It's a nightmare you never want to experience with a phone, but it happened to me.

WARNING: Cubot KingKong Power 3 is a literal piece of e-waste. I’m now a slave to the Power Button just to charge this brick.
I've never reviewed a phone this awful in my life. It's like falling into the deepest abyss of smartphone hell. You can't imagine any phone making your user experience worse than this one, I guarantee it. I’m exhausted. I’m drained. And I’m writing this to save anyone else from the absolute nightmare that is the Cubot KingKong Power 3. This isn’t just a "bad phone"—it’s a soul-crushing burden that shouldn't even exist in 2026.

The Most "Idiotic" Problem in Smartphone History
I wouldn't mind a bad camera or a muffled mic, but this phone fails at the most basic human necessity: CHARGING. Every single time I need to plug it in, I have to REBOOT the damn phone. Every. Single. Time. It won't recognize the charger unless I restart it. My Power button is about to snap off because I have to press it dozens of times a day just to "beg" this device to take some power. It’s pathetic.

Futility & Failure
I’ve wasted so much of my life trying to fix this. I’ve done 4 FULL FACTORY RESETS, hoping it was just a software glitch. Result: ZERO. The bug is so deeply rooted in their incompetent system that even a full wipe doesn’t fix it. Cubot even pushed an "older" firmware update recently, and guess what? It did absolutely nothing. It’s like buying a piece of trash and being forced to babysit it.

The 4Mbps Slow Torture
To make matters worse, my internet speed is capped at 4 Mbps. Every time I’m forced to factory reset this "idiot" of a phone, I have to spend DAYS staring at progress bars, redownloading my apps and setting everything up, only for the charging bug to come back immediately. It’s a loop of pure misery.

The Verdict: Cubot is a Joke
How does a company even release something this broken? Their support is non-existent, and their software is "trash" in its purest form. This isn't a "rugged" phone; it’s a parasite that sucks the energy and time out of your life.

DO NOT BUY THE KINGKONG POWER 3. If you value your sanity and don't want to become a slave to a power button just to get a charge, stay away from this brand. They are selling garbage disguised as hardware.

Usually decent phones, but terrible customer service

well I have been a customer of Cubot for about 10 years and although the phones don't last a long time I always expect to replace or upgrade every 1-2 years, which you can afford to at the price. I bought the latest one in October but didn't use it for the first few weeks. Once I started using it, it was immediately clear there were issues with it- the browser was slow, apps just freeze and the contactless payment function doesn't work properly. I contacted customer service who asked for details and I sent full details through, they have since never replied to me and it is out of time to return under Amazon. I think it's just a faulty device but the lack of communication and then just ghosting a long time customer is terrible customer service. Not sure I would buy another cubot now purely due to the fact that if there is a problem you can't get any support from the company!

Nice phones but customer support is shocking...

I've had numerous Cubot phones over the years. I've had the X19, the X30 and the P80. They've been great, budget smartphones and I wouldn't have returned to buy them each time had they been useless.

However, once something does go wrong with them, don't rely on their customer support team.

The latest experience prompted me to write the review.
My P80 was suffering with charging issues, in that it was difficult to get it to charge until finally it would not hold charge at all.

I contacted Cubot customer services, after being prompted to do so by Amazon (where Cubot at the time, were an approved seller).
I didn't hold out much hope, as I had contacted them previously with a camera fault (a known fault by all accounts) and aside from telling me to return the phone to factory settings, had little to offer in terms of advice.
When I'd questioned them if there was any other way of solving the issue, they didn't even reply, so I wasn't holding out much hope with the charging issue.

Alas, I was proved correct, as not only did Cubot not reply to one email, they failed to reply to a further three follow up emails.
I knew that the customer support email was working, as I received an auto reply during one of the Chinese holidays, assuring me that I would receive a reply on their return. Needless to say, this did not happen.

The saga went on for so long, that it actually took me beyond the 12 month warranty, so I didn't hold out much hope of any resolution.

