I have to say
I have to say , if I could give 0 I would.
been on a full solar system (PAYG) for a year now.
havent had a micro gen credit in months been calling for help and emailing but no one is coming back to us. makes me think that electric Ireland are being dishonest about what energy PAYG customers are generating as there is no consistency in the micro gen top ups very worrying
Very poor or no customer service
Very poor or no customer service, website just dysfunctional.
Contact numbers mostly do not work.
If I could give - minus Stars I would
Customer Care is shocking
Customer Care is absolutely disgusting….
I don’t know how they get away with it they haven’t a clue and hanging up on customer is a no go in my books….
How they are still in business and sponsor such big event in the country is beyond me…
No power
I signed up for Electric Ireland on a Friday. Told the the connection would be through in a few hours, possibly up to 24 hours. Tuesday morning still no power. I was told it was a glitch on there system.
Worst company I have ever had the…
Worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Bills not sent on time and then two bills arrive together resulting in double payment causing financial stress. Ignoring my complaints. Grossly overestimated meter readings and refusal to amend bill when I submitted meter readings, despite having sent photo of readings including photo of date generated by the meter. Insisted on photo of meter readings whilst holding newspaper to verify the date of reading. Insisting this was an ESB requirement
I am still awaiting an accurate bill despite several phone calls and multiple emails
I would strongly advise anyone thinking about using Electric Ireland to go elsewhere.

Im a many year customer with Electric Ireland but now they are forcing me to change company. I had no issues with them at all but now their contract renewal is a joke.
I have got a call from them to renew my contract. First thing they have offered me to shop around giving me just a few days for this as contract is over on 29th. I asked what is their offer and i was told 16% off ( last year I had 18%) so 2 % down. I have told the agent ok ill shop around and will get back with my decision.
I called them back in 2 days saying Im ok to stay with 16% now they say offer os gone and they can offer me only 10% discount :D. My surprise was to the sky :). Does Electric Ireland have too many customers and so actively forcing loyal customers to go away?
Avoid . Unless you love stress. Having no gas or esb
Worst ever trying to go pre pay gas and electricity. Sorry I bothered with them. I want to get out of dealing with them. Too stressed 😫 from simple enough task.
Awful switching experience
Awful switching experience. Asked for dual fuel to be transferred - they only transferred gas and didn't notify me that elec transfer hadn't gone through (they input details incorrectly). Have now noticed that they transferred gas for the day I called rather than the next day as requested therefore I have received a €50 early termination charge for my previous supplier.

Most expensive provider in Ireland €700 for two months in a 4 bedroom house.
I changed provider and now it's half price at €350 for two months
It takes two months to finalize the…
It takes two months to finalize the contract, a nerve-wracking process, and then 300 euros show up, supposedly as a security deposit. But the main thing is that no one pays attention to the notoriety, and you can't figure out what this deposit is??? It feels like this isn't Ireland, but North Korea.
Worst company out there
Worst company out there. Estimated bills so high and don't take into account meter readings when sent.
Overwhelming mount thing money from your account you I'll be over charged then by your bank if you don't have the mount in your account due to them over charging. Bad phone manners from some people working there waiting on calls and then being hung up on. I was with them for 2 years and never got cashback. As bad as bordgais
Complaint Service Diabolical
My God. My Current Contract With Electric Ireland Ends on 9/3/2026. Already I Have Arranged Switching To Another Supplier. Electric Irelands Service Is Diabolical End Of. Countless times Kept Holding on Phone For 15/20 Minutes While The Rep Went To Check My A/c Details. 0/10 In My Opinion. Shoddy Service At Best Diabolical In Reality. !!!!!!!!!!!!
Worst platform and customer service…
Worst platform and customer service ever,
Their website doesnt work
The account making process doesnt work
The helpline workers dont know what they are doing
Never will i ever go with them again
Everything that could go wrong went wrong
Everything that could go wrong went wrong. The only thing that would save this company would be to bury it deep down where no one would ever hear of it again.
42 days to get a contract renewed
Tried to renew my contract with EI last December. They had a software issue their end so couldn't put me on the new rate( 24%) immediately so was put on the basic 5.5% saving rate until the issue could be resolved. I was told by 2 electric ireland reps that the 24% saving would be backdated to the end of my old contract because the delay wasn't of my making.
Several phone calls and 42 billing days later( yes! 42!) And EI finally got their crap together and got me onto the advertised 24% savings rate. But the representative conveniently forgot to tell me that the new rate was only applicable from yesterday, not at the end of my previous contract! So I paid a higher rate of kph and a miserable 5.5% reduction instead of the promised 24% for 42 days because EI reps lied to me on the phone! 2 of the highest electricity bills I've ever had! Shocking customer service!
If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars, I would have taken that option. I have been trying to transfer back from a PAYG meter to bill pay for the last month. This meter was installed at a property I moved back into only to discover that there were substantial arrears by the previous occupants. Putting in this meter was a dual purpose, to stop disconnection, and to repay the arrears. This is not a cheap option, the unit rate is more expensive, standing charge applied daily even if there is no power being used, debt repayment 15% of every top up. Cannot avail of cost saving measures like night time usage. The PAYG credit control of electric Ireland cannot be contacted. Electric Ireland refer you to PAYG section, queries raised, no reply or conclusion to these queries. I would not recommend to anyone to have one of these meters installed, they are extremely expensive to run, and there is absolutely no customer service with either electric Ireland or PAYG electric Ireland. In fact they appear to be two separate entities within the same company
Closed account, not the one I'm using, sick of them
Online keeps linking me to a closed unused account and not my valid one ! Incredibly frustrating and maddening, absolute amateurs
Terrible experience with this company.
Terrible experience with this company.
My advice to others record any unsolicited calls from this company.
Do not rely on them to produce a fair transcript of the call.
Excellent customer service via the chat…
Excellent customer service via the chat option, email received before contract expired, new contract discussed and agreed in less than 10 minutes.

Absolutely shocking incompetent company! Been dealing with them daily with emails and calls, only to be told after day 5 resend original email! Then got told not dealing with right department! Find telephone staff so rude with no empathy or understanding. Use a different company if you don’t want any stress!!
