One Star, Because I Cannot Give Zero Stars

I placed an online order for communion cups on February 1, 2023. The confirmation email said the "item is in stock and ships within 24-48 hours". Today, February 13, I called to check the status of my order and was told my order was cancelled because the product is not available. They said I can order different communion cups instead. I asked for some samples to see if they would work, Allison said they are not allowed to send samples.
It took almost two weeks to find out my order was cancelled when it should have shipped within two days.
I DO NOT recommend this company.

Complete scam artist

Complete scam artist. They didn’t do the edits as we asked, they took our money and didn’t refund anything-even though they didn’t provide the services requested. There editors changed our own edits. Who does that? When an author writes a book in first person, it’s different than writing a story. These people could not grasp that concept.
I would put your money elsewhere.
Nothing Christian about this company!

Christian Books.com has completely unethical customer service

Christian Books.com has completely unethical customer service. People who pick up the phone have no respect for customers and are extremely rude. I placed 50 copies of training materials on early Monday and paid extra for two days' shipment (Order # 126451835). After the order was set, I called to confirm everything was correct, and the guaranteed shipment after two days would be Wednesday. After two days, I received an email stating that 30 copies of my order had partially shipped and the rest 20 copies will be delivered on July 4 (i.e., after three weeks.). I called and spoke to a person named Chris, a person of extreme disregard for customer service. Chris declined to return the extra payment I have made for the expedited shipment. He said the two-day expedite shipment starts when the order has shipped, NOT the date the order has been placed. I had never heard of such expedited delivery before. My order was for Sunday School teachers' training over the weekend. Chris said you could cancel the order and go elsewhere if you want. I had never had such disrespectful customer service, which was very disappointing.

Worst Customer service ever

Ordered a Bible six days ago and it still has not shipped. Contacted CBD to request cancellation of order because I found I can get the same Bible through Amazon and have it here within two days--with free shipping no less.
Cancellation requested but no response confirming cancellation has been received--just notice that it MAY ship within next two days.
This company has the absolute worst shipping practices of any online retailer I've ever dealt with.

Woeful customer Service

I have been a long time overseas customer of CBD. And there is no good way of saying this, their customer service is terrible. my last order was 3 books from them it took ages for them to set out. When they were sent out the overseas company that they used dumped the package with the wrong company. My local post women knocked on my door and told me that it was them when it should have done been and I had to pay extra postage. When contacting customer service they didn't care less and they didn't even respond with a full sentence it didn't matter that I gave proof I just got literally one word answers plus the books were pretty rough looking. They have great prices but this is at the cost of woeful customer service and a company that does not care just as long as they have the money. it took me about 6 attempts for them to grasp the problem with the usual I am sorry and doing nothing about it. Woeful service and woeful after service only good because they are cheap and have books I want but cant get in the UK.

Long time customer, satisfied too!

Long time customer, and satisfied with Availability, Services, Prices, and CSR!
We were introduced to these folks to find
Eusebius' Church History about 17 years ago
by a great friend Steve Fernandes (RIP).
I can't believe that folks are having problems with Christianbooks however I have recommended them successful for years!

Their system of charging your account…

Their system of charging your account is so ridiculous. I had the amount of the full order put on hold then I was charged for each group of items as they were shipped out. This brought my account balance almost to negative as it was a large order and they shipped my order out in 3 shipments. Had I known this is the way you are billed, I would of went elsewhere to purchase my items.

I have been a long time customer of…

I have been a long time customer of Christianbook.com and placed many orders over the years. The last order I placed, I could tell that the quality of the items have went down hill and they sent you items not as described. I had ordered a new 'Leather' check book cover to replace one I had ordered from them at least 10 or more years ago and the new one I received was NOT 'Leather' it was faux leather, I kept it as I didn't want the hassle of a return and have to send it back and wait for another Fake Leather one. Now , What really has been irking me is I receive emails with the subject line "FREE SHIPPING"
which I will copy and paste here for you to see:
Subject: Hours Left: Free Shipping & Hot Summer Sale ~ Up To 83% Off
This is a ploy to pull you in as there is NO free shipping at all, once you open the email read the small print and you have to spent a minimum of $35.00 to get that FREE SHIPPING , that is no deal.
They are suppose to be a Christian business and they LIE and trick their customers. I sent them an email and did receive a reply , I was told that they can't afford to offer free shipping on any orders or they wouldn't be able to have sales and low prices , What a load of crap. I wrote it's the point that you state in the subject of your emails Free Shipping and that's a lie , they told me they were not going to go back and forth with me over this and they were done. I wrote , people are sick of your tricky deceitfulness and you will begin to lose customers, they just did ME.
Beware of this so called Christian Book Distributor aka Christianbook.com as they lie and they have NEVER had free shipping in the 15 plus years that I have done business with them.

