Won't recycle my old oven

I ordered an oven from Currys.ie, including installation fee of 55eur and free recycling of the old oven and packaging (this is a fee they explicitly say at check out is included in the price of the good). The delivery men delivered it and I realised it was slightly too large size to replace my old oven. We discussed what to do, and we ended up deciding to leave both ovens and I will find someone to install it myself as counters needed to be resized (while still being able to cook on the old one). They were very helpful and arranged a refund of my installation fee, and said to call Currys once I had installed my new oven so they can come and pick the old over and the packaging. My new oven is now installed so I called to arrange a pick up of the old one through Currys customer service, which is when I was told they can't do this now as it longer than 2 weeks since the delivered the oven (it has been nearly 4 weeks since delivery as it took some time to find someone to install the new one). I asked several times are you sure nothing can be done, especially as the charge for recycling is included in the price of the product. "Nothing can be done". We all know how awkward it is to move white goods, somehow I have to recycle this oven myself now. Very disappointing as it would be so easy to please a customer in this instance. I won't be ordering from Currys again, a shame as was looking to upgrade my fridge and dishwasher soon, but I will go elsewhere from now on

Expensive 3-year mistake – Avoid if you value reliability

"The Mathematics of Failure." (Price 1,225 + Repair Cost 450 / Years = Disaster, approximate yearly cost 800 euros per year)I purchased this LG American Fridge Freezer in Curry's Naas three and a half years ago, expecting a premium appliance that would last a decade. Instead, I’ve ended up with a €450 repair bill and a scrap metal unit. Whilst the service from the staff was credible, what's not credible is that I cannot write a review of the product on the website, and that the product should be durable and fit for purpose. I do not recommend this product.

I bought a Desktop from PC World

I bought a Desktop from PC World, and opened up a paid agreement for 3 or 5 years for Breakdown recovery.
I am very happy with all the repairs they have done. I recently bought an upgraded 3-in-1 desktop, and I am going to have the same service again. They were very prompt and courteous with my repair, and I was very happy with their service. Well done, PC Know How, you did me a great service.

I am extremely disappointed with my…

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Currys. I ordered a Tefal steamer online for in-store collection, only to get home and discover that the appliance had clearly been previously used and that items were missing from the box.

I then had to spend over an hour on the phone, speaking to four different people, just to arrange an exchange. When I finally received a replacement, unbelievably, that box also had different items missing. This is completely disgraceful and utterly unacceptable.

Five months later, the steamer broke down and started leaking water. Trying to arrange a repair has been another nightmare. I’ve spent over two hours on the phone, speaking to six different people. Each one claimed it wasn’t their department and passed me on to someone else. Every time, I had to repeat all my details, only to be transferred again after 15 minutes.

The customer service is an absolute joke. The lack of quality control and accountability is shocking. If you value your time, money, and sanity, I strongly recommend shopping elsewhere where you’ll receive proper service and respect as a customer.

A complete waste of money and time.

No compassion for a vunreble adult

My disabled brother purchased an expensive tv from Currys however despite asking for tv set up to be included in the price when the tv arrived no installation had been included ! I called Currys hoping to have this resolved immediately
What followed was nearly 3 hours of me bieng transferred from one department to another no help whatsoever! I was told installation had not been added when tv was purchased.i asded if they could trace the call to check as I know this was asked for at the time of purchase ! No help offered at all.
I called again the following day once again passed from one department to another some members of staff were quite rude and one again no help whatsoever
The tv has to be returned because currys refused to send an engineer to set up the tv despite the fact they were called within an hour of delivery of the tv and of course offering to pay for this service AVOID THIS COMPANY

Currys, please train your customer service team on Sale of Goods Act

Currently being fobbed off by Currys customer service regarding an online purchase of a Vax carpet washer that poured out thick smoke as soon as it was turned on for the first time. Responses are slow, repetitive and keep telling me to call a repair number despite saying I would like to exercise my right to a replacement machine. Herein lies the problem, Currys customer service reps do not appear to be familiar with the Sale of Goods Act etc that states goods must be of merchantable quality and fit for purpose. Hoping someone at Currys reads this and looks into this matter!
Edit 13 March: Currys closed my customer service case with no further action. Appalling lack of engagement. Will be reporting them to the CPCC.

Faulty Product and Refund Refused

I bought a NINJA – Luxe Cafe Premier Series ES601UKBK Bean to Cup Coffee Machine on November 28th after reading positive reviews and believing it would be the perfect choice for our home. Unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing.
The machine constantly shows errors. The water float often gets stuck, causing waste water to overflow. When making coffee, you must stand next to the machine because the vibration is so strong that the cup can move or even tip over, spilling coffee.
I contacted Currys at the beginning of February and requested a refund due to the faults, but this was refused, despite the refund option being available online. The machine has only been used for a short period of time.
Considering the high price, the quality feels very poor — more like a product bought from Temu rather than a well-known brand. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend this product.

Absolutely shocking experience

Ordered an item that showed as in stock on the website. After placing the order, I kept getting messages saying it would be delivered soon. But when I rang them, I was told they didn’t actually have it in stock. The delivery kept getting pushed back again and again, and in the end it was never delivered at all.

