The original Dettol disinfectant smell...
The original Dettol disinfectant smelled lovely and clinically clean. The new Chloroxylenol is revolting. Guests have come into the house and asked if a cat has been in! we will not be buying it again. Surely there have been many complaints about the awful smell? Why was the original of my childhood ended?
However we have found Lavender and orange oil which is lovely.....but only available online? Why only online?

Dettol Sensitive Landry Sanitizer
Dettol Sensitive Landry Sanitizer
What I like: it has no perfume that's a huge plus, do note that this is an additive instead of laundry softener it has no smell, people referring to smell in reviews are talking about their detergent's perfume which this product may reduce depending on detergent used but is not guaranteed to.
It has a 12hour in machine stay time, so if you forget to empty the machine for a few hours you won't have to re-wash everything
What I dislike : the dosage cup lines are only useful for half and a full cup. The instructions are for "normal soiling" which Dettol after 8 emails over an entire month of non/vague and unhelpful answers refuses to define. If you have IBS or can get additional soiling they refuse to give you dosage information. So much for standing by their product.
Dosage is based for a wide variety of machines and water hardness and mixed loads etc... They basically have leeway to take into consideration those variables.(environmentally wasteful but makes it somewhat easier for the consumer to not have to calculate)
I was told this:
"Anything further than everyday cleaning and typical levels of soiling, you should refer for guidance from a professional cleaning company, especially if you have conditions that may affect / worsen levels of soiling."
They basically don't have realistic use included which smells of able-ism and who knows if re-usable nappies are within normal soiling limits or not.
The dosage cup has very faint lines (placed under a light you can see them, otherwise not) most lines are irrelevant to regular consumers supposedly but it's hard to trust what they say because one CS agent stated that a cup was 20ml when it is actually 120ml .
For now I'll keep using Napisan which has light perfume and wash at 40 the underwear that can tolerate it and for period pants that require under 30deg C I'll use this & only when it's on sale.
The moment another company makes a perfume free version I'll be switching. They also don't advertise or make sure you know it's perfume free and my friend had to go sniff it in store for me before buying.Reviews mention scent which is confusing but they're referring to the absence of unpleasant odours or washing powder perfume.
Do be careful to wear protective eyewear though as the label says it's not good to get it there, the 2.5L bottle is heavy so you're likely to splash by accident.
There,I saved you an entire month of trying to get dosage information ,you would think I was asking for trade secrets at their reluctance to give out dosage information when they are the ones who put the graduated lines in the cup with no instructions to use the majority of them.
Expensive for what you get
Expensive for what you get, you can never just take out one wipe about 12 come all at once as they are badly organised in the pack, stuck together and come out in clumps as opposed to a individual wipe very wasteful idea to make you go and buy more! and the size of them is rediculous and pathetic for the price we pay for them! I won't buy them again until the problems are resolved I'm sick of being scammed by multi million pound companies and the goverment.
Snotty Advertising
Would never buy Dettol products after seeing nose picking kid add on TV. Their products are probably as poor quality as their discusting advertising.
Dettol antibacterial surface wipes, very poor quality and not fit for purpose
I have been using Dettol antibacterial wipes for years now but the last few years this products quality has really gone downhill. The wipes have no substance to them and do not hold any shape at all, so all you end up with is a crumpled mess. I will not use this product again, there are much cheaper and way better products on the market.

Review for Dettol ALL IN ONE…
Review for Dettol ALL IN ONE Disinfectant spray. Used this years BEFORE the pandemic, then relentlessly DURING the pandemic, and still using it daily almost six years on from the pandemic!
I still don’t think a lot of customers realise how brilliant this is, and how it’s for VIRUSES not just bacteria. The fact it kills 99.9% of viruses, and sprays a lovely mist when sprayed (and quiet too), WITHOUT the horrid choking fragrance of so many other brands, is a win win win for me.
The new packaging on the can is nice. Clearly shows what it does and what it kills. Still think more people need to understand its brilliance. For me, it’s been the absolute best. Thank you Dettol.
Shrunk dettol soap bars!!
Oh dear! Not another rip off!! they're all joinining the band wagon! 3 bars of dettol soap nicely packed together on the shop floor! Only trouble was they've shrunk! They must think we're stupid😜 won't be buying any more in the near future! Ps I can't stand greedy people!! 😒
How can you call these large wipes ?!

Dettol multi purpose cleaner
I liked the smell of Dettol It was a bit pricey but good as a cleaning product, But I couldn't read the small print at the back even with a pair of reading glasses. This is not helpful for people that are short sighted. I had to take a photo using my phone then i enlarged it just to read the label at the back
i absolutely love dettol it’s the best
i absolutely love dettol. it just saved my ink stained white table, i can’t believe what im seeing. dettol is my love. dettol is my life. i love you so much. ❤️
Product leaves me feeling physically sick
The bathroom and kitchen "Pure" dettol spray leaves me feeling physically sick for hours after using it.
Took me a while to work out it was the spray, changed back to my usual bleach spray. No longer feel as sick as a dog after cleaning the kitchen and bathroom.
Leaves me thinking it's not a safe as advertised.
Loving your British advert for dettol…
Loving your British advert for dettol germ killing wipes. The idea of a black father cleaning up after his family is heart warming. On Father’s Day it brings a tear to my eye as my black father left us before I was born.
Dettol Anti Bac Power & Pure Kitchen
Dettol Anti Bac Power & Pure Kitchen. Used this product to clean my black granite sink and it has left irremovable white streaks, the sink is ruined. The company said I didn`t follow the small print that says" test the product in an inconspicuous area before using". How you do this on a sink, I don`t know. They offered me £15 of Amazon vouchers as compensation for ruining a £200 sink. Disgraceful.
Buy Flash wipes instead, they actually clean properly
I cannot believe how they can get away with selling such a poor quality product for the same price/ more as the old better quality product.
Dettol antibacterial wipes are extremely thin, so thin that they are covered in holes so anything your wiping up will get onto your hands/gloves. When you use a wipe they stick and ball up into itself so you end up having to stop and unroll the wipe or else you’ll be wiping with half your hand. This make cleaning so much longer. These wipes stretch so easily when you take one out of the packet so they often become stringy before you’ve even started wiping. I’ve seen some people excuse the bad quality because they’re biodegradable however Flash wipes are also biodegradable and are double the thickness and genuinely feel like they’re cleaning. Simple face wipes are another wile that is biodegradable yet thick. So there is zero reason these are so poor quality other than to cut costs yet charge us more. My nan is in a care home, they used to use dettol wipes, they no longer do, that is proof to me that i wouldn’t trust these wipes to properly clean, the holes in these wipes alone is ridiculous and to feel like anything is cleaned with these requires using tons of wipes. I no longer trust dettol.
Their store on Amazon
They have their own store on Amazon and they put their wipes as a pack of 10 (in my case) but only 1 arrived, and I couldn't complain on Amazon because the purchase was through their store and they marked the product as not eligible for return. It's a fraud and I will warn every person I know not to purchase anything from their store. I stopped buying their products as well.
Products overpriced, now worth it.
Dettol has again raised prices of their products (Ireland). The washing cleanser, the smallest bottle is now twice as expensive. Very greedy company. Never buying again.
