Fraud-like behavior and aggressive tactics – avoid this company

On Friday, April 4th, 2025, a man identifying himself as the owner of “Daktechniek Garant” rang my doorbell offering to clean my gutters and windows (front and back) for €25, payable by card. I agreed, and he scheduled the service for Monday morning.

On Monday, April 7th, at around 10:45 AM, two workers showed up. Without asking, one of them climbed up onto my roof and began pulling up roof tiles. He claimed the tiles were “loose due to wind” and said water might leak into the wooden structure and walls, causing mold. He offered to “fix” it for €325.

I questioned whether this was really necessary and why none of my neighbors — with identical roofs — seemed to have the same problem. He didn’t answer and just sat on my roof without putting the tiles back or starting the gutter cleaning we had actually agreed on.

In a hurry for an important business meeting, I reluctantly offered €275, just to make them leave — though I had no idea what a fair price would be. I was never shown a breakdown of labor, materials, or duration. Around 10:48 AM, the second man handed up a roll of black material (maybe adhesive). By 10:57 AM, the rooftop worker came down and claimed everything was done.

Then came the cash demand: €300, no receipt, no documentation. When I said I didn’t have cash, they told me card payment was only possible with 21% VAT added, contradicting what the owner had said earlier. They told me to go to an ATM and that they would come back in 30 minutes.

As I went to withdraw the money, I started feeling something was wrong. I searched their name online and found many similar complaints. When I asked them to give me a proper invoice listing what work was done, what materials were used, what labor costs were charged — they refused. Instead, they accused me of trying to scam them and said they would wait at my door until I paid.

Their only “proof” of work? A short video showing the worker walking around on my roof, not doing any repairs — no before/after photos, no clear explanation, no demonstration of what was allegedly fixed.

I felt pressured and unsafe, so I had no choice but to call the police, who arrived shortly after. Only then did the workers finally leave.

After further research, I discovered this company has a pattern of:

Entering properties without proper consent

Performing rushed or unsolicited inspections

Demanding cash payments with no official documentation

Using vague “roof issues” to justify unclear charges

Refusing to provide invoices or cost transparency

⚠️ I strongly advise everyone to stay away from Daktechniek Garant.
Any legitimate company should:

Offer a clear written quote before doing any work

Provide a cost breakdown of labor, materials, and VAT

Issue a formal invoice or receipt

Never pressure customers with cash-only demands or vague threats

This experience was stressful, possibly fraudulent, and completely unacceptable.

don't loose more money on this company

SCAMMER!
They charged more than almost 1500 eur for <30min of work, repaired a bit the roof & gutter leak.

I asked if the leak still there, I will call to repair since I can't test when they are done with the work (need to have rain to test if the leak is there).

Then when raining, the leak still there. I called many company numbers (different cities, they are all with voice mail). I then called the number of the guy. He asked to pay 250eur exc. VAT if they come to fix.

Do you trust them if you pay more money?!

Go to other companies if you don't want to loose money for nothing.

Worthless

Worthless. Do not higher them, no matter how quick they react and want to install something to help you. The will try to sell you things while they are inspecting your roof, always increasing the price and not doing any real work.

Do not trust this Company.

Do not trust this Company.
They send people to your door offering a cleaning of the gutters for a reasonable price. You called them to arrange an appointment and they come. The people that come to your house do not know what they came for. You have to explain why the appointment was made. They go inspect the roof and come back to you saying all they found and it's needed to be repaired. In the end your bill will be around 1000 euros or more and the Job is not even properly done. They didn't even clean the gutters that was the initial task for the appointment.
After arguing for the things that were charged but not done a small discount was made.
After leaving I went myself to the roof and inspected what they did. They were so incompetent that when applying led around the chemine, there was a piece of a broken roof tile and instead of removing it they applied the led around it. What a joke....
I called the company several times, whatsaped them and every time they make an appointment to come and fix this, nobody comes. You are waiting at home for nothing.
Furthermore, this people that come to do the job do not use any safety equipment whatsoever. Looks like workers in 3rd world country. You might end with a worker dead on your terrace after falling from the roof. What we do not wish for anyone.

Update: June, 3, 2022.
After months of calling me to make an appointment they never came and now they ask me to remove the bad review if I want them to come.
I am moving forward legally with this people. Join me if you had the same or similar experience.
