Costco the store? Great. Costco's trade in partner for smartphones, laptops, etc.? Garbage. Untrustworthy. Deceitful. Costco should look for another partner. Folks, shop other venues for trading in yo... See more

The young man in customer service was…
The young man in customer service was very very mean and disrespectful to me a 74yr. old senior woman old enough to be his grandmother other older service worker were around and said nothing very sad to experience being treated like this and NO One said nothing Sad Sad Sad!!!!
Rude, no parking, people fight in store, store is overcrowded
I had a membership with them for many years and I stopped going because they were more overpriced than my regular grocery store. Recently thought about signing up again becausse my kids insisted. We went one day and we got in just to check the prices. No problem. I was hesitant to get a membership then because the lines are so long and people fight for products inside and the parking is so crowded, I figured it's not worth it. My kids, however, insisted I get the membership and we went back. I decided to double check if this will be a good idea and wanted to walk around again before paying for a membership. The man at the door stopped me and he was so rude, he wouldn't let me in. He sent me to memberships, and he was looking at another man guarding the exit and they were both laughing at me and they kept saying: "it doesn't work that way, you don't get to see the store before getting a membership."
I decided to walk away. Couldn't handle the rudeness, superiority and these people fighting for things inside the store. The parking is awful too, people waiting in line to park 20 minutes before finding a spot that opens. My kids wanted the famous hot dogs. I got in a random super long line (all lines said pick up). After half an hour of me staying in line they say: "It's the wrong line." you must order one line to the left. All lines had the same sign that said pick up.
I kind of feel sorry for the people going there, staying in these long lines, just to consume, fighting in store and in parking lot over who gets what.
We just left.
Not going back.
Greed is sad to watch. Employees were acting soooo superior and entitled.
My grocery store is still better, and many other stores are better without the stress.
I just bought a membership and they…
I just bought a membership and they don’t take Mastercard. I don’t want to apply for another card. I would rather loose my money in the membership rather than open another credit card. I bought it through Groupon - be ware!! It’s too bad that they came to my area. We don’t need companies like this. Their registers or doors have nothing about credit cards. Nor did the membership desk say anything about this. Shame on them!! I hope they fail in my area. Sam’s Club is much better. I have Sam’s as well. And by the way, they took my Mastercard number for renewal purposes. Mastercard was fine for this purpose. Don’t go there!!
I spoke directly with the manager
I spoke directly with the manager in charge when i placed my order, I Said: 1 hotdog and a pizza slice. "Would you like cheese or peperoni?" I spoke with confidence: peperoni please. after ordering the food i waited less than 3 minutes to receive my food no questions asked, I said Thank you and excuse me as i walked to my table. the fountain drinks worked and the condiments are filled. thank you Costco for the great experience.
Organic eggs
Why would the organic eggs have a special coating on them?
Delivery drivers headed by Ryan Hill…
Delivery drivers headed by Ryan Hill were friendly & courteous. I had the minimum of disruption and they both were willing to help. Getting a 2.03m fridge freezer into position is not as easy as it sounds, even negotiating the stairs & through the doorframe the package had to be tilted. Well done 10/10.
COSTCO .. Total Nightmare
Total Nightmare !
.. STICK WITH SAM'S CLUB ... I learned the hard way... Since the Costco store opened near my house I thought I would try them out, though I have been a regular at SAM'S for many years.. what a major mistake.. several reasons.
.#1., first I had to wait in a 30-minutes in a line, just to purchase a membership. I wanted just the basic individual membership however the sales lady held me for over 30 minutes trying every way to talk me into upgrading to the more expensive one.. she would not take no for an answer.. I thought I was dealing with a used car salesman I finally told her.. Look. I want the basic membership quit hounding me
.. so I got the basic membership. A few weeks later I went there to purchase a few items..
#2. REASON NOT 🚫 TO GO TO COSTCO: Simple signage on aisles... Guess what. There are absolutely no signs on the isles indicating a basic idea of what product is down that aisle. They have stock numbers only. So to my surprise since there is no indication what is on that particular aisle you basically.. have to travel down each, and every aisle, to find your product! Apparently this is done so you will buy more stuff as you see. However they have Humongous signs for optical, pharmacy, electronics, membership and such.. but they have Zero signage of what is on what product is on each aisle. So basically it took me over an hour, of traveling down each aisle, just to find 4 products.
