Two ipad repairs

Two ipad repairs. Two *good* ipad repairs. One screen glass replacement, which didn't take even a day to complete. Very smart service indeed. The second was a tougher one, but even so did not take too long. Charges? Reasonable. Expertise is a rare thing - and reasonably priced and ACCESSIBLE expertise is even rarer. Steve is the guy with that expertise who’ll advise on your repair. Trust him. Were lucky to have a shop like this in St Andrews. Finally. I’m a two times customer. I am Not Steve’s buddy, and have no connection to this very useful shop other than being a returning customer.

Second time I have used this shop for a repair to my phone, then my Dads phone. Brilliant service, quick and friendly. Highly recommend!

Speedy and very effective repair

I was recommended Disc Depot by the technician in Select Dundee (Apple resellers). I took my iMac there with its dud hard drive at c. 10.30. I was given a diagnosis and the replacement SDD was in place (and the Mac running better than before) by 17.00 the same day. Not only that, but the work was done for a very fair price.

Excellent service,daughters iphone screen was replaced quickly and back up service was excellent.

Extremely poor

Extremely poor. I submitted my macbook pro for repair. It would not power on. I was given back my laptop but the issue was not resolved. I returned to the shop and i assume a second attempt to repair was attempted over the course of 2 days. When i went to collect my laptop I was instantly given a full refund and my laptop minus its battery and effectively ushered out of the shop "because its too much work to fix" apparently. However when I investigated further it became apparent that an attempt to adjust the motherboard had failed and destroyed the connection to the screen- It would no longer power on- it had no battery and the screen was permanently broken. Disk depot returned my macbook in far worse condition than it was originally submitted. I implore people to avoid the services of this company.

Laptop crash

I took in my laptop, which had crashed due to a firmware update, expecting a huge bill, but I needed to retrieve my files. Disc Depot fixed it and not only were my files retrieved the laptop is like new! On top of that, the bill was remarkably low! Lifesaver!

Darren is a wizard. I spilled a full cup of tea on my baby (laptop) and he fixed it within a day. Amazing service.

iMac slow

iPhone speaker not working, made a repair but it didn't last, repaired/replaced part next day, no quibble no fuss, no extra cost. We asked about a slow iMac, gave us advice which we decided to go with - guy said you'll be shocked at difference - he was right!! its never been this good!! thanks for the help

Well pleased

Staff helpful, surprised to see bad reviews on here, never had a problem

Great experience at Disk Depot with…

Great experience at Disk Depot with Darren who fixed my MacBook Pro for a much better price than I could afford from apple store. Knowledgeable, honest and friendly. Would recommend to all my friends.

Ridiculous service

Ridiculous service. Lied and continued to break down my laptop. 28days they had my laptop. If you enter the shop and Darren is working ask for another server. He doesn’t know what he’s doing what so ever. Just avoid the shop at all cost

This customer had their laptop brought in for a screen replacement and supplied their own screen. We noticed that this wasn't the right screen for that model and had to order the correct one in. Once this arrived and we were able to start the repair we noticed there were other issues with the laptop on top of that. As a result of all this, the repair took longer than expected.

In the end we managed to get the laptop fixed and honoured the original price the customer was quoted even though it cost us considerably more to fix.

Excellent service and value for money

I took my son's Apple Mac Pro laptop in as it had ceased working. The staff at Disk Depot were excellent - very helpful. They repaired the laptop, replacing the hard drive and had it ready for collection in just two days. The bill was very reasonable. I am happy to recommend Disk Depot

Great little .co.uk shop

Great little .co.uk shop, I mistakenly missed an item at checkout, a quick phone call after sorted it out. My items came on time well packaged with in a cardboard box and cushioning material. Review Disk Depot, Dundee.

Wish I had read some of the reviews before trusting them with my 3 year old working iMac that had an intermittent fault. They only get one star as no stars is not an option. Avoid. Go elsewhere or, as in my case, throw your expensive tech straight in the bin and avoid the frustration.

Their communication is appalling. They never call back when they say they will, no one is there to answer your 10th call to them as they are out, just popped out or on day off. Only an excuse. When asking to leave a message for the staff member who was working on my computer I was told no, I had to ring back. If you do get to speak to a staff member its funny how they are always about to get on with that job.

