Poor customer service and no proper investigation
I am extremely disappointed with Expedia’s handling of my case.
My booking issue was never properly investigated. Instead of taking the time to read the conversation and understand what had happened, the agent simply responded with generic answers and closed the case. It was obvious that the chat history had not been reviewed before making a decision.
I was repeatedly told to expect a phone call within 10 minutes, yet no one contacted me. After waiting for over 30 hours, I finally received a call at 3:54 a.m., an entirely inappropriate time to contact a customer. It is unacceptable to promise a prompt callback and then fail to deliver, only to call in the middle of the night.
Expedia advertises customer support, but when I genuinely needed assistance, I experienced poor communication, long delays, and a lack of accountability. Rather than advocating for their customer or investigating the issue properly, they simply accepted the supplier’s version of events without reviewing the evidence I had provided.
I expected Expedia to protect its customers and handle disputes fairly. Instead, I was left frustrated, ignored, and without a meaningful resolution.
Based on this experience, I have lost confidence in Expedia’s customer service and will think twice before booking through them again.

Falsely advertise identical properties at different prices, pictures shown in listings.
Place a booking through Expedia, but it is a Vrbo advertised property, and cancelled by Belvilla???🤯
Contact Expedia who say contact Vrbo their partner website(useless), contact Vrbo who deliberately drop the call 3x(useless), contact Belvilla who state it was cancelled for “operational reasons” but still advertised under a different name at a higher price🤦♂️
The property had still been showing at a higher price after receiving my cancellation email.
Multiple properties at this location - Roompot, Zandvoort do the same thing, list under different names and different prices 😠 CON!!

I will never use Expedia again. First the motel I booked for my grandson and I two weeks prior was overbooked and my room was given away. By the time we checked in there were 3 people in front of us whose rooms had been "overbooked" or given away despite the reservation. My 6 y/o grandson and myself sat in the lobby until about 10 that night but the manager finally found us a room. Now when trying to get a refund, I'm left on hold for 15-20 min. at a time. This experience has been unbelieveable.

I booked 1 night at a hotel for 16th July. The booking was fully and freely cancellable before 14th July with no payment due. I cancelled and received confirmation of the cancellation by e-mail and on my Expedia account on 1st April. I was charged full price on 16th July. I have spent 2 hours so far with Expedia and sent proof of type of booking, proof of cancellation and proof that the fraudulent payment has been charged to my credit card. I have not yet received a refund. I get lots of 'encouraging' words, but no action and Expedia are refusing to take responsibility even though the payment went through them.
Note that expedia responded immediately to my review but it is just words and no action. They have not resolved the issue. I was told that I would hear back in 24-48 hours. I have still not heard back >48 hours later and the fraudulent charge is still on my account.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! If I could leave zero stars I would. When I was booking my flight the website glitched halfway through the checkout and told me that the sale could not be completed and try again later. So I wait a few minutes and try again and it goes through. Later I find that they have charged for the failed purchase so I call (within the 24 hour cancellation window) and try to get a refund but they just hand me off from person to person sending me emails that are clearly not written specifically for me and my case and just trying to wear me out until I give up so they can keep my money. They are criminals!!! Their website malfunctioned and they refused to take accountability or give me a refund when I provide email evidence that it was a mistaken double booking. Steer clear of them and use booking.com or another website instead. So unbelievably dodgy. They probably designed their website to do that so that can take money from people ave claim it was an accident and there’s nothing they can do to reverse it now because the airline won’t refund so it’s not their choice or problem. Gross gross company.

there is not a SINGLE benefit to booking through expedia. In fact, it makes everything harder when it comes to managing your flights, introducing a needless third party layer. I will never be doing so again.

Rubbish customer service. Very unhelpful. We just asked for e-tickets for our booked flight. There was no e-tickets and lots bullshit of telling us e-tickets will be issued 72 hours before departure. What kind of nonsense is that. NEVER use expedia.co.uk again... I thought it's a big and well-established online travel platform but clearly it isn't. We had to call the customer service on our own to obtain the e-ticket numbers... very insane

Terrible. Customer service is incredibly slow, have been going back and forth with them for days just to simply change my flight. One minute there is technical issues and I have to call them back in a few hours or days, then when it’s close to changing, suddenly the time and flight which was widely available prior is suddenly unavailable. Just a huge time waste honestly don’t waste your money with this stupid slow company with slow individuals.

Rented a car from NU Car Rentals Bulgaria via them only to be pressured and forced to hand over £2200 for damage on the car that was not there, sent Expedia email outlining the whole scam all i get back is email sent to them from NU stating damage was there, sent Expedia proof its all lies and again just get reply from NU, Expedia don't care about customer, only care about car hire company, so can only say i will never use Expedia again, total rubbish of a company who don't do anything to help customer, as for NU Car Rentals, there the biggest scammers out there, DO NOT RENT FROM THEM if you want to loose £1000's, just check there reviews, do it to every customer they get.

