Make sure you get what was agreed - if not, walk away

Bought a car from them, the garage was over an hour away. Agreed that two things would be done to the car included in the sale, they weren't.
Despite numerous chases and promises and its inclusion in the deal I paid for, the warranty has not been sent.
Do your checks but if something feels off, trust it.

Positive experience

I had a positive experience and would use this company again. When you're buying any car always go with a trusted competent mate. Don't rely on a salesman to tell you all the problems. Get down on your hands and knees to look all over it make sure things are complete and solid. Bring a torch and a magnet to check for filler, corrosion etc etc. Buy with your head not your heart. The car has not given me any trouble since I bought it. I was buying a small second car. I held off making the review until it had gone through its annual MOT in the event something crawled out the woodwork but nothing unexpected appeared relative to the age and mileage for the vehicle. The sale itself went without any hitch.

ABSOLUTE CROOKS!!! AVOID!!!

I should have listened to the reviews online, and if I could give 0 stars I would! This company do not even deserve 1 star!! Sold me a red Mini Cooper 1.5 (WG15 ZCV) on finance that has multiple pre existing issues! My mechanic connected the car to a diagnostic computer, where multiple fault codes have been identified relating to numerous different things. My mechanic suspects these fault codes were reset by the garage before selling the car to me! A day after this the engine light came on. The garage have refused to investigate or repair and are refusing to refund my delivery fee!!! These guys are absolute crooks!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Scum bags

Scum bags. Andy is a absolute tool that sells you a car with issues then not reply back to messages and phone calls he's always busy and says to you that he will ring back. No phone call what so ever. I brought a focus off him and after 2 days engine light come on. Didn't care when contacted him. 2 months later the duel mass fly wheel is rattling. Can happen at anytime but there is warranty but he's not bothered. Cost me 9k for car then 1600 for clutch and flywheel and to sort out engine light. Plus I dunno how it past its mot with the wheel bearing like it was.
Just scums that takes your money. Even down the logbook wasn't a valid one so could not tax it and had to apply for a new one myself after being told several times will be with me soon.

Corrupt company - do not buy cars from here

Avoid DK Cars and Vans at all costs, take a witness with you to every car dealer you go to have everything in writing, pay by credit card (you are covered under the Section 75). I appreciate my review is a very long one, but it will give you a complete insight into everything relating to my experience with the corrupt DK Cars and Vans.

I found DK Cars and Vans on Auto Trader. I was interested in a car they had for sale at the time Citroen C1 - LD15 FSF.

Andy initially appeared as a genuine and nice person, he verbally stated that if I am unsatisfied with the vehicle upon delivery, he will give me my £200 deposit back. I had a friend who witnessed everything that Andy and I discussed.

I made the deposit payment of the £200 deposit which was a huge mistake. everything went downhill few days after. Andy raised his voice several times on the phone and became verbally aggressive as time went by.

During our discussion of the delivery date of the vehicle as I had to arrange a day off from work to sign for the vehicle, I let Andy pick the delivery date considering all the work that was needed for the vehicle, as outlined below. Andy reassured me that he will be able to get everything sorted out and deliver the vehicle on Wednesday 23rd of June 2021.

The agreement Andy and I had verbally and in writing to have the following carried out on the vehicle:

1. Full Valet inside and out
2. Sort out any marks/scratches
3. New mats
4. Oil filter change
5. brand new battery
6. HPI report that was going to be emailed to me on the 21st of June 2021.
7. Replacement of rear wiper motor and handbook
8. Delivery of the vehicle no later than Wednesday 23rd of June 2021.
9. Check why the mirror function was not working when my phone was connected.

I called Andy for the HPI check result to be emailed to me. He kept calling me by mistake throughout the week mistaking me for another customer and leaving me voice mails relating to his other customers. It was too much going back and forth and the following excuses he made up: He is out of the office, does not have access to a computer and that his colleague will email the HPI.

