PRINCE2 is quite a dry topic, however trainer brought it to life with entertaining examples. Very knowledgeable as well. Took the chore out of the training.
David Cartwright very helpful as always.
However, vegan food requirement didn't make it to the hotel. Although this was a last minute change of venue which may account for message not getting through and the hotel was very helpful and pleasant.
Great venue, lunch included was a huge bonus abd meant shorter breaks and more time to learn. Trainer was lovely and very knowledgeable he did speak rather fast and there was too much info on the wednesday morning with the exam in the afternoon there was no time to process what we had been told. Well Worth doing course but not an easy ride!
We did the ITIL foundation course a few weeks ago. It was a great course, the trainer was very knowledgeable and clearly very experienced. My only minor point (which may not even be a reflection on Datrix) is that there was a lot of information to take in in only 2 days (given that the 3rd was all exam prep). An extra day or two to cover the content at a more relaxed pace would be the only improvement. Having said that, everyone in the group all passed the exam first time round!
I attended the Prince2 combined foundation and practitioner course in 2013. Although we received a link to pre-course materials, these were not well sign posted or indeed organised logically. They made me hugely apprehensive about the course itself. Minor things such as timing out while you were reading the online chapters didn't help! However, the actual trainer and on course support was excellent. You couldn't fault Paul who placed the theory into context of our own work environment, which made it much more understandable. Overall an excellent course, but could do with some tweaks to the pre-course (which I understand is already happening)
Its a hard slog though! Kiss goodbye to a week of your life!
The trainer was very thorough and explained things clearly,
The trainer was very knowledgable and patient. He explained everything clearly and helped reaffirm some things I already knew. Would highly recommend!
The course was intense. A lot of information was covered over the week. The pre-course work meant we hit the ground running. The complex detail was made interesting by the engaging trainer who had lots of industry experience and used examples to bring the often dry subject matter to life. Thoroughly enjoyable! *****
Great trainer, venue was convenient and very central. The way, the course was hold, helps to categorize and manage the daily project work better, even if not the whole company follows Prince2 rules. Only the preparation course could be a bit more focussed, it just covers or less already the whole content of the course.
I attended a refresher PRINCE2 course as I had to re-register and was not familiar with the 'new' exam format. So I wanted to get some tips on the new format and I got that. I can't comment on the entire course but the trainer did seem to know PRINCE2 inside out.
I attended a five day PRINCE2 and practitioner training course with Datrix in August 2013. From my initial enquiry to the delivery of my results, the service from Datrix was excellent. All my pre-course questions were answered promptly and the whole course ran smoothly. Our trainer, Tony, was wonderful! He made the course material interesting and stimulating, and helped understanding by continuously using real life examples based on the group's experience. All our questions were addressed and no one felt embarrassed about speaking up if they didn't understand something. The people on the course seemed to gel really well which made for a good learning experience. The homework took up quite a lot of time but it really paid off. I felt prepared for both the foundation and practitioner exams and passed both with flying colours! Thank you, Datrix
I attended a 5 day PRINCE2 Practitioner course in Manchester. It was a very mixed ability/experience group but the trainer took it in his stride. Teaching methods were great an the whole group passed the Foundation exam on the third day. I don't know about the group's Practitioner results but I personally passed with a great mark. I would recommend Datrix to anyone looking to do a PRINCE2 course.
The course was Prince 2 reaccreditation but I had not read the new book (which had changed significxplaination of the styles of antly from my initial accreditation). I found going through old papers and the explainations of the question styles really helpful. The option to defer the exam for up to 2 months was also good. I was surprised to be attending day 4 of a 5 day course but soon settled in.
I had a great experience during my week with Datrix. Paul Williams was a fantastic teacher helping us through Prince2. His knowledge of the subject and ability to translate it in a way that sunk in was superb. Paul was 100% supportive thought the course and made passing achievable.
Great course, however it only gives an overview of the various roles people perform within a project rather than focsuing on the actual project manager role. I think more operational, hands on information on the project management function would be useful. I also think the course should give an intro to Microsoft Projects or other similar packages such as Project in a Box. Overall the course needs to be more practical, offer scenario based learning and if it was spread out over more sessions, provide an opportunity to work in groups etc.
Good course with lots of detail tutor kept checking for understanding.
Pace and enviroment all leant itself to the learning experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed the training course. its not for the faint hearted though, lots of pre work and homework! The pace of the training is good. I found the trainer was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about Prince2 (which is what you would expect) but also a seasoned PM in his own right. So could add "real life" examples to illustrate his point. The training venue was excellent - Bewley's Hotel in Leeds city centre. Food was good, training room was good size and comfortable. Small class of 6 people which was ideal. I achieved my Prince2 Practitioner so I am happy with my investment. Everyone passed the foundation exam which was a good sign. Datrix also give you the option to re-sit the foundation and defer the practitioner exam if you need to. So I would recommend them. They are also APM approved training provider which is important if you are comparing training companies.
Joining arrangements were disorganised and the venue changed (from one location in Leeds to another) after I'd made arrangements, but the course was relocated to a hotel which made it simple to stay there. I was very unimpressed with the pre-course work; the Datrix web site is poor in design and function, and the material could do with a good proof reader to correct the dreadful grammar. I found it very distracting because I was constantly trying to decide in what sense something was meant, rather than just being able to get on with the study. This left me feeling very apprehensive about the course itself and its ability to meet my objective of passing the exam. However, I was pleasantly surprised and extremely impressed with the quality of the classroom element of the course. Stanley, the trainer, was excellent - he knows the subject matter inside out and delivers it with such enthusiasm, you can't help but be caught up in it. The fast paced delivery may not be to everyone's liking but it completely suited me - it was like being on a rollercoaster, where you can still feel the motion after you get off! I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend the course on the strength of the classroom delivery alone. The only let-down was the lunches - sandwiches and chips EVERY day, absolutely identical... who eats chips every day?? I suspect that this was down to Datrix's choice/budget because otherwise the food in the hotel was really good, but it certainly needs addressing.
While the tutor was knowledgable, the subject matter was taught almost exclusively to the exam, and little attempt was made to tie it back into the practical application or implmentation nor to foster a true and genuine understanding of the subject matter. This is not a fault of the tutor, he is clearly working within parameters set and it appears that many of the attendees from a public sector background were happy with this approach, presumably because a succesful exam pass is how they are being judged rather than by a useful knowledge of the subject. The course was not completely useless - I have the reference material and can see how it can be applied in my company. However I think it should have been made clear that this course is aimed at those whose primary goal is a succesful exam pass. I think Datrix should also consider setting up a different course aimed at those such as myself who have a desire to effectively implement Prince 2. In addition to covering the core material such a course should cover various case-studies, likely challenges and practical guidance. My overall experience is that I do not feel the nature of this course was adequately spelled out via the web-site or when booking and feel that had I known I would probably have chosen to look elsewhere for a more apporpriate training course.
