BEWARE CROOKS!!!

These guys are absolute crooks! Don’t trust anything Stan tells you! New tranny blows for no apparent reason & I am immediately called a liar even with proof. They honoured my warranty just one month after installing a supposedly rebuilt transmission. Here I am one year later buying a new transmission due to absolute incompetence! THE TRANSMISSION WASN’T THE MAIN PROBLEM! What good is it to rebuild a tranny & not fix what caused the failure to begin with? Twice these idiots pass over the real problem…I can only suspect that they are incompetent or simply want you back in the shop to keep the business alive. FYI Lawyers, not just mine are building a case against them now. I have several pictures showing more than one rigged connection that needed to be replaced, but was ignored. ((((This company should be prosecuted & be out of business.)))) date of experience/s 3/2024—4/2024 & now 2/2026

Only if they learn how to do transmission repairs

Can this company improve? Only if they learned how to repair transmissions. Don't walk... Run out of this transmission shop. Don't believe the catchy slogans. Like "we do it right the first time. LOL what a joke. Find yourself a professional shop where you wont be over charges and actually get your transmission fixed. $3000.00 later my truck runs like crap. It was fine until the transmission went out and who knows what they did to it from there. Ask for you paperwork or you will never get it. My truck went back about 8 times and my transmission malfunction light came on again this weekend. I got screwed good. Find a honest shop....

We all fear getting ripped off by a…

We all fear getting ripped off by a dishonest mechanic. That's exactly what happened to me after I brought my truck into cottman's Transmissions. This place is a nightmare. do yourself a favor and bring your vehicle somewhere else. My truck was making a specific noise so I brought it in the cottman's. They looked at it and determined it was the transfer case. I okayed them to do to work on the transfer case. An expensive repair. After picking up my vehicle and driving it home from the shop I noticed it had the same noise. They were closed so I called them the next day and they said my truck had two separate issues. A transfer case issue and a rear axle issue. Somewhere in our conversations I mention reverse slipped once or twice when I first bought the vehicle but it hasn't happened for 6 months prior to them working on it. They attempted to spin it by saying I said reverse wasn't working and they test drove it and it was slipping in reality. Reverse was working fine when I dropped it off to them and they say they test drove it and all of a sudden it's slipping? Anyone with common sense can figure out they were trying to cover themselves. Nice spin.THEY TOLD ME THAT BY REBUILDING THE TRANSFER CASE THAT WOULD ELIMINATE THE NOISE AND AT NO POINT DID THEY TELL ME THAT THE WORK THEY PERFORMED WOULD NOT ELIMINATE THE NOISE UNTIL AFTER THEY DID THE WORK AND CHARGED ME $2,200. Whether my truck was having two separate issues or not they misdiagnosed the problem and did nothing to rectify it. I even talked to the owner Jim and I was shocked when he offered no resolution. This shop is good at taking your money but bad at diagnosing and fixing the problem. Totally dishonest and unprofessional. Take your vehicle somewhere else!

True EXPERTS- Honest business!

Scott and the team at Cottman are Knowledgeable, Honest and Thorough when it comes to transmission diagnosis. I purchased a pre-owned vehicle and within a month, had transmission issues (the vehicle had 100,000 miles). Without the expertise of Scott and Cottman, I would not have been able to successfully have the dealership take responsibility for the repair. He coached me, educated me and was able to inform me about my vehicle without charging me a dime to look it over. Incredible customer service. I will definitely recommend them to anyone I know!! And I will keep them in mind for future car maintenance! Thank you Scott and Cottman :)

Honest, fair, and kind. Very impressive.

Impressive experience. We were stranded on vacation, and manager Scott Cooper was able to stretch in order to fix this problem within 24 hours. Incredibly honest and fair. He sat with me for a long time and explained the situation in detail before and after the repair. Gave me free ride to the rental car company. Was just so impressed with how caring and professional they were. Very nice people. Very trustworthy. Very impressive experience. I never leave reviews for anything, but the experience was just too good to not give them a pat on the back. Thanks Scott and team! - Ben

Great Service and HONEST!!!

I took my car to have the transmission looked at. Scott and his crew were wonderful. I dropped my car off in the morning and by mid day I got a call from the tech asking me questions about what my car was doing and then about an hour later I got a call from Scott to tell me I should not drive my car and what the repairs would be. He gave me an estimate over the phone. I do not get off work until 5pm and Scott stayed late to explain to me and walk me through the problem and even took me under my car to show me what was wrong with it. He told me it would probably not be until Friday at the soonest I would get my car back (I dropped it for the inspection on a Tuesday). I think he saw the concern on my face as I have no other transportation. I would have to rely on co-workers to get me to and from work. They jumped right on the repairs to my car and had it back to me by mid day on Thursday. I was not expecting my car until at least Monday. Scott and his crew treated me like family and made sure I was in a safe vehicle to drive. Thank you so much Scott and all your staff for taking car of my car and my safety. You guys are honest and wonderful.

My kids and I were vacationing from Iowa when my 2008 Fusion tranny gave us big trouble. Scott, Jim and the mechanics bent over backwards to help us in our great time of need. Lisa was great as well. The car was fixed quickly and runs like a champ. I couldn't be happier with my Cottman experience. I trust their service. I encourage you to use this business!

Outstanding Repair, Outstanding Customer service!!

As a parent of young adult children I worry a lot. My kids travel, and this past March my son travelled from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lakewood, CO on his own to visit family. While there his 2013 Nissan Altima broke down. We called Cottman and they have not just taken care of the car, they truly cared about us. Before they would even talk about my car they made sure my son was in a safe place and had a ride home, that he had a place to stay. Then they proceeded not just to do an outstanding and thorough job of fixing my car, they advocated for me with the dealer for additional work that needed to be done. Their communication was outstanding, prices were fair. They showed me a sense of urgency to the repair, worked directly with my warranty company. They kept this situation the most stress free repair I have ever experienced. I cannot say enough good about this experience. Thank you Scott for not just fixing the car, but for caring about the people who ride inside it.

Transmission sounded like marbles in a can...

Took my 09 Wrangler to another shop because it sounded like marbles rattling around in a can. The shop recommended a full transmission replacement for $6400 due to the fact that multiple parts would be backordered. I called a few other shops and finally got in touch with Scott at Cottman Transmission in Wheat Ridge. I told him the situation and he told me to bring it in to get looked at but from what I was describing it didn't warrant a full replacement....possibly just a rebuild of gears. Brought it in and they had it inspected within the day with an estimated cost of repairs (which was well below the $6400 price the other shop quoted). They got everything done quickly and while I thought it was going to be longer I went out of town. They had no problem storing my jeep until I got back and ensured that it stayed locked and safe....even took it to the carwash for me. They scheduled a time to come back and have everything inspected and checked over. During their inspection they found a loose brake line and a bolt rattling that wasn't related to the work they had done. They took care of it on the spot without any charge to me.

They took the time to answer all of my questions and even kept the broken gears to show me exactly what was wrong with my transmission. They treated with me respect and were patient with my curiosity and lack of knowledge about how my transmission worked. If I ever need anything else done to my jeep I'd pay to have it towed here before I take it any where else!!!

Excellent Service!

I took my car to Cottman Transmission in Wheatridge. I have to say that the customer service that Scott gave to me personally and face to face as well as the service of the others working behind the scene was outstanding!
Scott provides good old fashioned customer service! Greets you with a smile and handshake, listens and is able to describe the car's problem in a way that makes sense. He also met the estimate that he gave me before starting the job. Cottman Transmission has a new life long customer because of Scott!
Sincerely, Beth Beery
