is Accused of Fraud". Very interesting reading, describing the long history of a key person that the NYT suspects is behind EyeGlassesDepot.
Update as of 1:24pm. Someone from EyeGlassesDepot has now sent me 25 texts in the last 34 minutes. They range from anger to threats to attempts to bargain to attempts to explain their position. They believe that they will have this post removed because it violates TrustPilot's terms of service. I suspect not -- it is a New York Times article that references EyeGlassesDepot.com.
Update, since my last post, EyeGlassesDepot owner has been threatening and harassing me, and also trying to get my post removed for having used private information. The only private information in my post was the name of a person in a NYT article that they believe is the person behind EyeGlassesDepot who was also imprisoned twice for fraud and violent threats. Ironically, the EyeGlassesDepot owner is simultaneously complaining that the NYT mentions the felon's name and that it's not him. Things that make you go hmmm. Nice of him to worry so much about someone else's "private" information that is in the New York Times. Meanwhile, in his response, the EyeGlassesDepot owner posted our private text correspondence (which, by the way, makes him look really bad), including my cell phone number. A classic case of projection ... falsely accusing someone else of doing what you are doing yourself. This guy is a bona fide piece of work.
Update: Making progress with the authorities.
Trusted supplier
Eyeglassesdepot was unknown for me as a supplier and at the start I hesitated placing an order. But everything went just fine and now I have a pair of precious glasses that is not produced any more. Trusted!
Impressive service
Very happy with the service. Lots of text and email communication! I found the texting to be super helpful and efficient. I paid a bit more than I was expecting but I feel like they worked hard to find some difficult to find parts. Looking forward to receiving them.

This is probably the most bizarre…
This is probably the most bizarre behavior I have ever seen buying from someone. I recently sent my sunglasses to be repaired scratches removed their site states that they can do this so I sent them.it takesthem over two weeks to respond the box I had sent with a signature. They tell me that for $240 they will put new lenses in I told them that the glasses were not worth it to send them back they tried to haggle with me numerous times to get me to purchase this I told them that is not what I wanted to send my glasses back. This went on and on somebody from the company kept texting me almost in a threatening way. After all of that they wanted to charge me $15.95 to send me my glasses back I told them I refused. Every day they keep sending me text and emails that I owe them this $15.95. I would not even think about giving them a credit card or Venmo or any form of payment because of the dishonesty. I feel like they did not even see if they were repairable they were just saying to sell me something then when I didn’t agree all of the conversation began. Lesson learned do not do business with this company. He did tell me that if I wrote a positive review that they would send my glasses back at no charge. What a strange way of twisting the situation. They can keep my glasses at this point I really don’t care I am just glad I am able to review this unscrupulous business To help others.
I just want to add to my post and clarify and correct eyeglass depot on the response He noted they were very expensive lenses the entire set of lenses with frame cost me $300.00 2 years ago because they are progressive lenses.. They also state that there were 2 frames ? I sent in one frame with two lenses. Of the two lenses one had a scratch on it the other had no scratches this is why I sent it to eyeglass Depot and no they were not destroyed of scratches I would know better than to send a pair of glasses like that. The grave mistake I did make was not reading reviews it appears there are many many reviews with the same situation that I occurred with us unscrupulous business. Again they have twisted all of the facts around in their favor.
Thank you again for allowing me to post the facts to the public

I was referred to Eyeglasses Depot from… Costa Warranty
I was referred to Eyeglasses Depot from Costa Warranty. I sent the glasses in and was emailed 5 times about the repair that needed to happen to the glasses. I sent the money in for the repair and waited on the glasses. The glasses finally came in and the repairs were NOT DONE. I was mailed back the SAME glasses that I mailed in. I called the customer service number to take care of the issue and she did not sound assuring just told me someone would get back with me. This is not expectable.
The owner of the company called me to apologize and explain what happened. He was very polite and assured me with confidence that the glasses would be repaired properly. It was a better experience. Thank you Sam for being a good owner of a company and talking to your upset customers.

Unhappy with sunglass repair -- don't bother with this business
I sent my broken Maui Jims (broken earpiece) to them after being promised that both earpieces would match. The on-line quote was in the vicinity of $49 but the actual fee came back as double. I went ahead, trusting that my glasses which were like new when broken would be repaired for less than 1/2 of a new pair. The two earpieces do not come close to matching, and yesterday's email (part of a long back and forth with this business about why I'm unhappy with their repair) pretended to not understand....after I had sent photos to illustrate the two earpieces are different color, different transparency and different widths. At one point, I was offered a different earpiece but it was for the wrong side. I have repeatedly asked what they can do or asked for a refund but at this point I just feel like it's become a game to what passes for customer service. Save your aggravation, stay away from this business. P.S. after posting everything BEFORE this P.S., I got an email that "the owner" wanted to talk to me. Problem is he called twice: first time in the evening of 12/23/21 from a "private caller" ID'ed phone so I didn't answer. The next day -- Christmas Eve -- I asked for a time certain when eyeglassesdepot would call again so I would be home and could answer. No answer to my request but I got a second call Christmas night (12.25) just before 10PM. When I asked again to know when I would be called so I would be home, awake, and able to answer I was told repeatedly to "go away", the final time with offensive language. A week ago today (1.3.22) I spoke to Annie in Customer Service, and asked her to help me get a call back scheduled. I'm understanding eyeglassesdepot's reply to this review as their final answer. They got me for $100+ for a pair of mis-matched temple pieces which they first tried to tell me were a match despite having different nomenclature on each. Save your money....you'd be better off buying the same frame new and use the broken pair for spare parts needed in the future. My "experience" is a 1 for the repair; a ZERO for customer service and care, and two months of aggravation.

Better Than What I Expected
I needed my lenses replaced because of deep scratches and they did a great job!! Also with the original lenses from Lens Crafters the lenses would pull on my eyes regarding my astigmatism and when I put the repaired eyeglasses on and I do not feel that pull. Crystal clear vision. Amazed!!
