He is the best driving instructor I ever found in UK since I have come to this country because of he's good way teaching make me strong in learning how to drive car he built in lot of confidence in me and because of him I pass my driving in 1st time.... I would strongly recommend to anyone who wishes to learn to drive & wish to pass in 1st go..... Thanks

Easy from start to finish they made it all possible. My instructor was calm and understanding making sure I was confident and Comfortable before going through with my test. Great company highly recommended!!

If anyone is owed a money from car captain please contact a lady called natasha at forbes Burton. She has said if enough of us come together we could take action to wind up the company as they have gone bust.

I have paid £575 for my son to do an intensive driving course and test. He had most of the lessons before the first lockdown on March 23 2020 but did not complete the course or have a driving test booked. I have emailed Car Captain and left numerous voicemails but no response. I am about £225 out of pocket but I'm not asking for a refund, I simply want my son to be able to finish the course and do his driving test.

Has this company gone under?

So I phone these last night they have changed company name owing people thousands of pounds so now for the next corse of action will be going to the police there's no way there getting away with this scumbags pure and simple

J C Kriel and Y A Kriel have been cheating clients and people around them for years. They are in the UK living on a residential permit and do not even have UK citizenship.
So they are stealing from UK citizens while actually being guests in our country!! The so-called Christians?

All their companies have different addresses though their home address is 8 Holly Crescent IG8 9PD from where they are actually doing all their dealings.
J C Kriel has been investigated for fraud before and at this moment there is more proceedings and investigations taking place. He has also been declared bankrupt before.

Owner of Carcaptain Ltd, J C Kriel and Y Kriel, has removed all contact numbers for this company but opened another driving school called * Best Driving School London - BDSL*

Though they owe clients refunds and instructors outstanding payments from Carcaptain LTD, they have received a grant during the Lockdown and have not used this funds to pay the outstanding money but to fund a new business and went on a European holiday.

"I'd be very careful putting any stock in Chris Kriel aka Johannes Christian Kriel's statements, anybody speaking about "Financial Freedom" on their linkedin page and considered MTI to be a legitimate business lacks critical thinking capability. Also his personal dealings with RAG are a bit dubious. From a forum post regarding him: RAG uses a domain that was/is owned by Chris Kriel's business DMWiz
. The website for RAG is done by Chris Kriel's business DMWiz,and uses the same skin as the company owning the "Paypal Node" which is graciously being offered to RAG to collect donations. The "Paypal Node" is run by a company owned by Chris Kriel,that re-registered late last year from being a "Misc consulting firm" to "IT consultancy".

Like many others I am having the exact same problem I had a phone call with a member of management with the company September 7th 2020 when I was promised because I am a key worker and that they were at the time aloud to perform driving lessons that I would be contacted to continue with what I’ve paid for, and of course I have heard NOTHING since that phone call.
As of April 12th 2021 driving lessons are permitted to continue in the uk and so now they have no excuse but yet they can not be contacted so please if you are reading this save yourself a lot of stress and money and do not use this company

THEY ARE FRAUD! I was due a refund in February 2020, before the pandemic happened. I have email confirmation from them agreeing that I was due the refund and was to receive it by 17th February 2020. They’ve refused to respond to me even before the pandemic happened and now just use the pandemic as an excuse.

Like many other people here, I have not received a refund for CarCaptain despite waiting nearly a year for any lessons at all.

I urge anyone who has had the same experience to report this to the police via Action Fraud, and quote crime reference number NFRC210204279281.

EDITED AFTER REPLY: Carcaptain has said their offices have been shut due to the lockdown. I don't see how this is possible, given that this has been nearly a year now, and other driving schools have been teaching where permitted. I would still encourage anyone who feels they have been a victim of fraud to report this.

I invested a lot of money in this company to do an intensive driving course. After completing 24/30 hours my practical test was cancelled due to Covid. I was promised that when the DVLA was back up and running my test would be booked right away and the rest of my lessons completed. This was in July, it is now December. I have called and emailed multiple times with no answer. I have even tried to get in touch with the MD on LinkedIn with no luck. I want my money back to I can do this on my own as their services have been a complete waste of money. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

UPDATE - It is now April when everything is open and lessons are able to resume and after multiple calls and emails there has been no reply. As per the comment made my someone else in Feb I tried to report them to Action Fraud, however, was sent to report them to the Trading Standards. I would highly advise everyone else does the same!!!

I have mixed thoughts on this company. Susan was utterly lovely throughout the process, helped book everything I needed (right lesson amount, theory, practical) and checked in throughout on my progress.