Trying to get a refund was just as frustrating. The online chat staff couldn’t help (ironically the holding message on the phone tells you it's faster through chat option online - clearly didn't help at all), and when I called it took several attempts to even get through to the right department. I was passed around with no clear answers and no one seemed to know what was going on.

Honestly, the only reason to buy from Currys is if you can walk into the shop, pay, and walk out with the item in your hand. I wouldn’t risk doing business any other way with them anymore.

Good service sorting common phone and computer problems

I called to Mahon point recently to purchase extra storage for my mobile phone . While dealing with Justin he unloaded and removed unnecessary app files off my phone which helped to free up storage . He also advised on storage requirements . Then he replaced my laptop charger with a reliable replacement brand . Justin is a very knowledgeable IT systems expert and has a good customer service attitude .

Do not buy large appliances from Currye

We bought a dishwasher and did not select installation as my husband often installs large appliances. The dishwasher did one wash and then threw up errors. We conacted Currys customer care and were told that because they did not install the dishwasher, they would not deal with us. We spent over 600e on a dishwasher that ran once and is now useless. Please be warned and do not buy large appliances from Currys.

Avoid if you’re elderly and/or disabled …

My mother who is 87 and disabled purchased a washing machine in store - she paid for installation and the recycling of her old washing machine . Delivery men could do neither so they assured her that she would get a refund for installation & recycling but didn’t tell her how she would receive said refund. Washing machine is sitting in her living room . I have tried to phone and speak to a person to explain the situation to no avail - you just get useless menus & virtual assistants . I also got cut off from my call. I then tried web chat and after waiting and typing in all the details I get told that the only way my elderly Mum could get her refund was to go back to the store 13 miles away . Bearing in mind when I took her to the store she was having a ‘good’ day as she is suffering from COPD, angina, arthritis , breast cancer and is classed as disabled with a blue badge. I explained all this to the agent who then told me that she could only deal with online orders ! I asked to contact a manager - she said that there was no way to do that so I informed the agent in the chat how terribly Currys are treating the elderly & disabled and that I was going to Age Concern to highlight their awful after service. Subsequently as it stands I have to wait for my mother to have another ‘good’ day and traipse her 13 miles away to a store for a refund whilst sorting out a private plumber to install the machine. Hopefully my mother will not fall over the appliance that is standing in her living room but who knows ? What an awful way to treat disabled, elderly clients- shame on you Currys
UPDATE 16/3/26
Curry’s can reimburse straight to your bank account - they’ve reimbursed my mother - so do not take customer service agent’s advice, it’s incorrect .

lack of transparency

I purchased a De'Longhi coffee machine (€500) from Currys in September. This was not a small purchase for me – it represents roughly a week’s wages – but I justified the cost as a long-term saving compared to buying takeaway coffee. Even if the machine lasted only a year, it seemed worthwhile.

Unfortunately, by November the machine was already showing signs of malfunction. Due to the Christmas period and other commitments, I was only able to return it for assessment in February. At that point, I was informed by the sales assistant that Currys acts only as a broker for De'Longhi products and does not handle warranty returns directly. This was disappointing, as this was never explained at the time of purchase and would have influenced my decision.

The machine was sent for repair (issue: milk frother not working). I was advised this could take up to 14 working days; in fairness, it was returned after 8 working days. However, the machine came back with the exact same fault – the frother still does not work. There was no visible indication that the issue had been properly diagnosed or tested.

Overall, this has been a very frustrating experience for a premium-priced product. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise potential buyers to carefully consider warranty and service arrangements before purchasing a De'Longhi machine from Currys. The repair was handled by Kinilworth Electrical, but the problem remains unresolved.

Poor Customer Service and Mismanagement

I purchased a laptop with a care plan and, within two years, key components failed. Despite repeatedly requesting a unified response, Currys has continued to send fragmented messages, mainly from the care team, who attempted to coerce me into accepting an inappropriate repair. On one occasion, a team member even threatened to cancel my policy if I did not accept the repair. I have yet to receive any substantive resolution regarding a replacement. Their handling of my complaint has been obstructive, inconsistent, and stressful—I cannot recommend Currys based on this experience as despite copying in the Chief Executive I am still awaiting a response

Never stepping in the door of Currys again.

