Update. Leaky caravan

Update.
As per our previous review, we bought a car and caravan from this company. Due to the car engine failure we had been without a vehicle so were unable to use the caravan. We have since had to purchase another car and at first opportunity took the caravan away to make sure everything was ok. Of course it wasn't, the shower is leaking from behind the fascia. So not only did they sell us a defective car, they also sold us a defective caravan.

Buyer beware !!

Buyer beware !!
We bought a brand new Fiat Ducato based Sunlight motorhome towards the end of 2024 from Durham caravans and to be fair we got a great deal
On collection as we live on the Isle of Man with no Fiat “professional” garage and no Sunlight dealer both required for warranty work and to keep the warranty up to date I asked the question “is it possible to use our local garage and habitation company to do the checks or work without effecting the warranty” Paul who is one of the owners so should know his stuff answered “yes as long as the companies you use are VAT registered have your habitation checks etc done then e-mail a copy of the stamped paperwork to us and we will forward it to the manufacturers” I took his word as a gentleman so did not get anything in writing I now wish I had as his answer was a lie
We had a problem so contacted Kayleigh at Durham caravans who was very polite but said she could not help so I contacted Fiat and Sunlight who both told me anything to do with warranty work must be done by Fiat “professional” who deal with commercial vehicles or a Sunlight dealer for the habitation and can not be done by a third party
This review is a warning to anyone using Durham caravans for a dream purchase please get any questions you have that could potentially cost you thousands of pounds answered in writing or you too a year down the line could find what you were told at the time of purchase is not true

Durham caravan & motorhome Ltd - Not to be trusted

We enjoyed 3 wonderful years with our motorhome. My ex decided to buy a brand new motorhome for his retirement from this company - Durham Caravan & Motorhome Ltd. It took 6months for it to be built. He was notified in July it was ready to be picked up. After bringing it home, he had nothing but trouble with it, the company got it booked into 2 different garages and both stated it had major problems. The battery was flat and the dropdown bed wasnt working, gearbox warning light came on, habitation door didnt work. It had to be jumped started in the 2nd garage before my ex could drive it back to Durham. The sales person of the company stated everything was working perfectly but they will put it into their own Fiat dealer for it to be checked over. Why do this if it was working perfectly? This all happened within the “short-term right to reject” period. They rejected his claim stating it was in perfect working order. He went through Consumers Advice, letters etc went back and forth, ICO were requested. Still they were adamant he wasnt getting his money back and motorhome returned or to get a replacement motorhome. In the end he had to take a big loss and resold the lemon back to the company. He was so looking forward to his retirement and travelling abroad with his new motorhome now all that has gone, he has lost all trust now with motorhomes and the companies that sell them. If you decide to buy a motorhome do your investigations thoroughly. Check out reviews etc

Thanks Durham Caravans & Motorhome Ltd for destroying his life long dream.