Worst ever customer service and supervisors. I am supposed to be a platinum customer and level of help i got a kinder garden child can be more helpful. Thats my final mistake. There app when booking is misleading and they will charge u more even if book inclusive. Robbery in a day light

Stuck in between them and an airline. They ignored my emails, then claimed they didn't understand my emails (I'm a former English teacher and speech and language therapist, the emails were written for someone with the reading age of a 7 year old), then disputed a valid chargeback. I love travelling and will be avoiding this company in the future. I would advise others to avoid them too.

Awful! I've used Expedia for years, never had any issues until now. Tried to book a package of flight and hotel, authenticated the payment via my bank app - payment error on Expedia's website, told to try again. I did, I had 4 emails from the airline confirming 4 different flight bookings. Called Expedia to be told it's fine and try again in 3 hours. 4 hours later, happened again but with Klarna.
Told the issue was with the information I was inputting - strange how the airline was passed my details from Expedia. Cleared cache, data, used two different laptops, mobile app - same issue. Now 5 flight confirmations and 5 pending payments, when calling I was told to wait 24 hours, asked if I could raise a complaint - no.
Try again 24 hours later, same issue, now pending payments on my current account via Klarna, and two full payments pending on Klarna. Used the webchat, told to wait 24 hours - this fixes nothing, it just passes the problem on to someone else.
The client services team are robotic, I've worked in Finance in a phones team and I'd be embarrassed to provide the service I've experienced. Called to voice my concerns - was spoken over saying it's fine as there's no actual booking and that payments will be cancelled in 72 hours - that's easy to say when it's not your account with pending payments totalling £2,400. I asked to speak to a Manager, I wasn't allowed at first as 'I've got all the answers for you'. Speak with a supervisor with the same attitude, spoke over me every time I voiced my concerns, told I shouldn't have tried to book so many times - the associates told me to and even offered to try their end but I refused as couldn't risk even more pending payments.
Finally transferred to someone who I was told was a Manager, same spiel, wait 72 hours. No concern about the shocking customer service reps, no hint of raising a ticket to fix the issue that's caused this, and I'm still unable to book a trip, so I've gone elsewhere.
I'll be avoiding Expedia in the future, despite this being the first trouble I've encountered. There's no interest in fixing issues for the customer, no empathy, despite when someone's clearly worried about payments being taken.
I've spent near on two hours trying to rectify the issue, by phone and live chat. Each person I speak with gives the same answer 'wait'. They'll do everything they can to avoid escalating the problem, won't allow you to speak to senior staff, and when you do they repeat 'wait'. Little to no regard for those whose have chosen to book trips with Expedia, their money, and the stress errors can cause.

Update- they have now refunded me £3 - on Thursday it was £31. Travel insruance claim because I know my dad was in a coma when I left UK they also cannot allow me to submit a claim. I will never use Expedia again - due to a family tradgedy I have tried to cancel my return trip . Im on day 3 of trying to do this. They send you from pillar to post. The Actual carrier Virgin cant or wont help. Expedia are charging me £330 to cancel the flight- what about the cost of the return flight I have paid? Im now trying to cancel they say phone the insurance company you have the protection plan with , phoned AIG , they say I have to cancel with expedia first . All whilst grieving and going through the hardest stage of life and this is what Im having to do just to cancel the flight Never ever ever will I use Expedia or Virgin Airlines ever again.

Flights and hotel all good - the problem was with a boat excursion that we paid extra for - for my wifes birthday.
Expedia failed to send the QR codes that were necessary for us to board the boat, so we were denied entry, and the boat sailed without us. 2 other couples had the same problem and were not allowed on the boat. We all showed our Expedia bookings, but without the QR codes they could not scan us onto the boat.
I immediately contacted Expedia who said they would look into getting us a refund.
The full refund has now been received and all is well again.

Perhaps the worst experience ever received from anyone.
Booked late online for Euro Disney, their system glitched and booked the tickets for the following day. They phoned us to verify we said no we do not approve the payment. It was taken anyway.
They have since failed to deal with the matter at all, quoting scripts and offering nothing all.
We are nearly £1,800 out of pocket and they will not do anything to assist.
Never ever book with these people, you could tell from the start they only cared they had my money and were never going to actually help.

I received a confirmation email of my booking which showed a twin room, which was nothing like the room I was given. So does that constitute misrepresentation. To show an item different to what you get, to me it is but you can't actually get in touch so be very careful with these shysters! Live chat is a waste of time and you just get fobbed off.

We stayed at a five star hotel with Expedia. Had an issue with one of my autistic sons. Hotel were brilliant in dealing with the issue. Expedia couldn't care a less.
On top of that, when I put a review on Expedia they would not allow it - truth hurt does it Expedia?

Careful with hiring cars. I did hire one to pick up at Gatwick (I live in UK). The company was Flexways - I didn't know that actually it was Expedia. I then needed to cancel it so sent emails to Flexways - no response. So I phoned the Flexways helpline - 2.5 minute call, £13.92! He informed me I'd done it through Expedia. Fortunately, the 'chat' person (AI?) was incredibly efficient and has refunded me the car hire, though not (so far) the extra insurance. I am monitoring it.

Absolutely useless company - a hotel lost my £200 item and Expedia have done absolutely nothing in trying to get LX Boutique in Lisbon to refund me or compensate me.
Beyond useless. Once they have your money, they aren't bothered.