Not good anymore!

I’ve been ordering from them for at least 10 years. I don’t know what happened to them for the last few years or so. They went down hill fast once they started. I order something maybe once a year. It’s usually a shipping problem like it takes so long to leave their facility or in this case, shipping. I paid $5.99 for shipping. The msg I received when shipped was supposed to be FedEx Smartpost. Then the FedEx tracking said it was changed to regular FedEx. So far this week my package was on a tour of NJ. 3 different places and now back to the original. I don’t think FedEx changed i I think CB.com did somehow. This is the 7th day. Stick with Amazon people. I do.

Christianbook.com? No, CHRISTIANCROOKS.COM

Through the years I have purchased hundreds of Bibles for many different causes, but for myself friends and family I focus on Genuine Leather editions. I recently purchased a second copy of The Companion Study Bible, making sure I ordered a GENUINE LEATHER from these folks and I was shipped a bonded leather one. When I contacted "customer service" and I use those words lightly, I was told and I quote: "Whatever is printed on the box is what you received". Sorry, but I received a BONDED leather and I clearly know the difference! I even had to explain the difference to their "product specialist". I don't care what "the box says" as I have over 30 Genuine Leather translations in my library and what they shipped me was NOT one. This is not the first issue I have had with this horrific company but it will be the last. During 2020 I placed an order of various products that were in stock, they held up my order for weeks AFTER taking my money. When I called to ask why they did this they said and again I quote: "We have to pay our employees", yes you do, and you also have to ship your customers the products they pay for!! I will NEVER use this crooked company again and I hope you all take heed as to the practices of this company!!!

Lego on PreOrder

I was looking for LEGO ® Icons Botanical Bonsai Tree, which was sold out everywhere, but this site had it available for $5.00 less than MSRP, but for preorder. I had never ordered from here before, but decided to try it out. Sure enough, the item came through on time, about 1 month after I had ordered it. They even sent me periodic updates -- i ordered the item on 4/17, I received an update (just confirming the order is still in) on 5/2 and 5/12, then a shipping notification on 5/17. It arrived on 5/23.

Customer service is poor

Customer service is poor. I ordered a Bible on Monday of this week. It sat for three days in a FedEx distribution center in the town where CBD is located. I contacted CBD several times over this issue via e-mail and never received a response. I have found this to be typical from having problems with other orders in the past. They do not work on behalf of the people who keep them in business.
I found out today that I could have purchased the same Bible from Walmart.com for three dollars less than what I paid for the same edition at CBD--and I could have had it shipped to me for free with guaranteed delivery in two business days.
And the Customer Service Reps at Walmart.com treat every customer complaint with the respect it is due.
I won't be doing business with CBD ever again.

Recurrent shipping delays and excuses.

Package indicates shipped on April 6th. 5 days later and two customer service reps, package still hasn’t left CBD warehouse. Told it doesn’t matter...that FedEx isn’t updating their tracking info regularly DUE TO COVID of course! If I don’t receive my item by the 20th, call back so we can look into it...SO FRUSTRATING! I paid for FAST shipping, I want my shipping refunded.

Charged for an order I canceled

I had canceled an order because it was on backorder (twice) and I found it elsewhere. My account showed that it was canceled, yet they sent the books to me anyway. I immediately contacted them and told them that the package had been damaged and that I had canceled the order, did not want it, and asked what to do. They never responded. About a month later, I received a charge on my credit card. I contacted them and was told that it was for the books they had sent. I told them that I had canceled the order. They said for me to get a refund, I had to return the books AT MY EXPENSE!! I requested a refund for the return shipping as well as the books. They didn't even give me a full refund for the books. They have never responded to any of my emails. I expect more of a business that calls themselves "Christian"
