I have thus far that the staff are extremely friendly and more than happy to help but I have found that some of the equipment is a little out dated and the changing rooms are far too small.

Sudden closure of Ipswich gym.
Sudden closure of Ipswich gym. I emailed just after the closure giving notice of membership cancellation (building is shut so gym can only be emailed via the app). Have tried to email again to confirm I will be cancelling membership and direct debit having seved the 30 days notice but it wouldn't send due to app error. My Membership has been unfrozen- just before direct direct debit due but have been unable to cancel or freeze membership, gym phone isn't being answered either. I have tried to contact Harlands to check I won't be penalised but told to use app. Contry to what energie have said to previous reviews no alternative contact details have been provided. Only 2 emails to say they have closed.
Energie use confusing and unnessacerily difficult methods, to make it frustratingly difficult to cancel membership.

Closure of Ipswich club
The Ipswich club closed without notice on 21/12/2023. Since then there has been radio silence and no response to emails as to when or if the club will re-open. People just want to know what is going on, whether the club will re open and an anticipated date, so they can make decisions to wait or find alternatives. The complete lack of information/ communication to members is extremely poor

Gym closed temporarily or permanently?
No news on the reopening? Would have appreciated some communication from the administration?

Ipswich branch
Ipswich branch - was a great gym until 21/12/2023- Sudden closure, no updates as to when it will reopen. Memberships frozen, direct debits still being taken. No further updates from owner. Unable to get answers anywhere as to what’s happening. Énergie Franchise please address this issue ASAP - members need to know what’s happening and stop the threatening emails for non payment of membership. We’ve had to cancel DD as no facilities.

Sudden gym closure, loss of lease, unable to cancel membership
My local energie fitness gym in Ipswich closed suddenly on 21/12/23 without prior warning or explanation. Signs appeared quickly on gym doors to say that the lease had been forfeited and the building taken back by the co-op who owns it. The gym advised all members that their memberships had been frozen and payments would not be taken, this is not the case and payments have still been taken.
Members are unable to cancel memberships via the online portal as it states it has been frozen but the direct debit mandate is still live. Members who have cancelled their direct debit are now receiving emails from Harlands threatening extra fees if the payments are not made.
I have emailed the gym three times with the most recent being on 27/12/23 to give a months notice to notify of cancellation of my membership. Again, still no response.
I understand that this is a franchise however, is anyone at energie able to help with this matter of cancelling memberships?
It’s not a good representation of the brand.

The gym is now closed
The gym is now closed. Paying a membership that isn’t even accessible. Tried to cancel my membership on the app as the gym is now closed and there is no option to cancel the membership.
An absolute shambles ! I would like a refund.

Great local gym
I've been a member for a month and I'm loving it. Plenty of equipment, I've never found it too busy, and the staff a really friendly.
Avoid - too small - fee issues
Too small for the amount of people - had 50+ people in the gym at one point.
Issues with Direct Debit coming through at almost double the price! Was told that the paperwork that went out detailing my membership fee was automated and was actually wrong, then tried to get 30 days notice out of me at a price I didn't agree to!
They conceeded and let me leave without notice, but only after I complained that they'd breached the terms of their contract by trying to charge me more than the contract stated - automated or not, a contract is a contract!
UPDATE: I've unsubscribed from their mailing list half a dozen times and am STILL recieving emails and text messages. Sort it out.

AWFUL CUSTOMER CARE
Awful customer care. I rejoined in May 23 after cancelling during Covid. I went back wanting to get into strength training. It took nearly 3 wks to actually get an appt with Mark Burrows who specialises in strength training. He took me through a routine including lifting 150kg on the hack squat machine. I struggled with this & told him that I felt a strain in my lower back which concerned me. He said that this was normal & to carry on. I stupidly believed this & left the club happy, thinking everything was fine. The next morning I woke with severe back pain, unable to get out of bed properly, bend over, or walk without pain. I saw a chiropractor who advised that lifting extreme weights would have contributed to this pain & to not do excessive exercise until fully recovered. I immediately cancelled my membership having lost all trust & respect for the club. I received an email asking why I had cancelled my membership and wrote a reply explaining why. It was over a week before I got a reply (even though emails are checked daily apparently)The club manager was very apologetic & offered her own services in the way of a different exercise plan. I declined this as I was still in a huge amount of pain which I explained to her, stating that I was unfit to the use the gym & asked for a refund. I then got a very different response stating that one exercise was unlikely to gave caused the pain & it could have been caused by the the I had slept that night!! She said the personal trainer had emailed me after my session & I had not mentioned anything to him about back pain. It was 4 days after my first session with him that he emailed & it was only a list of exercises that he'd gone through, not even putting the weights on that I should use! By this time I had already cancelled my membership as I doubted whether they would take any responsibility, & I was proved right. She went on to inform me that I would not be getting a refund of one month as requested as they had provided alternative options for me!?
I find it extremely hard to believe that a so called personal trainer would expect someone with no strength training experience to lift such heavy wright's on a first session.
The customer service I have received has been extremely unprofessional.
I would never recommend this gym to anyone.