From the very moment I stepped in the door of Currys Tralee 4 weeks ago it has been a disaster. First day I went in as I needed a new laptop to do a HPAT exam in 4 weeks time. Nobody looked at us nevermind come up and see if we needed help. I looked around and left. The next day I came in and had to go up to the counter to get assistance. I was advised on what laptop would be most suitable-ASUS Zenbook. I was passed on to another employee who only cared about selling insurance. When I said I didn't want the insurance he replied with a snarky comment. The next day I went in to pick up the new laptop after getting my data transferred across. This data transferring bundle cost 80 euros. Brought the laptop home and when I opened the box half of the charger was missing! After already being into Curry's the past 3 days and not wanting to make another hour journey in and out I rang the customer helpline and was told that I'd have to go in. My brother was passing Curry's so I sent him the receipt and a picture of the half of the charger I had and he was going to go to get the missing lead. When he went in he was stopped at the door and when he explained what had happened he was cut off and told that I would have to come in with the laptop and charger. When I went in they couldn't figure how half the charger was missing and didn't even ask for the laptop. Moving on two weeks, and I was delighted with the laptop it was working away fine until 1 week out from my exam and the screen of the laptop began to pixilate and the laptop kept shutting down and restarting. I went into Curry's the next day and the manager worked on it for about 20 minutes. He updated the laptop and blamed it on overheating- the laptop was only two weeks old and I had not done an extraordinary amount of work on the laptop!! He said to try it out again when I went home and if I have another issue to come back in and they would replace it. I came home and the minute I turned on the laptop the exact same thing happened again. The next day I hit the road into Curry's again. After answering all the same questions I had answered the day before to a new employee, they finally replaced the laptop. When I explained that I paid for the data transferring, I was told to bring in my original laptop another time and they would be able to do it again. I was very happy with this conversation until I was asked what I was studying in college. When I told him I was studying sport and exercise science, he asked 'Why would you need a laptop for that sure all you'd be doing is running around playing football?" When he realised I wasn't too amused by this joke he tried to laugh it off- not exactly the best way to deal with a customer who has already had an issue. Fast forward 7 days later and I am in the middle of a college tutorial in Limerick and suddenly the new laptop would not turn on and would not charge. 24 hours before the exam! My friend and I went into the Curry's in Parkway hoping that this was just a quick problem to solve. Well if I thought the staff in Tralee were rude and unhelpful, the woman I dealt with in Limerick was a new level. I went in and explained the story of the two laptops and how this laptop would not turn on. Now to clarify when I would press the on button it would come up 0% battery and that it was charging, but I left it for 50 minutes and it still had no charge and said it needed to be up to 20% to finish an update. The woman plugged in their own charger and again it came up 0 % and before even letting it show that it wasn't charging she said 'It's the charger'. The charger was a USB C so we were able to try it out on a phone before coming into the store and it worked perfectly. When I told her this she said 'oh so it isn't the charger'. She than began questioning me to see if it was something I did: 'Did you drop it?, Did you put the charger in wrong?, Did your WIFI cut out in the middle of the night?' I told her none of these things happened and that every other single device in the house was perfectly fine. I then went on to tell her that I needed a laptop for an important exam tomorrow. SHE LAUGHED IN MY FACE. She told me that she would 'pretend to work on it' because she 'didn't want to serve the fussy lady that was waiting next in line'. Crazy thing to say to a customer in my opinion. Thankfully she finally passed me onto another staff member. There was nothing they could do and I got refunded for the laptop but not my 80 euro for the data transfer. When I returned home I went into Currys in Tralee again and requested the 80 euros to which I was told 'The job was done'. But I'm after losing all my files because the laptops they sold me broke, how is this a job done? The two laptops breaking were not Curry's fault, they obviously got a bad batch but the attitude by the staff in Tralee and Limerick was totally unacceptable and I wouldn't go in their for a packet of batteries. I will be advising everyone I know to avoid.

Never again

Never again - I bought a laptop online from Currys a few weeks ago. Soon after purchasing it, it became obvious that it was faulty and then stopped working outright. Over the past 4 days, I've spent 4 hours speaking to at least 20-25 different customer service agents. Each agent was as useless as the last - several agents were in noisy areas and impossible to hear, some kept me on hold indefinitely and others passed me on to other agents that also couldn't help. I spent a lot of money on the laptop and I will be speaking to the Consumer Protection and Competition Commission re. legal avenues if not addressed immediately. Different agents have given me different BS answers. Frankly. I'm appalled by this experience. I've never felt so devoid of my consumer rights in my life. All I want, as is my right, is for a courier to collect the laptop and to get my money back. I will never be using Currys again!!

Beware buying Samsung TVs from Currys Ireland

I purchased a premium Samsung 65 inch TV from Currys Ireland advertised with a 5 year warranty on the Currys website, this warranty must be registered within 90 days to be valid.

I contacted Samsung to register and they tell me that Currys is not an authorised retail to sell Samsung TVs with 5 years warranty.

I was given this link for samsung promption offer ireland 93U5HUWQNZUUW and it lists DID, Euronics, Expert, Harvey Norman, Power City, SoundStore as authorised sellers, Currys is not on the list. A google search for that offer number brings up the page in question.

There is lots of forum discussions about people failing to make warranty claims after the 2 year Samsung warranty expires because they didn't register, and yet there is no way for me to get it registered.

I have internal email thread showing Currys staff discussing the warranty situation, and they state that the extended warranty is provided by Currys. I have no terms and conditions or any info for that warranty, the Currys website does not give any indication that you are buying a tv with a 3rd party warranty.

I had several emails back and forth with currys customer services ireland email address and ended up being told to contact tech support and given a phone number and insurance email address, tech support to register for the Currys warranty. They said they can't register for customers in Ireland, and insurance team said its nothing to do with insurance.

Getting sent around incircles and almost at point where I bring the used opened tv back to store for a full refund.
