Auto Renew Policy

Companies today seem to set their purchase terms to "Auto Renew" OF course a lot of us forget, and to our surprise, an automatic renewal is processed, and before you can react, it'd sorry, NO REFUNDS as per our policy. Well, Classmates just lost me as a customer. It's time to change your policy to Manual. and let customers decide when they want to renew.

The site is scammy

The site is scammy - saying "you've got unread messages, pay to see them". Then when you do, it's NOT old classmates, but "classmates admin" simply filling your inbox with spam in order to bait you in.

If I could leave 0 minus stars

If I could leave 0 minus stars, my review would be -199. this place is a total rip-off. they auto debited my account for 60.00 (unauthorized) and said they have a no refund policy. I have contacted my bank to dispute the charge. but I have to wait for it to clear before I can dispute it. I am also going to lodge a complaint with the better business bureau

This site is scamming people

This site is scamming people, please Google the Better Business Site and the internet! My yearly fee was $36.00 and has been (unauthorized) automatically renewed! This year they increased to $96.00, did not inform me and went ahead and automatically charged me the outrageously higher fee. I just saw this robbery when checking my credit card bill. No notification or request for authorization that this was going to happen! I immediately cancelled, but still have until 2027 because I had to pay this new fee without giving them my permission to raise the fee. I probably did not read the fine print and am stuck with the new fee. I am furious with Classmates and am warning you to expect the same treatment! BEWARE! They are CRIMINALS/ PREDATORS!

Classmates offers a source of things that you can get and do with free social networking accounts.

Classmates offers a source of connecting with classmates, sharing photos, purchasing yearbooks and a few more things that you do not need Classmates for. Another thing is that they automatically renew your subscription and claim that they sent an email advising ot the renewal, but they do not. After the free trial, why anybody would renew at a cost of $60 per year is crazy.

Classmates auto-renews payments and don't tell you.

As others, I found out the hard way that classmates.com has buried in their fine print that you will be auto-renewed for payments and that they don't notify you if you have a 3-month membership. Calling them was no use because they just tell you that it is their policy and they can't refund you. Very disappointing.
I also receive way too many emails that try to make it appear that there is activity for you look at but most of it is just notifications of new worthless messages from classmates.com not from actual classmates.

I subscribed Sept 2023 and some four…

I subscribed Sept 2023 and some four dozens of classmates plus both upper and lower got to my inbox. Some three or four times but I could not open to read. Up to now in 2024, some are still reaching my inbox. I responded multiple times to some for a total of 324,with all indicating as being SENT and all indicating as being UNREAD! I have contacted the help staff, better than a half dozen times. They blame my Dell tower computer. They say the classmates are on vacation or they do not bother to read my exchanges. All BS in my book! Not even one out of 324?? I sugested for them to cancel and restart me anew for it mey be the original set up that is screwed up.
They apparently do not have any knowledgable technicians to try and solve the problem or are even unwilling to try. I reviewed their ratings and the one stars says it all. I was all enthused about the a possible opportunity to reach best friends classmates but it has been a great disappointment! Buyers....BEWARE! for date of experiece.....it started day one,Sept 2023 till renew date of Sept 2024 !!

Scam Web Site

This organization had a fantastic opportunity to provide a fun and useful service. Unfortunately, Classmates is not that; Classmates is a confidence game.
1 - They send notices alleging contact from classmates who have died years ago.
2 - A checkmark suddenly appears on "auto renew".
3 - They auto renew without providing notice that the date for auto renew is approaching.
On the date they auto renewed my membership I notified them I did not approve or want auto renew. They claimed I had selected auto renew and would not reverse the charge.

If I could give a zero I would

If I could give a zero I would. I was inundated with emails I unsubscribed. Unknowingly I had subscribed... HUH, to a membership. On 10/31 my method of payment emailed an authorized payment. When I called I was denied a refund on the same day moments after I received the email. The site is not user friendly, nor is customer service.

Do they actually have an IT Dept?

Classmates.com is useful only for keeping in touch with folks you barely knew whenever, IMO. Three months ago, they virtually deleted that feature (previous limit: 5000 characters, now 200) from the website. I called Classmates "Customer, Serve Us" for an explanation; and a nice old lady read the website to me verbatim for 45 minutes before admitting she had no idea what I was talking about. I never got her supervisor's callback, just week after week of identical robonotes with different signatures thanking me for my patience. There is no evidence a single live person ever looked for the problem. Classmates.com is a social media website with an international presence. A significant portion of their users are senior citizens. The company's sloppy admin and bookkeeping practices are legendary. The fraud risk is obvious. So I called their Granny Squad again and requested they cancel all the memberships they assigned in my name, and delete everything I posted on their website or stored in their servers. Two weeks later, it hasn't happened yet. Maybe they need a formal wakeup call from the FTC, FCC, a few state attorneys general consumer protection squads, and Homeland Security (international angle) regarding their lack of concern for customer privacy and data security...

This is a total scam site

This is a total scam site. They automatically put you on auto-renew, charge $99 for a 2-year "membership". I KNOW I turned off auto-renew 2 years ago, when I got an unexpected charge on my card. Yet....I got charged again! When I called customer service I was rudely informed that "an email was sent out 30 days ago regarding renewal (um.... NO it was not) and that she would turn off the auto-renew (which I HAD done 2 years ago) and that they do not give refunds. A dispute with my CC company was fruitless. I have removed all pmt methods and will be deleting my profile - maybe then they will stop robbing me. DON'T THINK OF SIGNING UP - the very few people I've connected with on their platform is so NOT worth $50/year....

Just Terrible.

The site layout is horrible and makes it seem like a scam site, the way it spams you to pay makes it even worse. also all the people that "visit" your profile are likely fake or people you've never met since if you scroll through random people on the "people you may know" it triggers a visit even if you don't click into their profile. this site needs complete new ownership and at least hire a web designer because wow its bad.

SCAM…

I have a case in with PayPal for them charging me auto renewal which I had no idea about. I have found SOOOOOOO many cases of this same complaint or even them turning it back on. The site itself is worthy of a half hour of your time on the FREE level. They entice you to get a membership to see who visited you and who left you messages. It's always Classmates.com that leaves messages and people you've never heard of (probably bogus) visiting your profile. Is a SCAM!
