The reservation process was handled over the phone by polite and professional individuals. I was able to both schedule and then cancel it with ease. I plan to try again!

Well we rented an RV from Cruise America in Clovis. The RV apparently was full of fleas! We got bit severely! The waste tank showed full when its only like a third so we had to dump every day because it was leaking when closed. Open cap and waste pours out! WE called while on trip and explanation wasn't satisfactory and blamed it on us. This was stressful for our vacation and we had to dump every day! The local cruise America in Clovis said we would have to deal with corporate with no follow up with us whatsoever! No apology or anything. Also the air conditioning did not work and their response at Clovis Ca location "Jackie," well sometime it doesn't? Jackie told us to contact corporate with no assistance to do that!

The customer service representative asked me the proper questions to cancel my reservation. Without bugging me to keep the reservation. They were professional and courteous.

I have rented from Cruise America and have had some great experences in the past. But the last threee times we rented we had issuses with the motorhome and we just dealt with them. The condintion of the units has been getting worse. Last year the vehicle had brake codes and no generator operation and they gave it to us that way, I did not have a chance to cancel since i did not know about this until we went to pick up the unit. This year they send a note to tell us that we would have to drive another hour the opposite direction we were going to pickup the motor home. So I just cancelled and found another source , It seemed that none really even cared that we cancelled. We will not be using your company again.

The phone reservationist, Teresa was excellent. Although she warned me, I didn’t book it fast enough. So I lost out on a great deal for the drop charge, which Went up immensely. But we still booked it.

My sales representative is very knowledgeable and was so very helpful in making my decision on dates/type of rental RV; etc. David is so professional.

I’m writing to express my frustration. During my initial booking, I specifically requested an early check-in. I then called CruiseAmerica team directly, and I was told to call on the rental day to see if it could be arranged. I’ve made multiple attempts to ensure this would happen.
Now, I’m being told only a 3:30 check-in is available because I didn’t call earlier—despite me following every instruction. I’m extremely disappointed in how this has been handled. I expect better coordination and consistency moving forward.
Also Karen mentioned that the RV even needs a new windshield! Wasn't this known in advance or it got damaged this night? Surely someone could notify me about this.
Additionally, I’ve repeatedly heard that someone else in the building on another floor handles reservations, and you don’t communicate. Frankly, I don’t care about internal disorganization. This is one company, and I expect you to coordinate internally rather than leaving me with inconsistent answers and unmet commitments.

We rented a Cruise America RV for a 3-week family trip through Colorado, Utah and Wyoming with our 4-year-old son. While the trip itself was absolutely incredible, the condition of our RV was unacceptable and significantly impacted our experience.
Issues we encountered from day one:
∙ RV not clean upon pickup — hair in toilet and shower, sticky stove, sand on floors
∙ Leaking faucet
∙ Chair repaired with duct tape
∙ Kitchen countertop edge loose
∙ Cabinet hinges fell off completely on day two, exposing wiring and hoses
∙ Strong chemical odor from refrigerator and freezer — confirmed by technician to be caused by excessive use of chemicals. The smell was so persistent it affected our food and groceries, rendering them unusable
∙ City water inlet not functioning
∙ Black water sensor permanently reading full after emptying
∙ Tire pressure warning light continuously activating despite no actual issue
∙ Air conditioning on the sleeping side could not be turned off — too cold for our child at night
∙ Several drawers stuck
∙ Several windows stiff to open
∙ Missing items from the inventory list
The ammonia scare:
Due to the overall poor condition of the vehicle, when we were alerted to a potential ammonia leak, we immediately believed it — and understandably so. This resulted in an unplanned hotel night at our own expense, a lost travel day, and considerable stress traveling with a young child.
Customer service:
Response times were slow and communication was inconsistent. When we raised the ammonia concern, we were asked to drive the RV to Denver — a 3+ hour drive with a camper, a 4-year-old, snow forecasted and an allegedly unsafe vehicle. This was not a reasonable request.
Compensation has been referred to the return location. We are still waiting for a fair resolution.
The good news:
America is breathtaking. The route through Moab, Arches, Flaming Gorge and the Rocky Mountains was life-changing. Our son became a proud Junior Ranger. The country delivers — Cruise America did not.
Our advice:
Do your research before renting with Cruise America. Inspect your vehicle thoroughly upon pickup and document everything immediately. Do not assume the vehicle meets basic standards.
We hope our experience helps other families make an informed choice.

Update another 2 weeks later:
We have now returned the RV and are still waiting for a fair resolution. Upon return, we were offered $200 in compensation. Which does not reflect the actual impact this rental had on our trip and finances.
What makes this experience even more frustrating is the complete lack of accountability between departments. Customer Relations told us nothing could be done while the contract was open, and directed us to the return location. At the return location, no manager was present. We were then directed back to Customer Relations. Who are now (we guess) “reviewing our claim”? Without any concrete response or timeline.
Nearly four weeks of emails, apologies and delays. But no resolution. Different departments pointing at each other, ghosting us in the meantime.
The state of their RVs is one thing. But the way Cruise America handles complaints makes the whole experience so much worse.
Be warned please 🙏
We will update this review once this matter has been resolved.

I called and spoke with Greg because my wife did not feel comfortable with us driving such a "large" vehicle and wanted me to cancel the reservation we had. Greg was very understanding and helpful and it took very little time for the cancellation and he did not push to try to change my mind or make another reservation at the time.