Now I know that fixing tech is not a simple science, but the said they had found the fault and I needed a new Hard Drive. A couple of weeks and £350 later, on 4th September, I picked up my iMac to find the same fault and some new ones. Back it went 3 days later and after more weeks and phone calls and more excuses I was told they could not fix the original fault or the new faults and by the way we have cracked your screen. They then offered £175 to buy my iMac from me, scrap value, on top of my £350 I insisted on getting back. I felt their offer of compensation was poor so took their option 2 where they would replace the screen and return my Mac to me with my £350. Poor Poor Poor Customer Care. AVOID

Its now12th October, that's approximately 8 week after first dropping my iMac at their Dundee branch. Now waiting for call to say when I can get my iMac and my money back. Best not to hold my breath. Will update

Frustrating, uninformed and disinterested service...

Never had customer service so lacking or slow - unless you're looking for frustrating, uninformed and disinterested service, I would strongly advise you look elsewhere.

Sent in a large batch of LCD screens for them to recycle, having emailed back and forth with a guy who was very abrupt and not particularly helpful - only chose this company as their website was extremely clear on the requirements they consider when grading damaged screens, and their prices appeared to be very competitive.
Waited about a week without any contact, which is slightly unnerving in any case, to have a basic email report come through explaining why they wouldn't pay out for half the box. Disappointing to see they don't follow the standards explained on their own website, but I thought it better to take what was offered as the screens are useless to us, and we have better things to do.
Replied to accept their offer and query the next step - 9 days later I'm calling their office to ask what the delay is, why has nobody had the courtesy to reply, and why has our payment not been sent yet. The youngster on the phone advised that they make payment in batches so he can't tell me when we'll get the money, and didn't understand my frustration at having heard nothing in 9 days?! So I'm told to email again to chase the payment and await further contact. A few hours later, I'm still waiting for a call or email, and no sign of any money.

Do yourself a favour, and go elsewhere.

Our apologies for the delay in getting back to you initially.

Your form was forwarded for payment on the 18th of February. You'd asked for this to be done via your bank account but no account details had been filled in. My colleague emailed you on the 19th requesting this information and replying to your concerns about the rejected screens.

Unfortunately, we haven't received a reply yet, and your complete order is still in its original box awaiting your instructions.

To further expand on the rejected screens. We have emailed you pictures of the screens we could not accept. Most have visible bruising or pixel damage to the screen itself, both of which are unfixable. We refurbish the screens ourselves and bruised screens are not accepted because the bruise is even more prominent once the glass has been changed. It's not always visible under casual use, but if the screen is showing a black background under low light conditions, it can stand out badly. Our trade customers would not accept this quality of screen.

Unlike other recyclers, we do accept screens with white spots on the backlight, since- in those cases- we can change the backlight assembly to make the screen look new. Regrettably, bruises on the screen itself cannot be worked around in the same way, which is why such LCDs are rejected.

As we could see that you weren't happy with the outcome of the report, we've offered to return all your screens to you in the same condition they arrived. Alternatively, we can purchase the good screens and return the rejected ones. Normally we charge the customer the cost of the postage if they want their faulty screens returned. However, in this case we've offered to waive this charge so that you can inspect them yourself.

We've sent a followup email covering the same concerns addressed here; if you could reply to that, letting us know what you'd like to do, we'll carry that out ASAP.

Highly recommend NOT using this shop

Highly recommend NOT using this shop. Took my phone in to get the screen fixed n pin magically changed from a 6 digit pin to a 4 digit in which the guy Manager insisted that he didn’t change but it doesn’t change on its own? Told me either to pay and take the not working phone or he was gonna put the old screen back on which he did and he didn’t do properly. Customer service was atrocious and Manager was cheeky, arrogant, argumentative and just had a bad attitude overall. Will definitely 100% not be back.

phone repair

Had smashed phone screen repaired here today. More than happy with the friendly staff and efficiency in which this was carried out. The cost was a pleasant surprise, would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Called to query about a laptop key…

Called to query about a laptop key replacement. A single key. DIY kits online were about £6 but figured I might not be able to do it myself. So I called Disk Depot and was quoted £35 - £55 because they'd need to "order in a whole keyboard". I'd rather try myself 6x over to be honest.
