We were given a New Car!

When we went to Malaysia this March 2026 we arranged to have a hire car from Europcar. We arranged to pick it up at KL Sentral railway station. The car we selected online was a Nissan, but when we arrived this was not available, but we were given a new Proton which was very nice! The young guy who initially served us needed to be more customer friendly. He did not welcome us, but went straight into the fines we would have to pay for various situations and this continued for quite a while. He needs to try and smile a little, it would help. Another young guy came along and showed us to our car, he was much more friendly and had better customer service skills. We had a great time driving this car and made sure we retuned it early.
Many thanks to Europcar for a good service.

Amazing customer service

Amazing customer service from the Manager, They actually did a free upgrade for a premium car.
This Europcar is very convenient to hire a car of our choice hassle free.
I would recommend this website to my friends. Overall i am very happy for the service provided by the Europcar Team.
I look forward to book my rental cars through Europcar only. Thanks

Beware

Beware! I am a regular traveller to Malaysia, I have tried most rental car services at Kuala Lumpur Airport. This time I decided to go for Europcar, as this seemed a known and trusted brand. Somewhat unusual, they asked for full pre-payment at the time of booking, but I paid up, thinking that I will simply be able to collect the keys and drive off. When I arrived at their counter in KLIA Airport, I was first presented with an Invoice for RM 648, I was told that this was for additional Collision Damage Waiver, although I had clearly ticked on my applicationi that I did not want CDW. She insisted that I must pay, so I paid for this. Then she said she now also needs a RM 1,000 deposit. I told her that I was surprised as this was not mentioned in their contract. She insisted that it said so in their email confirmation. I had my tablet with me, so I showed her the emails that I had received and the confirmation email and she also could not find any such mention. Anyway, she insisted and so I paid up. Then she said that since I wanted to return the car at 8 a.m. in the morning, this was outside their office hours and I would have to pay an additional RM 180 for returning the car outside their office hours. This is the first time that a car hire company did this. We normally just drop the key into the key-box and walk away. So I reluctantly paid this 3rd charge as well. Now, after everything was signed and paid for, she said that unfortunately they did not have the car that I had booked, but that she would give me an 'upgrade' at no extra cost. By that time I have had about enough. What is the point of pre-booking and more importantly, pre-paying and then to be told that the item that I had paid for is not available? I reluctantly accepted, and whatever she may think, the car that we were given was certainly not an 'upgrade', it was a different brand which I really did not want, but having gone through all this, I accepted the car and dorve off. But never again will I use Europcar and I would urge any potential customers to be aware of their additional charging once you had prepaid!

Very poor service from this car rental…

Very poor service from this car rental company. Firstly, all of their contact numbers & hotline number went unanswered. On my 1st day, I was trying to find its office at KLIA to collect the car but all my calls went unanswered despite repeatedly calling all the given numbers. On my 2nd day of using its car, I faced a faulty aircon issue. The aircon gradually turned warm while I was midway driving to Ipoh from KL. As I had already paid full sum for another 5 days for the car, I can’t imagine driving without aircon in the really hot weather. After many times of desperately calling all their numbers, my husband finally got thru one number. While he related the problem to one of its lady staff who was very rude & even cuts off his line coz she was busy attending to another customer (she claims). I was told I can’t get a refund at all but only a replacement car. Fair enough, but since I was in Ipoh, I can’t change the car unless I’m bck to KL. So I asked if they hv a branch in Ipoh. Was told that they hv only at Penang but guess what? Customer is expected to bring the faulty car all the way to Penang, driving in the very hot condition. I reasoned with the staff that I can’t possibly do that as I also hv a wheelchair bound boy with high care needs that will be too much trouble for me. I also proposed for them to let me send the car to a mechanic in Ipoh who can help quickly repair the aircon. Not only was my every request shot down, the staff shockingly shouted at me on the phone when I requested if partial refund is possible since I’m forced to use the faulty car for another 3days in Ipoh, while the balance unused days when I’m bck to KL, I want to return the car & get back full refund for those days. My family ended up having to use a faulty car for a total of 5 days on a FULL rental sum!! Avoid this very bad car rental company!!! Customer service staff is extremely rude & arrogant to customer in her way of handling the issue, which in the 1st place stemmed entirely from their end, yet their response to customers is the “my way or the highway” type of attitude

Shocking

Shocking. After 2 weeks still no deposit back. Langkawi Nana her name was refused to give her number. Nobody answers the phone ever. On return nobody is there you have to leave the car with keys or miss your flight.
The car had so many faults on bodywork it was impossible to check all and I'm sure the mileage was clocked to look like new.
I'm going to go to langkawi again and there will be trouble. Malay service is awful . I will get back my money or damage a car to the equivalent value. See you soon

Our Malaysia Europcar experience

Our Malaysia Europcar experience
To whom it may concern! Yesterday, on the Christmas eve, we rented a car in the airport. Everything went nice, except:
1. When we asked for Langkawi island trip we had to pay extra 100 eur for some extra insurance. And although we agreed we were told its impossible to request it there and we have to contact ourself Europcar office in Kuala-Lumpur and only after Christmas passed.. What an inconvenience?
2. The person on the till informed us we must buy a Touch and Go card to use their local toll roads and that you can obtain it at any petrol station. We were happy with that, but at the very first car stop, we 've been told they sold out, the same happened on the next...There was no 3rd, we come accross with the toll gates. After 3 hours of helpless negotiations, driving, tears and loat extra 50 euros for the roads whixh would cost 5, we eventually got tonour destination which would take us 1 hour if we would be appropriately informed that the card can be obtained in the airport and that not every petrol station sells it..
We are so distrssed and disappointed about this experience!
3. You website is not even working to submit an appropriate review..
We dont want anyone to go through our experience in the future!

Much below standard

Very bad experience returning the car. Below standard. They let me park in a no-park zone which is an emergency exit of the other building. The showed up 15 mins late and did not apologize. Very bad.

A bad experience to avoid ..
For four days I rented a 10-year-old car that smelled of old that did not brake and that consumed 100 liters of gasoline for 1200km, luckily it costs 40 euro cents per liter .. avoid them.
