Excellent service

Excellent service.
The bus is comfy and clean.
Bus driver and costumer service very kind and helpful full.

From when we discovered ember we use that service and recommend to everyone.

Driver fell ill on the bus.

I was on the 10pm bus from Glasgow to lnverness. I really like Ember busses. The drivers are very polite but this time something went seriously wrong. The driver had to stop the bus near Dunkeld & was sick outside. He came back on & told us he was sick. He phoned the company &they told him to continue to Perth. They told us to get our own taxis & pay for the fair ourselves. From Perth to lnverness or wait for the next bus. We had to wait in the pouring rain in the middle of winter in the middle of the night for nearly 3 hours. Then they told the driver who was very ill to drive the bus back to Glasgow. Does the company think this is acceptable.

Hi John - I'm sorry to hear of your frustration, We will always put safety first, and we'd like to just clarify that the driver was comfortable to continue to Perth in order to get passengers to a safe place. Given the time of night, we advised all passengers that if they were to get a taxi or other suitable alternative to their destination, Ember would reimburse this fare in full.

It's not perfect, but sometimes circumstances are challenging and we believe we did the right thing by both the driver and our passengers.

We wish you a Happy New Year and hope to see you on board again in 2026.

Travel in the 21st century

Ember brings bus travel into this century with a very slick online booking service, very comfortable coaches and importantly no direct CO2 emissions. Customer service is excellent with email enquiries answered within an hour.

We booked seats on the 05:41 coach to…

We booked seats on the 05:41 coach to Edinburgh airport from inverness city centre, our friend who was going to be travelling with us called to say the coach had been cancelled, we had to cancel our taxi into the city centre then find parking for the car at the last minute at Edinburgh airport, go for fuel then drive down after an early start.
Not how we had planned our day, we had no warning from Ember and could have taken a taxi to town to wait for a service which had been cancelled, that'll be the last attempt to travel with them.

Perfect journey on a miserable wet…

Perfect journey on a miserable wet winter day from Inverness to Glasgow on the 0900 service. Coach was immaculate and the driver was excellent and friendly. Definitely a cut above any other service I have experienced. Thank you.

Fantastic customer suppory!

First time travelling with Ember from Inverness to Glasgow. Great journey with no stops. I left my Kindle on the bus and discovered this half an hour after arriving at Buchanan St. Emailed ember support and incredibly within an hour and a half managed to be directed to the right bus coming back into Buchanan St from Dundee - driver knew my situation and we found my item. Could not believe how efficient the whole process was and it has restored my faith in bus operators. Batrosz solved the problem for me and deserves congratulations for making my day!

I took the Ember bus for the first time…

I took the Ember bus for the first time today, Glasgow to Inverness 10.00.
The boarding process was very easy, just scan your booking QR code. The driver was friendly and polite, the journey was smooth and comfortable.

E11 Dundee to Aberdeen

Great service. Clean, comfortable and has a toilet.
However
The drivers drive way way way too fast. Literally all of them. One driver performed an overtaking manouver as we were entering Dinnet, accelerating as we were passing the 30 signs. Quite frightening actually. Ive been choosing to sit at the front so I can watch their speed and one driver was doing 50 as we entered Aboyne heading East, and did not slow down passing a school til we got to the centre of the village. Deeside is full of small villages this bus passes through, with a new speed limit of 20 mph in most of them. Ember drivers ignore the 30 mph never mind the 20. They dont slow down entering Ballater either and something needs to be done. I asked one driver to slow down and he got snippy with me. If Ember really want to dominate this industry then the drivers need to slow down. I am literally going to start filming my experiences and reporting to police if they dont!

Absolutely recommend

First coach journey for years, from Edinburgh (Corstorphine) to Perth, and it was a joy from booking online (so simple) to the journey itself (friendly driver, good seats, easy-to-connect-to wifi). The only downside was that the bus was late by about 10 minutes in each direction – but even then it was an opportunity to discover other good things, such as the way you can track buses on a map so you can see exactly when they'll arrive. I'll definitely be going this way again.
Also liked the blog on the website where they clearly explain their ticket policy and general approach. An absolute pleasure to be treated like this.

Customer service did not accommodate these people who had already paid. Just book whatever’s bus next that you can get a seat on. DID NOT HELP EVERY CUSTOMER AFYER CANCELLED THEIR SERVICE

Due to staff illness bus had to stop in Stirling that’s ok and can’t be helped. But then the driver tells us they won’t be sending another bus and limited seats on the next. Quite happy to just dump you in the middle of Stirling and organise NOTHING FOR YOU. Just book whatever’s bus you can get on no matter what time difference is. Not only that. Driver informed everyone he had been sick for a while driving. He could’ve stopped at a transport hub in Perth instead of middle of nowhere.

I took the bus from Aberdeen City…

I took the bus from Aberdeen City Centre to Edinburgh Airport and vice versa. No complaints about the bus, the price, the communication and the driver. All good. However I had to get off at Aberdeen City Centre i.e. Union Street and due to recent snow me and my companion had to drag ourselves and our suitcases through layers of slush and snow and and had to slither over icy slopes on our way to the Bus Station. Very unpleasant and potential dangerous. Why is there no bus stop at the Aberdeen Bus Station? Like all the other long distance coaches, even Flix Bus. . Get Sorted!

Late EVERY Friday E3 Glasgow-Dundee

For the past 8 weeks the E3 from Glasgow to Dundee on Fridays has been late. And by over ½hr sometimes. You cannot expect people to wait out for that length of time in the cold of winter. If it is ALWAYS late then maybe the schedule needs attention because this lateness is becoming a pain and next week we will be taking the train. The Ember bus service would be excellent if ran well and on schedule.

Why have you reinvented windows?

As a bus service, impeccable, as per the other reviews. My beef is with the lighting... Driving through Glencoe, one of the most scenic valleys in the UK on a beautiful evening, you'd think the passengers would like to look out of the window. Well, you'd be wrong, according to Ember. The moment twilight commences, the ratio of window tint to internal lighting means the only thing you can see is the reflection of the insanely bright LED strip running the length of the bus. It's like we're razzing through Scotland inside a glow stick. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer to retain authority over the input of information into my eyes. If I dislike what I'm seeing, I use my eyelids to control the feed. On a related note, I work on boats and am virtually immune to travel sickness, but rocking and rolling down the A82 with zero visual reference is starting to test my resolve. At least my path to the toilet is well lit.
Edit: I can't believe I'm writing this, but the nice lady across the isle from me has just thrown up after staring straight ahead and breathing heavily for 20 minutes. You realise this is an avoidable problem: not every highland bus service needs complementary sick bags behind every seat. Rant over, keep up the good work in every other respect

Hey thank you very much Ember for employing good drivers like Tom,we were supposed to travel to Aberdeen from Edinburgh Park and ride to Aberdeen on the 8th of November my timing was 3:15 and and when the earlier bus came I ask the driver Tom generally whether he would take me in his bus and very polite he told yes despite I had a late ticket,the journey to Aberdeen was very comfortable,thank you once again Ember and Tom for making it a memorable one.

Excellent experience on Ember!

This is the second time i am using Ember and the experience so far has been fantastic.

The journey is seamless from start to finish, from the online booking system to the journey itself.

I was heading to the airport and had a large suitcase. However, it was no problem for the driver Lee, who has an amazing attitude and excellent customer service, who lifted it into the hold and off again when i reached my destinatiom.

Top marks Ember!