#3. Of, NO COSTCO... The lines.. once you get your products you actually have to wait in a line with your cart to check out.. once I wrestled with what I wanted I waited in a line for 20 minutes just to pay for my damn products.. and No, unlike Sam's.. you can't pay with your card. Your card is a membership card you have to pay with your own cash or credit card.. at Sam's you couldn't pay with your Sam's card very easily. So I was baffled once again at the cash register because no one told me that.. and finally there is no difference in price between Sam's and Costco.. matter of fact the coffee and energy drinks were actually around 50 cents higher, that at Sam's. Lastly.. for some unknown phenomenon there are millions of people crowding Costco.. but it's Sam's it's not that over crowded and you can basically get in and out quickly.. Save money.. Easily get to where you're going to because all the aisles are clearly marked with products they contain.. and pay with your Sam's card unlike...Costco.. people have to be stupid to patronize this place.. BACK TO SAM'S I'M CUTTING UP MY COSTCO CARD !
2 day delivery delays
Ordered 4 items for 2 day delivery. Intentionally added items so I would NOT have to pay a fee. TWO of the 4 items were delayed! Costco's delivery and customer service has gone downhill. Very disappointed. Would not recommend. Ordered 3/31/26 and still do not have anything by 4/3/26. That's 2 day delivery???
I recently lost a family heirloom ring…
I recently lost a family heirloom ring on my visit to Costco in Tallahassee, FL. Their team went over and beyond. I really thought I would never see that ring again. I received a call from management 3 days later that the ring had been found and they were holding it for me. I do not know if a team member found it or a customer. During these trying times, it reestablished my trust in society. This store has my loyalty and support forever. Knowing that they are so organized and beyond else, trust worthy. That in itself deserves the utmost respect. That is the kind of business I am happy to support. Thank you again, Costco, Tallahassee, FL. Just like my ring, you are irreplaceable.
Love our nearby locations
We're weekly regulars at our location. I'm sorry to see so many other customers have had issues, but would like to impress that we've had largely good experiences with the company. The CEO's comedic but stalwart stance on hot dog prices and quality had me tickled when we first joined, and I can see why he cares. As the past few years have progressed, I've been able to heavily appreciate their stances, and even now have been pleasantly surprised to learn where many companies have been suing over the tariffs, Costco is intending to return that money to help keep prices lower and the customer experience better.
Upsides: Love the chicken bake, nice shakes, great prices on a lot of items. The staff largely seem engaged and seem to more casually wear a smile. The greeter I tend to see at the Menomonee Falls location is a great guy in general, and I've gotten good support from their customer service representatives anytime we've had an issue. I've never been to a costco in any state that seemed notably different for quality in general so far, which has been a good sign of leadership points. I'm hopeful the staff condition is likewise agreeable, although I'll admit I haven't talked with many of their employees outside of their workplaces.
Downsides: I'm not the biggest fan of drug testing, esp considering some of their competition doesn't expect it. Having worked with folks who can pass a drug test, but shouldn't have a job, and many who can't but cared or needed an exemption for medical reasons, I feel there's a better approach or a reason to determine if some positions are openly exempt.
Likewise I've had some issue in altering the automatic service renewal, not all cards are accepted in-store, and feel I was upsold to the highest membership rating when it wasn't really needed based on our shopping trend (We buy a lot there, but after a few years I don't feel I've seen anything more than maybe a few dozen dollars worth of savings.). I recommend starting at the lowest membership and seeing how your location performs, as well as how much you spend. As a counter point, they've been extremely generous about refunding memberships as needed (such as when we needed to move. We were only a month out from renewal, but they did refund the entire year citing their policies very sternly.).
General Notation: For new time customers, it helps to keep in mind one quirk about Costco is that they're great about recycling boxes for use in helping you get things in and out of the store, but ultimately a recyclable tote of some variant is advisable. Even if you can't/won't take it in the store, it'll be nice once you get to your car and need to sort everything in/out.
P.S. One thing we've done over our time there is actually keep a hold of the biggest, sturdiest, and easiest to stack boxes for easy load-in/load-out. It helps make organization and placement easier, esp when we know exactly how a box will fit in our truck.
Claim denied despite timestamped video evidence
We submitted security camera footage showing a delivery truck on our property on October 3, 2025 at approximately 5:28 PM, along with supporting documentation of the damage. The claim was denied citing a lack of “direct evidence,” despite the timestamped footage and the ability to verify the delivery through the company’s own records (GPS, dispatch, and driver logs). This is a disappointing outcome given the clear and verifiable evidence provided. We have submitted the required information multiple times (at least five submissions), yet the claim continues to be denied while the same information is repeatedly requested. This process has been time-consuming and has not respected the customer’s time.
