Classic Tour in Andalusia

In September, we took part in an eight-day classic car tour through Andalusia organised by Drive España. Our group consisted of a great selection of classic cars, including an Austin-Healey, AC Cobra, Jaguar E-Type, MGAs, Mercedes SLs, Porsches and others.

Speaking on behalf of several participants, unfortunately, we felt that the service provided by Drive España fell short of what we would expect from an organiser specialising in classic car tours.

A number of the routes were not particularly suitable for vintage and classic cars. Lunch stops were not properly planned, and the organised group dinners generally did not meet our expectations in terms of either food quality or location.

More generally, the event often felt as though it lacked the care, attention to detail and personal touch that you would expect from a professionally organised classic car tour. At several of the hotels, the group did not appear to have been properly prepared for, and in some cases even parking arrangements had not been organised in advance.

Several participants raised these concerns directly with the owner of Drive España. Unfortunately, rather than taking responsibility for the shortcomings or addressing the feedback constructively, he attributed many of the problems to members of our club and to the hotels.

Overall, our experience was disappointing. Drive España appears to have received a number of very positive reviews, but based on our experience, we unfortunately cannot share that assessment. For a classic car tour, we would expect considerably more attention to detail, better planning and a stronger focus on the specific needs of classic car drivers.

look for other agencies

Based on our experience with Drive Espana before, during and after our recent 1-week classic car tour thru Andalusia in Sept 2026 (Denia, Lorca, Granada, Cordoba, Cuenca, El Saler, Denia) we will definitively look for other agencies when planning future tours. The service Drive Espana provided for our group did not meet a single criteria relevant to our group. Missing quality and consideration regarding proposed routes, stops, group meals. In addition we experienced customer orientation in the most adverse form when addressing these shortcomings. In hindsight we should have checked available online comments and previous customer feedback in more detail. See ChatGPT, Grok, Claude indicating that the few reviews regarding the marketed experience (>120 tours organised) mostly appear on Drive Espana's website. In our case the Drive Espana physical Roadblock arrived last minute making it difficult to better prepare in due time. When we then raised concerns regarding the non-scenic, busy, routes proposed in the roadbook, Drive Espana's owner responded: "Book is adequate because nobody has yet failed to find a hotel and that is the measure of whether or not the road is adequate." This summarises the diametral differences in expectations very well. In our opinion scenic routes and quality stops should be the core value and experience of a company offering specialty services for classic car tours. Based on a claim of 120+ tours organised one would expect a solid standing with hotels and their services, too. We could not experience that. The opposite was true: failing arrangements (several hotel dinners / parking) and no sense of a welcome back as a tour / group organised by Drive Espana. Luckily we are a group of people that were able enjoy our time together - not because of Drive Espana, but despite of the service we experienced from this agency.
