STAY FAR AWAY from Chronoexpert.
STAY FAR AWAY from Chronoexpert.
They are very quick to respond right up until you have paid.
After that I have not been able to contact them for almost 2 months.
I have tried by phone, email and via whatsapp.
Scam, do not shop at Chronoexpert
Scam, do not shop with them
I ordered a 11,000 EUR watch from David Martin who was initially very responsive. Since then I have had radio silence, despite trying to email, whatsapp and call them
I am now threatening then with going to the police and am determined to get a refund for my money
No watch and no refund
From good to bad to we will see.
You have probably read some of the five stars reviews skipped the two to four and now you want to know the bad stuff.
I ordered a watch, a limited one that can't be found in the boutiques, so therefor I turned to Chronoexpert. Made the payment after some pleasant talks with the sales manager.
Chronoexpert do not have the watches on their website but have "access" to them. The watch I ordered they could not find. After two weeks and some mails that mostly did not get replied, I get the message that something has happened? and I will get a refund.
Chronoexpert kindly apologized.
I am still waiting for the refund but I am sure I will soon receive it......
It is a little like the roulette, place your money and maybe you will win. In some ways I have made a loan to Chronoexpert and wasted my time, nerves and trust to this marked.
I hope you will find this review beneficial in your quest for your dream watch. I was unlucky but maybe you will win the roulette.
Update:
Chronoexpert is now reported to EUROPOL.
I am in contact with a very kind sales manager. The problem seems to be the administration and their lack of care for the customer.
Update 9.9.2022
I have received my refund, thanks to the kind sales manager and his dedication to his job.
Chronoexpert needs to upgrade their servicelevel.
Unresponsive
Never responded to my whatsapp query. Waste of time.
Wouldn't trust a high value purchase from these guys.
New watch turned out to be scratched
I ordered a new watch and they told me it would arrive in a week. It came after 4 weeks, during which I kept asking what was happening, but without a clear answer. The watch did not come with plastic wrap on it and already had scratches on the case and metal bracelet. I didn't get any more explanations, and when I asked for a discount, they said it wasn't possible. I personally had a very bad experience and do not recommend them. They are extremely superficial!
Proceed with caution
Having been assured that the watch I wished to purchase on their website was not only available and in stock it was also in the UK, so I paid the balance in full on 5th April and having received confirmation of the reservation and receipt of payment for the watch I looked forward to receiving it.
To get to the point not only was the watch not available as I was assured it was, I was given excuses for the delay in fulfilling my order. Communication became almost impossible with denial of my emails requesting my refund in full.
Eventually after giving them 7 days in which to respond to my final email and 14 days in which to return my £4600 payment in full it was finally refunded to my credit card on the final and 14th day, 27th May, over seven weeks after placing my order with them.
The seller is trustworthy
The seller is trustworthy. Very quick and friendly contact and feedback. Delivery a little later than stated, but otherwise everything was great.
I cannot recommend Chronoexpert
Sorry for this long review, but I want to share the full experience that I had with Chronoexpert to allow everybody to make your own assessment of this company.
I started my experience via the Danish website of Chronoexpert.
Apr 13 “Tak for din ordre”
- I ordered a Rolex GMT Master II 16710 “with box and papers” via the Danish online store of Chronoexpert
- Reading the order confirmation, I realized that Chronoexpert is based in Spain
- I’ve send an email to Chronoexpert with two questions: 1) can I pay in Euros and what is the price of the watch in Euros? 2) can I get a picture of the papers as they were not visible in the pictures on the homepage
Apr 13 and 14 - David from customer service
- David from customer service is writing via email that “In this model, we only have the service papers. Perhaps I can suggest another piece for you with the original documents, is that ok?”
- My reply: “I am OK with it. Do you prefer a bank transfer in Danish Krones as I have it in the invoice or in euros? If in euros, please send me the amount”
- Davide: “I´m afraid the watch is not available”
- My reply on Apr 14: “Why is the watch suddenly not available?”
- No answers anymore
Apr 15 - Switch to WhatsApp
- As I did not get any response from Chronoexpert via email anymore, I tried other channels finding out that Chronoexpert is also doing its correspondence via WhatsApp
- I wrote with reference to my order number that I am confused because of the above mentioned email communication and that I would like to buy the ordered watch
Apr 19 - Finally an answer
- from Chronoexpert “This Rolex GMT Master II 16710 has a price in euros of 11,300”.
- Great! I’ve asked if this means that the watch is available. Answer from Chronoexpert: “The watch has been reserved by other customers. If you have already made the payment we will check the priority.”
- My reply “I could do a real time transfer right away, but then I need to know that I’ll get the watch.”
- The above communication happened between 11:30 and 13:15. After that it went silent again and Chronoexpert did not answer to my request to confirm that I’ll get the watch if I pay it with a real time transfer.
Apr 20 - Follow-up and disappointment
- I followed-up in the morning of the 20th and ask for a reply on the conversation from the day before
- Answer from Chronoexpert: “we are sorry but unfortunately the item is no longer available”
- I asked if they could offer an alternative. They did and send an offer for a 16710 at a price that was more than 70% (!) or 8,000 Euros higher
- I asked them how they want to live up to their promise of “exceptional service at heart” (I’ve taken this claim from the Chronoexpert homepage).
- Answer from Chronoexpert: “We believe there is a mis-understanding in your part.”
