Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 231 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Visitors frequently mentioned that the terminal is far too small for the heavy passenger volume, leading to severe overcrowding. Travelers faced frustratingly long queues at security, expensive parking fees, and overpriced food and drinks throughout the facilities. Additionally, consumers noted the exhausting walking distances between the gates and passport control, combined with a severe shortage of available seating. Some reviewers were happy with the special assistance staff, describing them as dedicated, respectful, and genuinely helpful during their trips. A few other people also felt that certain team members went above and beyond to make their journeys smoother.

My grandson

My grandson, partner and their little boy, were due to board their flight to Morocco this morning, checked in with suitcases etc, told by check in assistant that they had to be at gate 30 minutes before flight was due for take off, which they were, then told gate had closed 10 minutes earlier so 40 minutes before departure, refused boarding with a 5 year old excited little boy on his first flight after a very traumatic year, bags taken off and told they had missed their flight which clearly they hadn’t. They are now on route to Manchester airport for another flight, not the best start to their first family holiday as they have now had to pay over £1500 to get an alternative flight. Shame on you Bristol Airport for misinformation and ruining the start of a much needed holiday if only you knew the trauma you have caused 😡😡😡 We will be taking this matter further.

Bristol Airport is an absolute…

Bristol Airport is an absolute shambles. There are never enough staff on security, so you’re left standing in long queues before you’ve even started your journey. Then on the way back, you’re expected to walk what feels like miles, constantly going up and down stairs and in and out of different parts of the terminal. What’s that all about?

It’s definitely not user-friendly, and compared with other airports, Bristol comes up well short. Plenty of airports manage passenger flow far better, making the whole experience quicker, easier and far less frustrating. Bristol Airport really needs to up its game.

What a miserable, dispiriting experience.

What a miserable, dispirting, expensive, congested experience it is seeing someone off at the airport.

The airport is ugly. The tarmac outside the terminal is cheap. The carpark is £13. The signs warning of £100 fines for stopping are angry and foreboding. The lack of a train is crazy. The queues in departures are long.

I would rather travel to Birmingham or Heathrow.

ID challenges

The irony of my ID be challenged by someone whose standard of English was so poor I had to ask them to repeat their request several times is not wasted on me!

Neither is the fact that they then made sure their own ID was hidden in the hope of me not making a complaint against them, wrong!

Formal complaint to the CAA under consideration!

Needs air-conditioning

Europe is the continent with least days per year with temperatures above 30 degrees, but it is the continent with the highest death toll due to the high temperatures. The UK and France top the list of highest number of deaths. Bristol airport needs air conditioning. Also, at least one of your special assistance staff members is racist or overall just not a very nice person. I am disabled and was offered a shrug when I asked for help. Security check was fast.

Just awful

What can I say, it’s hard to put into words how awful this airport has become, starting with a lack of public transport infrastructure, to poorly trained staff that treat the customers in a degrading and unprofessional way. The value for money is so incredibly poor, from the moment you enter the facility everything is so over priced with little to no value for money. Their drop off and pick charges exceed Heathrow, you are made to walk unnecessarily long routes and the internal infrastructure cannot manage busy periods. This is one of the worst airports I’ve had the unfortunate experiences to use. Collectively to those who run this airport you should hang your heads in real shame!!!

Expensive parking Horrible Airport

Expensive parking, 45 mins to get from parking to terminal, no seats in terminal, dirty toilets, bus ride from airport to plane, slow passport, checks and up down stairs everywhere. Horrible airport.

Too busy with not enough info

Just returned from Bristol Airport and never again. What a fiasco from start to finish! Queues everywhere, even in the early hours. Over priced parking, and everything inside the airport. Aircon was pretty non existent, making the airport so hot..getting to the plane was a nightmare. Having to stand outside waiting for the bus with no shade. Flights were good and on time but getting back to baggage collection was worse than Gatwick. With 4 adults and 5 children the walk up and down stairs through what felt like a rat run was awful.. the old man who was sorting car keys out for parking was rude and horrible customer service. He really needs some training. Anyway, won't ever be going from Bristol again

I drive 2 hours to Heathrow to avoid…

I drive 2 hours to Heathrow to avoid this airport regularly and I am not a man who lives to drive.
The place is vastly overcrowded. The design is poor. The security cue is a rip off. Almost everything about the airport seems designed to make the journey as miserable as possible.
I hope and pray they can expand and do something about the mess that has to be one of the worst airport experiences in the UK.

