Most dissatisfied experience at the Ajax store

Hello. I've visited the Canada Computers store in Ajax alongside my son, who purchased an Xbox controller and the extended warranty for it. The controller was purchased March 15, 2023, and the extended warranty expires in 2026.
This controller worked great until a few days ago when the right bumper started intermittently failing. My son tried to use a pressured air spray to clean it up and after 30-40 minutes, the button acts up once again.
We came to the store asking for a replacement under warranty. The store manager, Ronald V, stated that he can't trust us that the item is defective, and he needs to replicate the issue in store. I asked him how long do we need to be there since this isuue is intermittent and pretty random, and he said `as much as we need to'. I asked him why would a normal person come to a store with a working controller, asking for a straight replacement, and he didn't know what to say. So after talking to this person like I was talking to a wall, I agreed to leave the controller with the store for a day so they replicate the issue. My next question would have been how much time are they going to stress test a controller under the same condition a teenager would, and doing their job at the same time, but honestly, I just gave up.
I want to say how disappointed I am with their service. My son bought this out of his own savings, and I advised him to purchase the extra warranty, hoping that he's going to use this controller for a long time. After my experience with this store in Ajax, I can tell you that it was the last time I shopped there. This Ronald V person refused to give me a clear escalation path or a feedback form, so I'm using this as a complaint for a terrible customer service and attitude towards a paying customer. I will use all available means to get my kid the product that he deserves, and paid for.

Generation Z in action.

Garbage. Went to Canada computers in Orleans to get a Lenovo laptop case changed because they advised me previously that they worked on Lenovo. I own/run a small business so getting my laptop fixed is really crucial as I do tons of work on it 7 days per week. Weren’t able to help me in any way, wouldn’t commit to any repair or parts, technician not working so couldn’t speak to anyone who actually works on computers. The clerk I spoke to has no idea what he was doing - zero customer service - basically a business being run by condescending teenagers. Do not go to this business for anything.

Dishonest and Slippery

Terrible. Dealt with Carlo as the last person seems to have had an issue with. They definitely do not value their customers. Unwilling to honor any of their policies. Was told I was refused the price match on the day of purchase because although the company was canadian, wasn't on an approved list of suppliers which is no where stated in their policy but still, i chose to go with them as i once had faith in the company. Upon purchase was openly advertised the price protection policy. Then the price was lowered 14 days after the purchase, clearly in line with their price protection policy. I was provided with a false receipt via online chat which didn't match mine as the first excuse, later redacted. Then told although the policy states if we lower our price within 15 days we will gladly refund the difference. It was because i reported later in the same sale period/ week rather then within 24 hours from the time they lowered the price which took effect 14 days after the purchase. There is a request window not stated in the policy and again provided via chat. Which would have left me with 24 hours to notice and report their own price adjustment. They will come up with every excuse imaginable to avoid fulfilling their own stated commitments to the customer. I dont care about the money, its the lack of respect for the customer that ticks me off. Delaying and refusing to answer questions. There are companies out there that do appreciate their customers and don't lack integrity, I would go with them.

Bad customer service? Not for me.

I have no idea what individual stores are like when their customer service, but the folks I talked to online on their Facebook were absolutely wonderful. Answered all my questions and concerns with kindness and understanding. I had a computer shipped to me, took a little over a week and I'm in a more isolated location than most. Incredible experience. I would highly recommend.

Indirect Abuse and Lack of Professionalism

The manager's assistance was impolite and exhibited behavior that indirectly abused my son. We had mentioned that the package was used before we purchased it, and they assured us that returning it within 30 days would not be a problem. However, the mouse we bought had a problem with one of the buttons, and considering its expensive price, we decided to exchange it for a more expensive model.

Unfortunately, when we approached the manager's assistance to request the exchange, they rudely refused and displayed unprofessional behavior. It was evident that their expertise was far less than that of my son. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and I have never encountered such behavior in other stores. I never come back to the store.

i went in to the store relying on the…tech and the longetivti of the strore being around

i went in to the store relying on the techs advice to sell me a computer with a video card capable of operating 4 monitors if i got them - they said the Armoury build would suffice - i had the computer for less then the 15 day return policy and was in a move to a new place and misplaced the wire and some nuts - but in the mean time i got two monitors - they were acting up so i though it was manufacturers isues but when i checked them it was the video card in the computer - i took it back - they jerked me around so bad !!! and wasted my time the manager at the St. Catharines store didnt have the decency to even come out - and because i dont have the bolts and the sata wire and the little baggy that came with the computer in the box they said you out of luck - they wont even exchange the video card for a new one even though i have video of the screen malfunctioning due to the video card - i will never buy anything from these useless scamers again - i called corporate and they were absolutely "USELESS" - then they said they got the regional manager in volved - that person was absolutely "USELESS"
the store manager was absolutely "USELESS"
I tell you i really wish i read this thread first cause that place is a TRAP

Very disappointed with the customer…

Very disappointed with the customer care and service at this location. I have been buying from the Burlington location for many years, but since I live in Oakville I decided to give this new location a try. The $431 three-year Tech Care plan is a complete waste of money. I purchased a lap top for my son for school which was clearly defective. It just wasn’t charging. I took it back to get a repair or replacement under warranty and got nothing but poor service and zero communication, and the laptop has been in their possession for almost three months. Whenever I ask to speak to someone in upper management there is nobody in charge. Hopefully someone in upper management there reads their Reviews to take some action!! Not only did I buy a defective laptop but the 3-year Tech Care Plan is also defective and does not provide any tech care.

