A friend recommended them to me after having a fantastic experience with their quick turnaround and excellent package. Online service is straight forward but the value really comes from the service and team that are backing it. They were incredibly helpful in supporting all the required coverages, tackling the tricky logistical waters of insurance like seasoned captains -certainly know their stuff.

Needs work to make it useable.
Entered quotew details. Got an email from yachtinsuranceIRCM requesting more info and a link to a login page which is their own and not related to CYI's so I have no account/login there.
CYI may be good, but the EX is immature and needs developing for consumers - situations like this, plus I've never seen a "hull & machinery sum insured" question before - no idea what that is. Then there's no contact to ask any Q's to explain things (or at least popups explaining explicitly what the questions mean). A lot of hassle and all rather uncertain for something legal & important. Needs work to make it useable.

Excellent, Princess V42 Yacht
Great site & service, this is my 3rd season of using CYI for my Princess V42 Motor Yacht policy. I think the marine industry needs more of these tools to ensure policies / brokers / insurers remain competitive, if you consider how many exist across our day to day lives it’s great to see CYI leading the marine way, keep developing guys !

Brian and the Team were very helpful in arranging cover for a newly purchased yacht on behalf of an owner. It was needed quickly as the cover was lapsing on the day of purchase - but it was arranged with the broker very quickly and efficiently! I would not hesitate to recommend them again!

Either poor communication or a "bait and switch"
I don't know where the line between CompareYachtInsurance and the responding broker lies, but my experience with the broker was sub-par at best.
I got a quick response (good), but the proposed coverage did not reflect my request. After working through the details of the requirements, I received another quote (higher premium) for what I wanted. Bound the policy with payment.
But the description of the cover I subsequently received didn't include two elements that had been known from the start--that it was for a race and that the cover needed to apply to the racing area. Received a third quote for a (you guessed it) further increase in premium. The cost of insurance virtually doubled from the first quote to the final one, with no change in my description of coverage requirements.
Unacceptable.
