I bought an item through Ebay UK. I checked the reviews before purchase and all were good. However my item arrived broken. The items was poorly packaged and would never have survived worldwide postage and was nearly $100 Australian Dollars.

When I then took up the issue with Ebay they undertook an "investigation". 2 months later I heard nothing and I followed up only to be told by Ebay that the item was sent from Ireland which is not covered by their protection mechanisms. They told me to contact PayPal who in turn contacted the seller who naturally will not provide a refund as they know that Ebay will do nothing about the damaged item.

So essentially sellers based in Ireland can hide behind the UK Ebay site, sell anything they like, create fake reviews and Ebay will support their fraudulent activity. In fact, by their very inaction, Ebay are endorsing this behaviour. If Ebay were against the sale of items not as described they would not allow Ireland based sellers to seel through the Ebay website.

I cannot warn people off enough - DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY UK sellers as you are at a very high risk of not receiving the goods at all or receiving broken or damaged goods with no recourse from Ebay.

Ebay.ie can see for themselves the excessive postage charges that are forceing customers to purchase from Hong Kong, China ect causing long delays in delivery times.

-10 for them too same as PayPal. After 9 years had to close my account due to security issues are they interested - no. I am out of pocket £120 for goods dispatched and money sent to wrong paypal account and lost sales £270. Very hard to contact don’t seem to understand simple English and pass you from pillar to post.

I have purchased from eBay a number of times and most recently I purchased phone cases as they are 60% cheaper from an online British seller compared the phone stores in Ireland. The site is easy to navigate on your desktop, but I find the mobile site a bit frustrating and only use it to find a product and then email the link to myself.

I mostly order from UK sellers, but I have ordered from China. The UK products always arrive within the time frame, but the products from China arrive a bit later than expected. Sometimes it can be 1 to 2 weeks after the expected delivery date that they have given you when ordering.

I understand why it happens and usually what I have ordered isn't something I need immediately so it's fine. But I think this needs to be amended on eBay delivery policy. We all know issues can arise with getting the product out on time and getting it all the way to Ireland especially from China as it is no where near as close to Ireland as the UK is, so I understand why it happens..

But other than that, I've been lucky to never have had any issues with them and I am happy to order from them again.

Don´t buy anything through Ebay. I have not received my order, and cannot get in contact with Ebay. They make it so difficult to reach them, so you give up. I wonder where my money is? Probably in Ebay´s pocket or Pay pal´s. Pay Pal is also a bad compagny.

Sometimes you can find products for a cheap money. But it's very annoying that the conversation between currencies is different when you make a bid/offer and when you have to pay, that's a very unfair trading policy, simply called fraud. (and no, that's not the difference between Ebay's and PayPal calculation, it's Ebay itself)
If you are selling something, you will face with very high success fees on Ebay, more than 10%.

In overall I like to use it to buy things, I know that the price what is displayed is not true, if you calculate with this (+2%), then no unexpected surprise will occur.

Good if you buying something and deal complete without issues.

If any problems with purchase then you will talk "with wall": send an question to ebay and get standard answer " please read FAQ or contact seller or resolve problem on paypal". They no care about buyer, they care only to receive fees and charges.

If private seller and sell something then fees/charges over high. You loose more then get.

Everything work for only for paying fees/charges to ebay and no care about buyers and sellers

I am a retailer of musical instruments for almost 15 years on EBay.
Since this summer EBay and Paypal decide on everything! The dishonest customers have beautiful days in front of them indeed!

Bought something and as soon as I did I got a message saying the account I had purchased from had been compromised. I got onto their customer care and they said they couldn't do anything. I contacted paypal and managed to get my money back. Meanwhile ebay are sending me messages telling me how secure my account is and how they are making sure my account is secure. Thing is what about the poor guy who's account had been compromised? Ebay obviously hadn't kept his account secure had they? so why should I believe them when they tell me mine is lol. Update - so I used eBay again and bought what turned out to be rubbish from a power seller with good ratings. The thing is as I found out when trying to leave a review of the seller is that u have to wait 1 week to leave negative feedback but can leave positive feedback straight away. So to get around this ppl leave negative feedback with positive Stars so it's published straight away. This gives a false feedback overall view so the seller has a higher rating than their true rating. Closed my eBay account down much rather just use Amazon as all eBay does is give me problems and their customer service is awful.

ebay continues to be the easiest site for selling most items - they have the payment process down pat and make posting a breeze.

terrible customer support if there is an issue with a seller in Asia

I use ebay a lot with 500+ transactions, the prices and options are great but the service varies dramatically from one seller to the next, and seems to be deteriorating. I've had more paypal disputes in the last year than the 9 years before that combined.

I only deduct one star due to the search showing up absolutly everything related to what you're looking for! Especially if you sort it by lowest price and postage. This is the only annoying thing. If you're using ebay just make sure you read the description of what you're getting and if you're not sure order from trusted sellers with high feedback ratings. Anything else is a bigger risk naturally enough.

I have read that ebay is paying Asians to go and write a good recommendation in pages such as Trustpilot. the webpage is not as good as every one thinks.
Try to go through the 5 stars Ebay has and notice how shady those accounts are! their profile here at trustpilot is a scam
Im concerned online ordering has come to this, consumers is ending up with no rights and no warranty when multinational corporations are working like this.

Love shopping on Ebay. Always give longer for delivery than stated than. Other than that great website

I always order from ebay never had any trouble with them alot of the time its very fast delivery great help if there is any problems

It just kills the fun of online buying, seller just cancelled the order after requesting an 8 day extension.