Andy from Dk Cars and Vans called me to say that the rear wiper motor is the problem and that they are waiting for a new part to come in. He insisted on making the delivery on the 1st of July 2021. I asked him if the repair and other works were done on the vehicle, he said no, the rear wiper arm motor still requires fixing and that he was able to get a new battery for the vehicle as the battery flat on the day myself and my friend viewed the vehicle.

I tried explaining to Andy my point of view where he has put myself and my employer in a difficult situation where I must ask my employer for a day off at such short notice and that I want the car fixed so that I do not have to go back and forth waiting for work to be done. I tried negotiating with Andy to have the vehicle delivered 1 week later so that it gives notice to my employer to authorise my AL and gives time for Andy to make the repairs. He refused and in an aggressive manner he said: ‘You do not understand, I am running out of space on the forecourt, and I need the car moved.’ It was apparent that he did not care the difficult position he put me in and completely ignored the fact that I wanted the vehicle fixed before delivery.

Andy explained that he planned on delivering the vehicle to me and when motor delivery was made, he would drive down, collect my car, go back to his garage to make the repair then return my car to me. Bear in mind that this did not make sense because his business is located 30 miles away from me, a total of 1 hour 45-minute drive each journey. Why would anyone in their right mind make 4 journeys that is 1 hour 45-minute drive per trip?

I reluctantly agreed to have the vehicle delivered to me, but I asked Andy to meet me at a local garage because I wanted a mechanic to check the vehicle. Andy again raised his voice in an inappropriate manner stating that I am wasting his time and that he is not willing to stick around for a mechanic to check the vehicle. I then said, if he does not want to proceed with the sale then he can withdraw and give me my £200 deposit back.

He said I will lose my deposit regardless of if he pulls out from the sale or not, he was adamant that he will not give me my £200 and that I will have to go court to get it back, which he promised even then I won’t get my money back.

Andy turned up at the garage as agreed, the mechanic had a look at the engine and battery + other aspects of the vehicle.

Positive Experience

I was looking for a cheap car with a years MOT and found one on AutoTrader from DK Cars & Vans, they had plenty of positive reviews on AutoTrader which swayed me. I found them to be very professional. Car was very clean and tidy as was the office. Salesman was very relaxed and easy going. Would buy from again.

Report DK Cars and Vans Ltd to Auto Trader

Beware Dk Cars And Vans owner is an out and out liar and will cheat you. I am a disabled person and i P/EX my perfect working order car for a 6 years younger upgrade from Dk Cars And Vans. Why oh why did i not read the reviews before i bought a car from this criminal i will never know? (Don't make the same mistake as me!) First the car was delivered with the interior filthy and stinking, but we cleaned it all up and put new seat covers on and new mats down. Straight away it was difficult to drive as it would not go into gear easy and after a week or so it seized up and would not go into gear at all stranding me at a set of busy traffic lights, lucky after a while some young lads took pity on me and pushed me to a local garage where they worked on it for 2 hours reattaching linkage cables, this cost us £156. They also said they could not promise it won’t happen again and that the car may need a new linkage and the cost would be around £800. Dk Cars And Vans ignored my emails for a couple of days then they did contact me after i told them the problem was starting again, getting difficult going into first gear. We agreed to give it seven days to see if it still has the problem but i could not as the car stopped working altogether after a couple of days, again stranding me a disabled person miles from home. I told Dk Cars And Vans but i was ignored again. Then i sent an email asking for my money back under The Consumer Rights Act 2015 which makes it an implied term of the contract I have with Dk Cars And Vans that goods be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality and as Dk Cars And Vans are in breach of contract and I've owned the product for less than 30 days I am within my statutory rights to ask for a full refund of the original cost paid. But of course i have been ignored. I have had to buy another from a good dealer thank goodness. Now once Dk Cars And Vans have ignored my request for 14 days i can the take it to Trading Standards and The Motor Ombudsman and then onto court if i have to. All you hundreds of people out there who have been cheated by Dwayne Kochan owner of Dk Cars And Vans Ltd please make sure you report him to Auto Trader (where he claims to be a highly rated dealership) and to your local Trading Standards office and most importantly The Motor Ombudsman. It is time to stop him getting away with it.