We are used to Sam's club. Costco is subpar.
We are used to Sam's club, which has more employees on the floors to answer questions, and has an interactive app that lets you bypass the checkout line entirely. Sam's also has a great online ordering system, and I understand Costco's is lacking. I am disappointed that such products are housed in such a poorly run oganization. The gas attendant just told my husband that his membership card is expired...he just OBTAINED IT 2 HOURS AGO!!! Whaaaaat?
Restrictions crazy
accepting only Visa cards is absolutely crazy. Horrible idea and now I can’t shop there.
Won't stand behind customer satisfaction
I have purchased a washer and dryer through them with an Allstate protection program. The Allstate protection program is worthless and takes nothing but time to try and navigate. I've invested literally at least 4 days (and months of waiting) trying to get my dryer fixed. Costco has a satisfaction warranty and given that the warranty is not working, I thought they would honor it. They will not. They sold me a dryer with a warranty provider they apparently know doesn't perform and will not stand behind their guarantee.
Bought a very expensive washer and…
Bought a very expensive washer and dryer set in 2022. It has been nothing but problematic. Started burning our clothes regularly in the last six months. I called Costco, who referred me to Allstate (who is very rude, discourteous and extremely poor customer service). I had to jump through many hoops just to get my warranty registered with a dryer burning clothes (took several weeks). Then they scheduled a service tech (they give you little to no information about them). They did a no-show on first appointment. Then on second appointment they were, of course, late and I had a physical therapy appointment for cancer. The tech said nothing was wrong with my dryer and was very angry and rude on the phone and ultimately said someone from the warranty place would be in touch. Never called. I waited two months and called back Costco. They have washed their hands of it, even though, they admit they sold the warranty and "can't" do anything about it now. They sell a warranty that is useless and are unwilling to help, except send you back to a worthless and rude Allstate. I might as well decide to flush 3500 down the drain with Costco and start over. Really disappointed in their customer service in this situation. Usually a great company, but don't buy large appliances from them. EVER.
Costco…You are slipping.
Your eyeglass dept. used to be exceptional and now it’s the same as Sam’s Club. Ok frames at best and the new employees are not up to par. Some employee named David did a shotty job fitting our new glasses to our faces and when we went back a few days later with a different issue, he was rude and condescending. The ladies who used to work in the East Peoria eye dept. were exceptional. Now it’s ok like any other place.
Another issue is the rudeness of check out associates. My daughter and I share the membership and they were very nasty when we said same membership when paying. The Costco police are out of hand.
Costco used to carry top quality items, now many are nothing better. You can get the same items for less at Sam’s. Getting rid of things like Ghirardelli chocolate chips and many other items they used to carry is making me rethink my membership. I’ve heard many complaints from many of my coworkers. We pay a membership for a pleasant experience and capability to purchase better items. Costco… you are slipping.
Isles not being labeled, and constantly moving products
I’m very tired with the isles not being labeled. I have the store number in my contacts, so when I can’t find things I call administration. The problem with that is they don’t know where the products are, and send you on a wild goose chase. I understand the psychology about not labeling isles and constantly moving products so you will impulse buy while looking for your item. As a result I go in with a specific list and never vary from it. I’m so fed up, I check Amazon for the product before I go to your 3 ring circus of a store!
Out of town, no problem
Was visiting an out of town Costco and didn’t have my membership card. Thought they wouldn’t let me in but I explained the situation and they looked me up and printed out a temporary membership slip so I could go ahead and do my shopping. Nice.
This is random but I really like the bathrooms here. All clean and metallic. Very comfortable.
Pre ordered flowers for Mother’s Day…
Pre ordered flowers for Mother’s Day and asked for delivery on Friday. Received on Monday the day after Mother’s Day and obviously too late.
Entitled employees
I went in the West Des Moines store today and surprise surprise had trouble finding anything. I asked an employee where to find it and they said they had no idea and walked away. Didn't offer to find someone else to help me. I saw them walk over to a sample cart and start eating samples. I was stunned.
This is horrendous customer service. Your employees spend so much time not working and being rude. This isn't the first time this has happened at this location either.
I asked one of the sample people where to find the items I couldn't find, and they told me to find a CostCo employee. When I told her that I already did and they wouldn't help me, she tried to help even though that's not her job and we all know that.
How embarrassing for you CostCo. I've cancelled my membership, not that you care. Horrible employees.
