I flew Prague to Paris last month with…

I flew Prague to Paris last month with Czech Airlines, and the experience was very middle-of-the-road. The aircraft itself was actually nicer than I expected – clean cabin, comfortable seats, and the crew on board were friendly once we got in the air. I ordered a meal in advance and, to be fair, it was genuinely tasty.

That said, the trip didn’t get off to a great start. The flight was delayed by almost an hour with very little communication at the gate. The only update we got was a vague announcement that they were “resolving a technical issue.” When I checked my booking the night before, I noticed the flight was being operated by Smartwings, which wasn’t mentioned clearly when I booked. Not a dealbreaker, but it felt a bit misleading.

The biggest frustration was the baggage situation. The website wasn’t very clear, and I ended up paying an unexpected fee at the airport because the allowance listed during booking didn’t match what the agent said. Customer service wasn’t exactly helpful about it either.

Once we finally took off, everything was fine, but between the delay, the confusing baggage rules, and the Smartwings switch, it wasn’t the smoothest experience. If you’re prepared for potential hiccups and double-check your booking details, Czech Airlines is okay for a short hop. But if you have another airline option with better service, it might be worth considering.

No common sense and service level 0

This is about the distressing and discriminatory treatment I experienced while traveling on Flight 6H 163 from Tel Aviv to Tirana, operated by Czech Airlines on behalf of Israir Airlines on May 8, 2025.

Upon boarding the flight, I was suffering from severe sunburn on my back, and to alleviate the pain, I was using a wet T-shirt. Despite explaining my condition to a senior crew member and requesting some time to calm down, I was repeatedly told to wear the shirt. The cabin crew member was unhelpful in understanding my health situation, and a female representative (whose identity was not provided) insisted that I must wear the shirt because it was against airline rules. I attempted to engage with her to understand the reasoning behind this directive, but she refused to identify herself and failed to explain why my situation was not being considered.

At this point, I complied and put the T-shirt on, despite the discomfort it caused. I later learned that this representative had threatened to call the police if I did not comply. While I followed the airline's instructions, I was still offloaded from the plane. This was the first time I have ever been removed from a flight without any warning or valid explanation. To make matters worse, no formal report or documentation was provided to me about this incident, leaving me feeling both humiliated and unjustly treated.

I find the behavior of the airline staff to be not only inappropriate but also discriminatory, as I was forced to compromise my health in a situation where basic common sense and compassion could have been applied. The involvement of the police, without any legitimate cause or warning, was both offensive and disruptive to my travel plans.

doesn't deserve to be rated this badly…

doesn't deserve to be rated this badly xD we just have high standards. Every time I fly with them I at least think 'hey, they are cheap". And compared to some, they are not, but in general, they are pretty cost-effective. I don't think its a 5 at all, but I will bump the score up a bit I guess vs the downvote campaign, jus t to make it more fair.

16hrs delay- no information given, 60+ days for claim review
If no starts is possible , would give it .
Flight got delayed by 15hrs in total, by being pushed every 2hrs for next 2 hrs , hence we could not leave airport. Airline operators in the airports highly unprofessional and could only say follow the schedule table and call support service line, when support on the phone asked to raise any questions to stuff in the airport. We were provided 8 eur voucher during 16 hrs delay, no information given about other benefits during such long delay. Time to review claim and provide compensation is 60+days. This company is not about customer neither servise. Well done ČSA!

Terrible staff very unprofessional…

Terrible staff very unprofessional impolite and rude toward the passengers avoid of any cost flying with Czech Airline the level of stress they put on passengers is unbelievable for no reason. Terrible supervisor on duty she was laughing at situation and passing by.

Not reliable. Avoid at all cost

Absolutely not reliable. I booked 4 flights with them in May and June 2024 between Paris and Prague for business. Only one landed on time. One was cancelled due to technical problem on the plane after waiting 2h onboard with little information. 2 where simply cancelled without bothering providing explanation. For one of them I was informed only 6h before departure. So Czech Airlines, if you read this, be assured that from now on, I will carefully avoid you when booking my travel. You simply don't care about your customers.

“Discount” airline ends up expensive

Discount” airline that ends up full price after all the extra charges. Rude, unprofessional staff. Unreliable flights. Uncomfortable seats.

Food is expensive and lousy. You need to pay to sit next to your spouse. We were charged 43 euros *each* to check our carry-on which they claimed was above their limit. We’d checked it for free many times on many airlines because it’s only a small carry on.

Uncaring and rude staff. We arrived at counter 3 hours before flight and were told checkin starts at 2 hours. Wasted an hour and returned to a huge lineup. Checkin clerk got in a big fight with customer in front of us. Perhaps took it out on us.

Arrived at gate and saw flight delayed by 90 minutes when we had a 100 minute connection. In the end flight was 2.5 hours kate.

Next flight was waiting for us and many other connecting passengers. Passengers had boarded on time and waited on plane for 90 minutes for us. Crew refused them water with excuse of limited supply. Crew made an announcement blaming connecting passengers for delay.

My flights got cancelled 3 times.. They refuse to reimburse the flights from because it's still departing. After reaching them for the 5th time they refunded me, i am gonna give two stars for this. I am not happy.

Money never paid back for a cancelled flight

A flight cancelled in April 2020, during a covid period. They never reimbursed me but proposed a voucher. I used the voucher in Aug 2021 but once again the flight was cancelled and still the money never paid back!!
So now in total 250 € stolen and the company told me that the voucher had expired!

Escroquerie / Arnaque

Pire compagnie,
ils m'ont obligés à payer des frais pour mettre mon bagage à main en soute,
en plus à l'arrivée j'ai trouvé ma valise endommagé.
worst airline ever,
they made me pay a fee to put my hand luggage in the hold,
on arrival I found my suitcase damaged

Extremely rude Czech Airlines support…

Extremely rude Czech Airlines support staff at the airport ticket counter Online check-in unavailable on Czech Airlines website, not possible on Smart Wings website either. Arrived at the airport 50 minutes before the flight, the check-in counter already closed. Asked for assistance from the Czech Airlines airport staff at the counter and instructed by the Information desk and Menzies staff (which were very supportive). Arrived at the Czech Airlines and Smart Wings counter, the only ones that can support issuing the boarding pass and was greeted by two very rude employees. Older lady proceeded to raise the voice and talk very offensively when I asked for support and explained the situation I am in. This was very surprising as I approached the staff for support in a decent and polite manner. The way I was talked back was shocking. Staff explanation was that I need to be at the check-in counter 40 minutes before the flight. I explained I arrived 50 minutes with the closed counter. I am frequent flyer based in Prague with 2 flights per month in average for the past 6 months. I have never experienced such unprofessional staff and services from any other airline on any continent or airport worldwide. Absolutely shocking. Please consider training your staff, pass on feedback on extremely low quality customer service or sanction your employees performance accordingly.
