DAMAGED WEDDING DRESS.

Though the experience started positively, the ateliers snagged a thread in the back of my wedding dress, which left a pull.

They were unable to fix it, and the only option was to try and get the right fabric and replace the entire left side of the dress - which a week away from my wedding I did not feel confident doing.

They then offered me a paltry compensation, which would have still left me owing them money - despite the fact that they have ruined my wedding dress.

Not only this, the owner of the atelier shouted at my on the phone and was so aggressive he made me cry - a horrible man, and a deeply unpleasant experience so close to my wedding.

I’m sure they’re ok most of the time, but they took no accountability and for any bride out there considering using them for your dress - I would not take the risk.

Excellent quality of service. I actually brought my dress down from Edinburgh to London because our usual tailor in Edinburgh (reputable and used them before), wasn’t able to fix a problem I was having with a bridesmaids dress. I was recommended Design & Alter as the go to place for high quality tailoring and am so glad I went. They were patient and considered, Xinxin worked with me to find the issues with the dress and suggested several solutions. We picked one we were happy with and the dress now looks so much better. The prices are fair for the quality of the tailoring, they really know what they’re doing and a team of them are available to work on particularly tricky alterations. If high quality tailoring and lovely customer service is what you’re looking for this is where you’ll find it. I will also say that I was worried the job would be too small for them to be particularly bothered about (not a whole wedding dress but one amendment to a bórdeme dress) but they really went over and above to get it exactly right and this is another reason I would go back there for alterations every time.

Really bad experience. They lure you in with one price, then change it half way through (and substantially), despite no change orders. What's worse, is their work is amateur, and they have no sense of customer service, particularly the director. Ended up having to go elsewhere to rectify the work they charged thousands for.
