Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 32 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently struggle with unhelpful customer support, experiencing long delays, unreturned calls, and complicated warranty registration processes that make getting repairs nearly impossible. Many people also report that brand new equipment breaks down quickly, fails under normal working conditions, or arrives with missing parts. The minority of people were satisfied with the powerful performance of specific heavy-duty tools and older batteries that lasted through years of heavy use. Reviewers also noted that certain circular saws delivered exceptional cutting results and provided very satisfying overall results during projects.

DeWalt please respond to criticism

It would be helpful if DeWalt would read the negativity and REPLY to customers complaints all of a sudden this company has nose dived, they used to be so good you could ring and talk to anyone re technical problems or difficulties in registering new tools for extended guarantee.
Come on DeWalt please get with it.

I started to invest in dewalt tools but...

I started to invest in Dewalt tools - purchasing a fair few tools for light DIY use.

So far a circular saw has stopped working, my multi tool has lost all of its power. and I have gone through 3 batteries (2x 3ah) and a 5 ah. All of which stopped working after around 2 years.

When you contact Dewalt - they offer no support, other to say let me put you in contact with another seller so you can purchase another one.

I invested in the tools for their inherent quality - even if they were getting light use. Extremely poor customer service

Extended warranty con

Bought 2 cordless products partly due to 3 year warranty which has to be registered within 4 weeks of purchase but they make it impossible to register so effectively you’re stuck with the usual 1 year with retailer which is a complete con

Bought a circular saw from DeWalt to go…

Bought a circular saw from DeWalt to go with my other tools. Really disappointed, the saw makes the battery die in no time at all. Took 3 four/five hour fully charged batteries to job yesterday, burnt through all of them in under an hour, just taking tops of feather edge boards and 3x3 posts. Also the guard keeps locking, I'll never buy one of these again, my other DeWalt tools all work great

Poor quality sanding discs

Bought DeWalt sanding discs from Toolstation. After 5 mins use I wanted to change to a different disc as it was scratching the wood (even though I was using 320 grit, on a quality Milwaukee sander). However, when removing the disc, the "hook & loop" backing came off, rendering it useless. All in all very poor quality. DeWalt suggested I return them to Toolstation for a refund, but that means more time and hassle. Not impressed.

Bought a circular saw to aid in fitting…

Bought a circular saw to aid in fitting a new kitchen. Due to several health problems have only just got it out of the box. Not used it yet. Went to register it and only have 146 days warranty left. Dewalt will not honour the 3yr guarantee as it has to be registered within 4wks of purchase. I have the receipt for September last year which is when I would expect the warranty to start but why does it matter when it’s registered. Stupid company. Have several items of dewalt kit but this will be the last.

Couldn’t register for the 3 year…

Couldn’t register for the 3 year guarantee.Spent 2 hours of wasted time trying to register it. On line support agent kept asking me same questions. What a waste of my time. Seems to be some confusing with Stanley tools guarantees. Or have one company bought out the other and to cope they have cut back on customer support?
After reading everything on here, the 3 year guarantee isn’t worth the paper it’s written on anyway. Disgraceful customer service. Also, I have always used DeWalt tools and they have been great. But, I haven’t bought one again until recently. I just hope it lasts longer than what people are writing on here!

Awful service and admin

I bought a new drill and kept it in it's box for over a year due to chemo. When I got it out it doesn't work. Dewalt don't care because it's out of warranty and the repair ppl they directed me to only fix warrantied goods... awful service and admin

Extended Warranty worth nothing

After more than 4 weeks since returning a failed drill, still unaware of when drill may be fixed or replaced.
Purchased a drill kit (2 drills and 3 batteries) which came with extended warranty which was registered immediately following purchase.
As our previous drill continued to work, these new drills were not used until 12 months after purchase and then 1 of them started too make a noise and work intermittently within weeks of being used.
Took back to where we purchased as instructed by DeWalt website details on extended warranty.
Even though comes as a kit, each drill had to be registered separately with the extended warranty which further confuses paperwork.
Even though registered separately, the whole kit (both drills and all batteries) had to be sent off to get the failed drill addresed.
Provided printed copies of the extended warranty certificate to retailer and they took photocopy and sent off to DeWalt. The kit was then almost immediately returned back to the Retailer by DeWalt as DeWalt needed a "printed copy" and not photo copy of the printed copy of the extended warranty (!?!?!)
This was provided and the kit sent off again. Since then, neither the retailer or myself have managed to get an update on what is happening.
Having tracked down the DeWalt repair ticket number from the retailer, and provided this ( as the repair department cannot locate items without this - seems their systems cannot search by any other criteria) I was then again asked the same question a few days later when again chasing for an update.
What is the point of buying a tool with extended warranty if a repair/replacement takes over a month to get remedied??

I purchased a DW 0521 drill chuck for…

I purchased a DW 0521 drill chuck for my Dewalt Impact Driver on line from Lowes and it won't release the drill bit. I have sent several emails to dewalt with no satisfaction. They keep requesting the manufacture date and my chuck doesn't have one on it.a9 I checked the chuck with a magnifying glass to make sure i didn't over look it. What are my options to get a refund or replacement chuck?

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service, would not recommend it at all.

Bought a toolbox that was faulty and locking fixing broke and after 20 emails and propf photos and 2 forms to print fill and sign I was told its not covered by warranty...

Avoid if you can. There is other brands that are so much more caring about their customers

Absolute joke of a company

Absolute joke of a company. Changed my drills, circular saw's, and SDS drills from Makita to Dewalt. Registered everything. Get a fault on the drill driver and they refuse to carry out the repair. I cannot wait to go back to a decent brand once these have packed up, which going by these results will not be too long.

Very unreliable 18v SDS drill set

Very unreliable drill. I purchased a 18V SDS drill and charger and battery set. It was a top of the range drill costing around £200 .Only had it 1.5 years and used it occasionally for minor DIY tasks. Now the bathery wont charge. Contacted support and they told me warranty is only 1 year so expired, and I will have to pay for a repair. They could not even tell me if it was battery or charger at fault. I purchased a new charger and I still have the same fault . Now I have to replace the battery. I have had a parkside impact driver and drill set with batteries and chargers for over 3 years and used them a lot and they never gone wrong. I will never buy dewalt again. This is my first and last experience with DEWALT.