Fortunately, after much digging around, I eventually found a way of contacting an Amazon service agent directly and today, have received a full refund.

It's a shame, as when they work, are very good budget phones but you can't rely on them being that good for too long.

So, based on this experience, I would never buy from Cubot again.

I left a 1 Star Review THREE YEARS ago

I left a 1 Star Review THREE YEARS ago, describing my negative experiences with two different Cubot models.

For unknown reasons, even though I explained in detail why I left that rating, my review was removed some days ago. I have no idea what kind of AI Trustpilot suddenly uses that removes perfectly valid reviews, but I will state it here again:

I bought a P40 years ago which kept giving me "Settings suggestions" every single time I opened the settings, even when I had already done what the suggestions said. There was no way to disable these and it made every time opening the settings an annoyance, because the suggestions would pop up about half a second after opening the settings, so everything was pushed down. This made you either mis-tap because of the scrolling, or made you wait until the useless suggestion appeared.

Then about 2 years later I bought a Cubot Max 3.
This model will NOT in any way support putting a live wallpaper. My Android 4 phone with 512MB could do it 8 years ago, practically any Android phone can - the Max 3 can not do it. No way around it, and their email support specifically confirmed that the phone can not do it.
My review was based on two valid personal experiences, and to any human that should be obvious, for an automated system not so much it seems.

Purchased a cubot tab60 from cubots own…

Purchased a cubot tab60 from cubots own seller which links straight to aliexpress, after receiving it I opened the packet to check it out and it seemed pretty nice but that was as far as I went at the time, I had purchased it specifically to use on a boat for navigation with an app called navionics, so a couple of weeks later I started trying to set it up and started to have issues with it freezing, I contacted the seller who tasked me to get in touch with cubot customer service, which I did, they sent me loads of suggestions on things to try and in the end sent me an app to flash the tablet with new software which didn't work, so they asked me to send it back at my expense, $60. Which I did, after a week of them having it at there repair centre they sent me a video of it starting up and said it was fixed and they were posting it back, I asked them to double check that it was receiving a gps signal and they replied with ( you never stated there was an issue with the gps but we will look into it) ten days later they messaged me saying the tab60 does not support gps and they were sending it back, it clearly stated on there website at the time that it had gps capability, but this has since been changed and they told me they have advised there seller to do the same, I have screenshot this since but there response was its not there problem and it's not covered by warranty as it didn't support it in the first place, the seller is refusing to refund as its past six weeks and now PayPal won't get involved because it's past there time, so much for buyer protection and a 12 month warranty

Cubot Note 7 screen & phone dead problem

I bought a Cubot Note 7 phone via Amazon. Installed just two apps and tried it for one or two months. Then the screen showed black. IF(!!!) the phone is able to turn on, the buttons don't work, the screen app-buttons don't work. It is even impossible to do a reset. But usually a hundred attempts to switch on this phone will all fail. Phone is (nearly?) dead...

Good Specs But Poor Design & Quality

I bought myself the cubot kingkong star because I am attracted to the battery life and specifications. But after I got the phone, fingerprint function stopped working and disappeared from android within 3 months of usage. Camera only have max 4X zoom which is as good as nothing. Water drop on the touchscreen will trigger pressing on the screen repeatedly. When speaker on the back of the phone touch some water near the surface, the sound will be muffled until it is dry. The back screen always turn on when I put in my pocket even when I didn't intentionally touch it.

Bad design and faulty phone, wish I have never purchase it.

Bought for pocket size, seems good quality but not user friendly!

Bought for pocket size which is good. No manual or user instructions and am finding it difficult to learn to use. (Professional Nerd helper agrees)
Call-in identified by vib. + only short ring time & does not give me time to answer-cannot find how to extend numbers of rings.
Seems no voice prompts when using GPS, only maps?
Otherwise it seems a good quality phone & I could be happy with it but am considering a more user friendly brand/phone
