Diveworldwide “Snorkelling with humpback whales on the silver banks”

Booked a trip to “snorkel with humpback whales in the silver banks” in January 2023. This was meant to be a holiday of a lifetime for me and my wife .The holiday cost us £12,000 and has turned out to be the most dreadful Horrible holiday I have ever been on.
Diveworldwide subcontracted the holiday out to a company called aggressor adventures it soon became apparent that these people didn’t have a clue on how to place us in the water with a humpback whales. unlike the explore adventures boat which was moored 500 yards from ours. They had daily on water interactions with humpback whales every single day.
When we got home, I rang Diveworldwide and complained about the dreadful holiday. They said that they had placed me at the right place at the right time where the whales were, and I was not guaranteed to see any wildlife whatsoever, and there was no chance of any form of refund or compensation.

I think it’s very important for anyone thinking of using Diveworldwide to know that if you go on a holiday which is to see a certain species of marine life. If you don’t see that life, Diveworldwide do not pay any form of compensation whatsoever, and it’s just bad luck that you didn’t see it.
I wouldn’t recommend Diveworldwide to anybody. There are much more professional dive holiday operators out there.

Reply from Dive Worldwide

Dear Simon,

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry that you did not have the experience you had hoped for on your diving holiday to the Dominican Republic. Having operated diving trips for over 20 years we pride ourselves on our excellent service and outstanding holidays, so it is of course concerning to read your review.

On your return you advised that you did not have the wildlife sightings you hoped for which you felt was due to a lack of competence of the crew onboard the Aggressor. We subsequently investigated and provided a full response. We confirmed that the necessary training for the crew was provided by the Aggressor ahead of your trip, with a special training captain (in addition to the captain) working with the crew throughout the week and who was directly involved in operating the tenders. We also obtained the logs from the trip on board the same vessel departing immediately after yours and the guests were fortunate to experience some excellent whale encounters, all organised by the same crew on your trip. We are acutely aware that the encounters experienced by guests on the next departure only serves to make your disappointment greater.

Whilst wildlife encounters can never be guaranteed we are of course never happy when a client does not have the experiences they hope for and share in your disappointment.

Kind regards
Dive Worldwide Team

Fabulous service from Dive Worldwide

Finally got around to writing our review. Sorry to hear about the previous posters experience with Dive Worldwide but my wife and I booked with them for a month long holiday in French Polynesia (we are from the UK), in September 2018, the holiday included, Tahiti, Moorea, Huahine, Bora Bora, and Raitea and was absolutely fabulous. Every pick-up and drop-off and flight during our island holiday was on time and perfectly arranged. Every dive package and island tour was on time and exactly as planned and each pension / guest house was excellent and fulfilled our booking requests to the letter, and actually in all cases exceeded our expectations tremendously.
We can honestly say that we would definitely book with Phil and his team from Dive Worldwide again without hesitation, as they tailored our holiday absolutely perfectly to what we asked for.

Rip Off

Last October I decided to finally fulfill my dream of diving in the Galapagos. After looking around online I found Diveworld. I spoke to Matt Howell who was very pleasant and helped me find a boat that was available.
I was told that I had to decide asap as there were only a couple of spaces left on the boat - I felt very pressured but decided to pay the deposit as I didn't want to lose the opportunity.
I also told Matt that some friend of mine may book as well and he promised to arrange a retrospective discount.
3 other friends booked and when I reminded him of this he completely backed out of it. I had paid the deposit so there was nothing I could do.
After the money was taken the level of service I received was non existent.
A friend mentioned that I might need a VISA to transit through the USA - Matt didn't even mention this to me and had I not specifically asked the question I would have been rejected at US customs.
He also tried to put me into a shared hotel room with one of my friends during a transfer, when we had agreed a private room.
He had verbally agreed when we agreed the price that he would include the BCD rental - when i reminded of this he pointed me to the terms and conditions and said we never discussed when we did - totally my fault for not taking it in writing before I paid the deposit.

Diving in the Galapagos was amazing but I also found out what other divers paid booking the same boat both earlier and later then I had booked and Diveworld were 30% more expensive! Also the boat was not full, so in the end I realised MAtt used the oldest trick in the book and pressure sold me, knowing this was a dream trip for me.
Great boat. Amazing diving - go there JUST DONT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. You can definitely get a better service and price elsewhere.