i struggle writing a negative review…

i struggle writing a negative review but people need to know. left a lenovo laptop they advertise as being a licensed repairer for on april 6 on upper wentworth in hamilton. it had a loose charging port. said it could be 2-3 weeks as it was done offsite.
two weeks later i called for an update (i use the laptop for work) and Andrew told me "we were still within the window" he continued repeating the same line 'til i gave up. i called back on the 19th and learned it was "on the bench" at head office. on the 27th i called in to learn it hadn't even left their store until the 17th. the earlier information was fiction.
after the 2-3 week window had passed i asked Andrew what the strategy was once we were "outside the window"... he hadn't been scripted with that yet so he remained mute.
May 17 Sean called and said it had been returned unfixed. i had been without my laptop for well over a month, received fiction instead of repairs. Sean was decent (hence the 1 star) and said he apologized since it was a simple fix and suggested i go to lenovo direct. when i went in to retrieve my laptop i asked to speak to a manager. none offered. i asked for one to contact me and if i didnt hear i would assume they didnt care. none reached out. my advice is to avoid this place at all costs

Can't even get me a response to a price…

Can't even get me a response to a price match request, even after a few times calling and asking several times. I mean, they have a rating of 2. TWO. No thanks, I'll take my business elsewhere. Kind of thankful they didn't get back to me, not a vendor I will or want to work with.

Wish I could rate it a 5.

My brothers computer stopped working and usually i can fix that no problem as it was just a windows install but he didn’t give me enough time and just brought it over there they charged 200$!!!! For a simple windows install and data backup.

My personal experience was good enough I just bought pc parts.

DONT GO HERE

DONT GO HERE! DONT ORDER ANYRHING FROM THEM!. It's companies like this that should have shut down over covid. These guys don't care about the customers that purchase thier products. I ordered a product over a month ago and these people will not update the customers on the orders they have ALREADY paid for. They couldn't give a strait answer if the life of the company depended on it. Worst customer service is ever expected. I'm so tired of the run around. I'm contemplating on just taking a refund and going elsewhere but I'm worried these incompetent individuals won't pay me my money back. If you're ordering parts just use new egg or memory express. These guys are completely out of touch with customers and have no idea what's going on under thier own roof.

Dreadful customer service and experience

I purchased a desktop on February 25th, I was informed it would take 1 month to arrive. when it finally arrived, it was destroyed in shipping. After all, it only travelled 300km from Hamilton to Ottawa. I refused acceptance of the item and returned it. When I asked for a replacement item, instead of communicating with me, they refunded me instead of sending me a computer. Having financed the item, I’ve now lost an additional $160 admins fees for financing. I’m now stuck paying for something I’ll never get. I needed the desktop for work and am now losing income. They’ve offered nothing to rectify their screw ups. Customer service has been a complete disaster. I can’t seem to get any answers over the phone of what is happening, I can’t get any timely responses to emails. They truly do not have any respect for their customers or value their business. If I were you and are reading this, you should definitely take your money and business elsewhere. This is the worst customer experience I’ve ever had. 0 out of 5 stars. One would think that if you spent $5000 on hardware and waited a month just for it to show up trashed you would at least get some timely communication and solution. Definitely take your business elsewhere.

I purchased a new desktop with Windows…

I purchased a new desktop with Windows 11 at another Canada Computer store. I was having considerable difficulty in having it work with my Canon Printer. The tech at the main desk, whose name I do not have, took considerable time and effort in downloading the correct software that enable my printer to work. I was very satisfied!

I would have no problem in recommending this store to others and intend to give it any further of my electronic/computer business. My deep thanks to him for his time and effort.

If you're buying a gpu do not buy their tech care replace.

Bad customer service and If you're buying a GPU DO NOT purchase their tech care replace plan.

Stick with the manufacturer's warranty and get an extended one, trust me you'll be saving a lot money.
I made a grave mistake by buying their 3-year tech care replace warranty. I bought a gigabyte 3080ti eagle 12gb GPU 2 years ago, at the time I didn't know the terms of the tech care replace because I bought in-store and the retail guy told me that If something happens to the GPU you can bring in to have it fixed or replaced and I was like cool. During that time I knew that many GPU manufacturers still honor the warranty even if you've opened the GPUs (EVGA, Gigabyte) as long as you didn't take any serials out, stickers or damage it. At that time It was my first time shopping at CC and I thought that they would honor their warranty the same way as the manufacturers would for their GPUs. The GPU I bought didn't have any stickers in one of its screws so I thought that Its fine to open the GPU. it only has the serial sticker and a bar code inside the GPU in which I didn't touch. I did some maintenance on it as soon as I bought the GPU such as changing thermal pads and paste and it has been working for 2 years straight with better thermals than a stock one. A few days ago, I was playing VR until my computer suddenly shuts down and when I try to turn it on again there weren't any display output. The GPU itself was still working though (fans and lights still work) but there were no signs of any display output. I went to Canada Computer to hopefully use the warranty and they told me they'd diagnose it and I'll have to come back the next day. The next day comes and when I went back to pick it up they've told me that I was denied of warranty because I took the manufacturer's sticker out (I took none out). I told them about how there were no stickers that I took out, they still denied the warranty. Heck, they wouldn't even fix it even If I were to pay for it. Apparently "There's nothing we can do" says the repair guy. I was lucky that the GPU still has manufacturer's warranty so I shipped it to gigabyte and they approved my RMA. They are currently fixing it as we speak. In conclusion, If you buy a GPU from CC don't buy their tech care replace as you will be disappointed. They will find a way to invalidate your warranty at all cost. Take a look at EVGA they happen to have the best warranty policy because your warranty will still be valid even if you open the GPU and modify it as long as you didn't damage the GPU itself. It's a shame they're gone, I only wish for other companies to follow EVGA's footsteps. I've lost 300$+ for a warranty that I could never use, Its like giving them money for free and it's not even for charity.