The only reason 1 star is given is it’s the only way to get a flight to my destination.
Parking is extortionate , as is dropping off, so overcrowded when inside which is surely a high risk situation.. Unable to sit anywhere due to sheer numbers of passengers , with many having to stand or lean on walls, no concern for elderly or vulnerable passengers comfort, expensive outlets for refreshments and overall a very poor experience.

Disappointing and very badly organised.

We used Bristol Airport about 10 years ago and thought what a great airport. Easy to navigate and spacious.
However on using this Airport for a return holiday flight last week thought it was awful. On our departure flight 17/06/26 Security checks badly organised and slow, restaurants all full with people using the seating to wait as very little general seating. On our return journey 27/06/26 the wait for Border control was from the runaway drop off through numerous corridors, stairs up and down just appalling!
Also traffic congestion leaving the airport very slow and awkward.
Will not choose this airport again!

This airport used to be user friendly

This airport used to be user friendly. Not any more.
Not enough seating, ridiculously long walks to the gates which include stairs. Shocking design!
When you return they might put you on bus from the airplane.
So last night our flight was two hours late. When we landed there were no buses available for ten minutes. Then a bus turned up. You'd think it would drop you near to the passport control. Oh no! Dropped off for another long walk with more stairs- so dangerous with people pushing and all their bags. Then a great queue at passport. Some e-gates closed but made to wait for them despite some of the passport officers sat in their booths twiddling their thumbs. This was at 2.30 in the morning!!
Then eventually we went to the taxi office which I had pre booked. We were late but they had my flight number. Had to queue behind several people who hadn't booked. Only one staff.
Then waited for the driver to walk from the transport hub despite being messaged with his car information. What a complete waste of time! There should be an office in the transport hub where you can register your booking at a machine. But instead there is a grotty cabin . Yuck!
If this is progress I'll stay in the past please!

NEVER AGIAN

We as a family travelled with Jet2 from Bristol who were remarkable with their service and efficiency, totally blew our mind. However after our speedy check in it all went down hill. Bristol Airport staff are non existant, No information desk about the airport. Ladies and gents toilets at both ends of the terminal prior to security shut off due to cleaning and maintenance. Little or no seating available around check in areas unless you sit in a coffee bar etc, which you need to pay extortionate prices for a simple drink. attended the Bristol airport luggage desk near arrivals to purchase an adapter and the lady behind the counter had her head in her hands playing a game on her phone. proceeded to security which was very lengthly and arrived in the departure lounge and "Oh My God" I could of cried, no seating, people sat on floors, bars chocca block, so we stood for over 1 hour 50 minutes until one of my children started to feel unwell and we had to sit on the floor. no air conditioning, i dint want to board, I just wanted to take my family home. seeing the friendly jet2 team at the gate lifted our spirits.

Bristol Airport seemed to be money lead with NO customer care from the staff of the airport we saw..... Sorry Bristol, NO MORE.... Just booked our next holiday with Jet2 from Birmingham to avoid such a disgrace. I wish I had a pleasantry for your airport but I dont.

Dirty toilets

Long corridors, stairs lead up and then down and up again. There are no escalators. Disinformation about gates. Poor air conditioning. Very expensive parking. The toilets are dirty and smelly. The messages are loud and incomprehensible. Horrible Airport

Do yourselves a favour… miss this airport at all costs. Limited seating, limited restroom facilities and when you do find a toilet (that isn’t broken), it’s disgusting. Car park is good though! Will never use again.

Amazingly on the way out to Majorca on…

Amazingly on the way out to Majorca on 14/6/26 I have a straight face review on the machine instead of several angry faces. Early flight, still the same carnage but at least the staff were marginally more polite when my liquids were tested and it's for our safety so fair enough. A smile would be nice. On the way back horrendous - they are "improving" so miles to walk and stairs to climb, no lifts in sight - apparently you have to ask on the plane if you need assistance. I don't need assistance, I have COPD so can't climb stairs but am not disabled and this should be made clear. Parked in Silver Zone where buses used to stop outside - not any more, more walking to the Transport Exchange or similar, lugging our bags, to find more queues and a woman screaming at us to find our green ticket. Finally collapsed exhausted on a Henry Moore-style bench outside Silver Zone reception while my husband went in to retrieve car key and was burnt through my dress by the boiling hot material - those benches are dangerous. Bristol Airport never learns from feedback and seems to seek to make the whole experience longer, more laborious and difficult