I ask everybody to make your own assessment of this experience and ask yourself if you want to spend your money (and time) with this company. I for myself decided that Chronoexpert is a highly questionable business.
- You order a watch.
- You learn after several attempts of contact that this watch has been “reserved by other customers” (please note the plural in customerS)
- I asked myself what you have happened if I would have paid the watch.
- Looking at Trustpilot you will find reviews from 2022 with the following statements
- “AVOID – still waiting for refund”
- “purchase made for 54,800 GBP… I have now involved the police”
- “almost 5 weeks later… only received 1,000 EUR. Remaining amount of 11,000 EUR still not received.”
- “sold me a Rolex watch priced at 15,500 GBP… they are no longer responding. I am pursuing legal action”
When you read this, please keep in mind that Chronoexpert is a business that offeres the majority of products at a price of >5,000 Euros; in several cases even above 100,000 Euros.
Do you want to make the same experience? I do not and I will hope that this review helps others to avoid making even worse experiences.
I was looking for a specific watch…
I was looking for a specific watch which was found for me. It took some time but I have received now and am very happy.
Outstanding and efficient transaction - Omega Ploprof
Outstanding and efficient transaction with Chronoexpert - all stages of the purchase were exemplary after they located my 2022 Omega Titanium Ploprof and secured it for me. Nowhere in the UK could supply this watch at all. Customer service was spot on and efficient - I will definitely use them again well done.
A proud owner of my new dream watch 💥👍
I recently purchased a vintage watch
I recently purchased a vintage watch through here and I found the general experience very good. Once I confirmed the watch I wanted was available I made the purchase and was issued an receipt of the purchase. At this point there is a time frame where they test the watch to make sure it meets the standards required for the end user (so it’s best to be patient but do follow up from time to time). This can take 2/3 weeks as I found. However once I received the watch, it was exactly as advertised. I wouldn’t hesitate in using these guys again, Alejandro in particular was helpful.
5-stars and that’s why…
I’m very satisfied with my purchase even if I didn’t got the right one on picture. There was an error with the website at the exact moment I ordered the watch but it turned out to be the right watch for me anyway and they were very service minded and wanted me to be happy about the situation and offered me a lot of options. So my hole experience was more than fine. I can really recommend them and a big shout out to Salvatore for helping me in the best way.
I am impressed by the collections they…
I am impressed by the collections they have out for sale. I saw all the major brands and the prices that they were giving away the products in are quite affordable. I would choose Chronoexpert whenever I want to shop for watches for sure.
It was the best of service, it was the worst of service.
After finding a watch I wanted to buy, Chronoexpert salesman David Martin was very service-minded and quick to reply my e-mails. When it turned out the watch I had requested was not available, Mr. Martin found a similar watch from another supplier. Happy days. I made the purchase, transferred the money and all of a sudden, Mr. Martin simply started either being very slow in his replies, or simply did not answer. I spent a lot of time hunting him down via e-mail and phone, and I spent a lot of money on the watch. I felt worried that I had been scammed, as my initially very service-minded contact person seemed all of a sudden to be less interested in replying my requests for an update.
Weeks went by with no replies, and out of the blue, I get an e-mail telling me that there's been a mistake – Chronoexpert is not able to get the watch from their supplier after all. Bummer. This is more than a month after making the purchase. I got this information from a customer service e-mail, not from my silenced salesman, David Martin. I felt poorly treated and of course sad that I could not get my watch. The whole initial part of the contact with Chronoexpert left me feeling poorly treated, worried and insecure.
Weeks after, I received an e-mail from customer service telling me that they could sell me a similar watch, but from another year. I said yes, and from then on, communication was great. Fast replies, concrete information, overall good service. I received my watch and I have no complaints about the second part of my more than two-month long exchange with Chronoexpert.
Would I recommend Chronoexpert to others? No. The initial part of the process, finding a watch and making the purchase did not feel very safe. I was worried, and customer service seemed disinterested in me, once I had transferred the money. The initial part of the process, for me, is wildly important. This is the phase where you want to feel you can trust the vendor, trust the sales person, and trust the watch will one day sit on your wrist. I did not feel any of those things.
I have the watch now, and I love it. But because of the initial part of the proces, I cannot recommend Chronoexpert to others. The goods news, to Chronoexpert, is that they can take steps to make the process better and less stressful to clients. But it starts with improving customer service, especially in the initial vulnerable part of the purchase process. I spent too much money to be treated this nonchalantly.
I would highly recommend Chronoexpert…
I would highly recommend Chronoexpert if you have a keen eye for luxury watches. My grandpa is very fond of watches and I got him a Tag Heuer in his 75th last month. Needless to say he was over the moon and would wear it every opportunity he got.
Find the biggest brands
You will find the biggest brands of watches and the great thing is that you will be getting it for much lower prices than they usually cost. The watch that I settled for turned out to be great although I had my doubts citing that it was priced so moderately.
AVOID- still waiting on refund
Made an online purchase for a watch, after which I've been told the watch was not available anymore. I've now been waiting for over 2 weeks for the refund, they don't answer my calls or emails. AVOID them!
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!
DO NOT TRUST - purchase made for £54800. I was assured my Alejandro Domingo that the item was available and reserved. He called me on several occasions and sent an invoice. I made partial payment with bank transfer and remained with credit card. After which I haven't received the watch. They do not respond to emails or answer phonically. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I have now involved the police & fraud authorities