My instructor, Jay, however was quite mixed. Driving wise, he did help me pass first time and was patient with maneuvers and my confidence level. Yet there were a number of unprofessional things he did. A number of times without any forwarning and despite us having an agreed pick up/drop off location, he had me drive him to his house, or even meet me at his house at the start of the lesson. The first time I thought maybe it was just timing, but it happened a number of times where I was just driving him to his house and finding my own way home from there.
He also cancelled a couple sessions with no repercussions, but when I tried to rearrange one due to work, I was told I'd get fined? I mean I understand if it's protocol, but he shouldn't be allowed to cancel whenever he wants when I'm the one paying hundreds of pounds.
He also asked me a number of times to speed as he didn't want to 'waste any lesson time'. This felt ridiculous and the only issue that impacted my driving directly. The majority of my minors were speeding related and this kind of thing is why. It was firstly illegal and secondly not fair on me as a new driver to do this. As an instructor, he should have the time planned so speeding is not necessary. He wanted to get me to the driving route quicker, but on my test, we didn't even go any of the routes practiced. So the speeding was useless.
When I did pass, something that made me very happy, Jay said it was due to the luck of an easy test and made no comment on my actual driving ability.

While I'm grateful for the company, Susan and Jay for their help, I feel these things should be logged and noted, especially as one of them is completely illegal and the others just unprofessional. I've heard great things about a few of the instructors, but it's important if you go with this company to change your instructor quickly if you don't feel comfortable, otherwise you're in a long learning experience that does not make you comfortable in the car.

I have £1000 invested with the company, lessons (all 6 hours of my total 40) were fine before lockdown.

Since then there has been radio silence, I have rung, emailed, left messages and been told nothing but that they are busy and the DVLA is not running properly.

This is untrue, the instructor who was teaching me (who hasn't been paid by the company since January) said she's been able to book tests from the DVLA no problem and often within a week.

I don't hold much hope of getting my money back at this point, but please if you are thinking of taking lessons with them find somewhere else and save your money.

I had a horrible experience with Halam. He completely knocked my confidence with 2 lessons left he become very patronising & practically started throwing fits! I insisted that I wanted to do the test & if I fail, so be it but nonetheless he had me doubting myself & cancelled my test when my theory was expiring the day after. The company kept some money & justified it by saying “If you decide to book lessons again, this amount will be deducted” DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I had an absolutely awful experience with Chris as my driving instructor! I would dread going to lessons as he had no patience, I was always polite and he would get very angry if I made a mistake or didn't understand something.. Which is inevitable as I was a learner!!! Wouldn't recommend at all, made me feel as if I was stupid, after weeks of lessons I changed to another school who made me enjoy driving, so much more relaxed and I then became calmer on the road and passed first time!

Carcaptain have delayed payment to their Instructors on a regular basis, and owe an Instructor for 31 lessons completed before the lockdown, and still haven't paid. Another Instructor is owed for 100 lessons completed before the lockdown, and still haven't paid them; disgusting. This created much hardship during the lockdown itself, and with no communication from them from the beginning of lockdown to the end of July, and then demanded the full car payments for the entire lockdown period, amounting to nearly £3000.00, when Instructors were not allowed to work.
Steer clear of this company, and go with them at your peril.

These people are frauds. Their prices are more expensive than the other known driving schools. The team is utterly disrespectful and denied me a refund after I paid for a week intensive course that they didn't deliver! The positive reviews are put out there by themselves I can guarantee, its not a coincidence most people had the same problem with them. They are scammers, please report if possible avoid at all cost. You'll be safer if you used one of the known driving schools.

Unfortunately for me I had an instructor named HALLAM who was super unpleasant to deal with. Imagine an instructor that would throw a fit over a student asking simple relevant questions such as "Which switch turns on the fog lights?".

He was late for almost all the few lessons i had before cancelling and was cutting his toe nails in the front passenger seat before a lesson, which is just disgusting.

Paid for an 'intensive' driving course where this instructor would leave me stranded in Edgewere for an hour in-between his lessons to go and instruct someone else. (Was not mensioned by him or the saleswoman on the phone, took my by suprise completely)

I atleast got some of my money back, look elsewhere or find a instructor verified by your family or a friend. Don't gamble with this company as they clearly don't vet all their instructors.

Highly recommend using car captain for all your driving needs! I had a great instructer named Abdul made everything very simple and easy to learn, great flexibility and all around good experience, passed first time with nothing that surprised me. Highly recommend.

As good as a scam. A legitimate business will refund you if you are not happy with their service. For no fault of my own, carcaptain’s driver cancelled most of the arrangements, when I was no longer willing to put up with it and asked for a refund for the hours they didn’t commit to, they never got back to me.

A really excellent service that was fully tailored to my needs which were quite particular. Sayeed is a fantastic instructor who clearly cared about me and my needs. He went beyond his duties and took on lessons at 0630am for me in order to accommodate my work schedule. Sayeed was very calm and patient with me which was exactly what I needed. I have had other instructors in the past and none have come close. Everything on the admin end was also super flexible and well oiled. I would highly recommend using Car Captain and Sayeed.
