Avoid Cameraworld: A 10-Day Customer Service Nightmare
Avoid Cameraworld: A 10-Day Customer Service Nightmare
I should have believed the minority 1-star reviews on Trustpilot. I took my chances, and I regret it immensely.
I ordered a Peak Design Tech Pouch which was on sale. The item was dispatched the next day, but that was only the beginning of a nightmare.
What I actually received was a Peak Design Tech Pouch (Small) instead. I followed the website instructions to call their "assistance line" (which is also their Stevenage store). However, for two consecutive days, the phone was never picked up and went straight to a full voicemail box in the afternoon. I also sent emails to both their sales and support email addresses, but needless to say, they were never answered either.
Left with no choice, I called their London store. The staff member there was helpful enough to locate the wrong order, but there was literally nothing he could do other than leave a message for the Stevenage store to follow up.
On the third day (a Saturday), I called the Stevenage store again. To my surprise, the call was finally picked up. After I briefly explained my situation, the first response I got was, "Did you order the wrong item?". It was incredibly frustrating to receive such a response after all the calls I had made and emails I had sent. The gentleman then followed up with, "There is nothing I can do on a Saturday," so I had to end the call reluctantly and try my luck again during the week.
On Monday, the call went through to the Stevenage store again. I explained the wrong order once more. The gentleman replied that he needed to check with the colleague who had handled my order and promised he WOULD get back to me. Obviously, no one did. I had to call again on Wednesday just to get this settled once and for all. Not to my surprise, the normal-sized Tech Pouch was already out of stock, and I was not offered any alternative despite the mistake being entirely on their side. I was forced to pay an extra £4 to get a different colour of the Tech Pouch, which made the price barely any cheaper than buying it on Amazon—where I could have expected a much more reliable service.
I was given a DPD return label. I returned the wrong item immediately, and DPD delivered it back to Cameraworld the next day. Yet, I had to call them yet again to confirm that the correct item had actually been dispatched. I waited anxiously for two days. Since I was not given an option to select a safe place for delivery, I had to take a day off work on Monday just to ensure I was home to sign for the parcel.
I finally received the item today. 10 days of delay, endless hassle, and pure frustration.
I chose to pay the extra £4 to swap the item rather than requesting a refund only because I feared a refund would take even longer and cause more suffering. Now that I finally have the item in hand, I can write this to warn everyone about my horrible experience.
This taught me a valuable lesson: never ignore the minority negative reviews on Trustpilot. Avoid at all costs.
I’m very happy with the Sony camera…
I’m very happy with the Sony camera itself, but the buying experience was disappointing.
The website showed the camera as **in stock**, so I paid extra for **next-day delivery**. However, instead of receiving it the next day, I had to wait **more than 7 days**. During that time, I was repeatedly told that the order would be shipped "tomorrow", but it kept being delayed.
This was very frustrating because I had already paid for the camera and needed it for planned video shoots. If the item was not actually in stock, this should have been made clear before I placed the order.
The camera itself is excellent, but the delivery service and communication were far below my expectations. I hope the store improves its stock accuracy and keeps customers informed more honestly in the future.

Placed an order for a lens listed as in stock for same day dispatch. Was called to say they had no stock should be in the next 2 to 5 working days. Disappointed but these things happen. The fact it was out of stock never updated on the website. The lens did arrive within the stated time frame and was well packaged.
Ordering was easy
Ordering was easy, the whole experience was straightforward and a pleasure. Would highly recommend.
First class service
I ordered an "open box" Canon R5ii, online, at the end of June. Unfortunately that item had already been sold. I was however delighted that CameraWorld honoured the sale at the “open box” price but sent me a sealed box camera. It is a gesture I will not forget. The new camera was delivered within a week.
CameraWorld has always been one of my “go to” retailers for choice, service and value for money. I bought my first ever digital camera (in store) from them in 2005 and my Canon R5 (online) in 2024 - amongst other items.
I can recommend CameraWorld with confidence. I will definitely be using them again in the near future.

Unreasonably hard to cancel an order
A week ago i made an order for the Lumix S1IIe body. The item turned out to be a preorder for restock that comes at a later date. I did not realize this at the moment of the order, so the next day I contacted the business with a cancellation request. I've been calling them every day since, I keep hearing about the cancellation department needing to approve my request, or that they are going to ask if the cancellation department processed my request.
More so, they had an easy option of just not claiming the payment, and it would have reverted by itself, but meanwhile, the payment was claimed by the merchant.
So beware that it's really hard (at the time of writing, nigh impossible) to get your money back from them.
I’m pleased with my Cokin Modular Hood
I’m pleased with my Cokin Modular Hood. It was delivered fairly quickly and it’s a genuine product.
It would be good if you stocked more from the Cokin range of filters as they are difficult to get now. Thanks.
