Don't rent here
I strongly advise against renting from Dirent. My experience was a nightmare involving an attempt to keep my entire security deposit for a pre-existing issue.
During my rental, they had to swap my first car for another one due to a mechanical issue that was not my fault. At the time of the swap, the staff confirmed it wasn't my fault and everything seemed fine. When I finally returned the second car, the check-out went smoothly and they again said there were no issues.
However, just two hours later while I was on the plane, they sent me a report claiming over €2,000 in damages on the first car, blaming me for a pre-existing mechanical failure. They immediately charged my card for the full deposit amount. To make matters worse, they even asked for my private insurance details, clearly hoping I would just claim it through my insurance without questioning their fraudulent charge. No official damage report was ever provided—only a generic invoice from a mechanic.
Fortunately, I had taken a detailed video and photos before even starting the engine at the original pick-up. Even after providing this evidence via email, the merchant stopped communicating and kept the money. I was forced to open a chargeback dispute through my bank. After reviewing my time-stamped evidence, the bank ruled in my favor and I recovered the full amount, including all fees.
Essential advice for anyone renting here:
Take photos and videos of EVERY inch of the car before you leave the parking lot at pick-up.
At drop-off, take photos of the car again and, most importantly, take a photo of the signed check-out document.
Don't let them intimidate you into using your private insurance for damages you didn't cause.
Save yourself the stress and the legal battle: rent somewhere else.
