Would not use them if they were the…

Would not use them if they were the only place that had what I need they ripped me off to the tune of £58.20 when told they don’t take consumables back after there salesman told me to order extra and return for a credit what I did not use, returned equipment (floor sanders) and unused consumables shop took them but no paperwork was given due to Covic19 waited a week made contact for refund and they told me to wait at least 30days but it maybe up to 90 days when I contacted them after 30 days was told we don’t refund consumables so you’re not entitled to a refund when I told them that they told me to order more than I needed was told hard luck you should have read the update on the website (the one there own employee didn’t know about ) after several emails had no response from them stopped off at the hire shop (Moulton Park Northampton) only to be told we don’t take them back but I said you did was then told we would have put them in the bin (and resold them ) very unhelpful man basically told hard luck so a job that should have cost me £85 cost£150 not happy will pursue it further and will write as many bad reviews in as many places so other people don’t get ripped off by them I work for a National forklift company and if I treated my customers like they did I would not have a job

Do NOT hire from these guys!

Terrible company! We booked a sander a week in advance and on the morning of collection I was called at 8:30 to say they didn’t have the tool available. When I asked why I was blamed. I got told because I booked it online, they weren’t aware of thenhire and should have called to check???? I was then told, the man who was renting the tool before me was supposed to deliver it back today at 9:00. I’d get a call at some point when it was available... My husband had taken the day off especially to do this work, so I called back at 10 and asked about progress. I was then told that it would get sorted and they would send out for a sander at another store. By 12:30 the collected sander was ready. We picked it up and started using it at 1:30. By 2, the sander had malfunctioned and gouged out many holes in the floor. Clearly this machine had not been checked and the screws were bent leading to them working their way out of the belt during he vibrations of use. I called the shop and we were blamed. We returned the machine and the screws were changed... and then we had no further issues. We only received a working sander by 4:30, and had to recite serious gouged in our wooden floor, it’s no offer of compensation or even acceptance that it was their fault. But told that it was our fault. This company is absolutely terrible. The man that works at the Andover branch is rude and actually offensive, especially to women. They have no customer service and ask you to be grateful for any poor service they provide. DO NOT hire from them. There is no garantee they will provide the service and the equipment is sub standard.

Wonderful people, brilliant service.

Looking at some of these reviews I cannot help but think the real culprit would be National Tool Hire, the “virtual” hire company you go through.

My experience with their Gravesend branch could not have been more different nor more positive. From Kevin on the shop floor to Holly in accounts, everyone there went the extra mile for me following the complete mess created by National Tool Hire.

On arrival, the machine was there, clean and in great condition and after a briefing on how to use it, ready for us to take away. No hassle, no fuss, just great organisational skill and the kind of good old fashioned customer service which is so thin on the ground these days!

Worth noting too is that National Tool Hire add on a Damage Waiver fee which is utterly meaningless since they warn you you will be charged for any damage to the machine. When I enquired what the purpose of this Damage Waiver fee actually was, I was told it was “just something we have to add on”.

Brandon Hire cover you for accidental damage, plus their prices are FANTASTIC. National Tool Hire took £121.25 off me- the identical machine and hire period at Brandon costs a little over £90.

Now I know where they are and what lovely people they are, I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else now.

Don't rely on this company!

Don't rely on this company!

I hired a plate compactor on Tuesday for over the weekend! The hiring process went ok online, but I couldn't get a hold of any operator to double check that all the order and details were 100%. They instantly took my money, sent me confirmation. When I went to pick up the tool, surprise! They were out of stock! What??????? Nobody has contacted me, or sent an email, anything! I relied on the order and trusted them, my plans were confirmed and the workers I hired to do the job had no tool to use. I lost money and time because I trusted them.
Disgusting and disappointing!
I wouldn't recommend anybody to rely on them!

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. First they screwed up my order and I had to go extra 40 miles each way to puck up the tool. Then they gave me a borer that was not working. I filed the complaint and now I have to wait 90 days so they told me... wow, I have never seen company like that. Communication is awful, they will put you on hold for at least 20 minutes every time you call them, emails are being simply ignored.

Great Service from Rob at Ashford Branch Kent
Hired a Cultivator to turn over the soil prior to new lawn being laid, Rob was very helpful and went through all the controls before taking it away for use, very impressed with the machine and was very reliable and great on fuel too.
We hired the Camon C2000 👍
Thanks Rob

Avoid! get the same equipment elsewhere at half the cost!

I originally booked a floor sanding package with National Tool Hire, not realising they were a Virtual Tool Hire Company or broker, I was to collect the equipment from Brandon Tool Hire but on the day, Brandon hadn't received the order. When I complained to National, they cancelled the order! Rather dumb of them, as I then spoke to Brandon Tool Hire and hired the same package for a little over half the cost! National promised an immediate refund but I'm still waiting. No complaints about the guys at Brandons.

My mistake, choosing Google's first choice.

Update: over a month later I am still waiting for the refund they promised when THEY cancelled the order.

Hired a strimmer from Brandon hire in…rubbish customer service

Hired a strimmer from Brandon hire in Carmarthen that wasn’t fit for purpose
Drove 13 miles north to use the strimmer started it up and it started vibrating like crazy and the engine fell off on the ground
Phoned up to complain and was told to bring the machine back at my cost when they have delivery vehicles £7.00 diesel gone up in smoke and waste of time on retiring item today I requested a good will gesture to get told it was my fault the engine fell off on the ground because I’d changed the blade incorrectly I’d never even touched the machine . What a load of codswallop from this member of staff I wonder if I’d taken the engine off had the blade fallen off aswell . Your engine fell off because there was a bolt missing that tightens it to the shaft simple as that are these machines even checked over between different people hiring them I think NOT or this one was STEVIE WONDER must have done it

Brandon hire station Bath

Hired a demolition hammer this week using the website. I went into the bath branch two days before the rental date to check the equipment was right for the job and the staff suggested I'd need an extension cable and more heads for the hammer and added all free of charge. This ended up being vital for the job.

Then when I returned the tool I arrived just as they had clsed up but they still accepted the return meaning I didn't have to pay extra especially because I was out of town the following day.

Great service. I will continue to hire tools from here.

Very efficient

A simple hire, dealt with very efficiently by Gareth of Poole branch (Ringwood Road). Price was competitive, parking at the branch was very restricted.

Do not use this company. Their failures will cost you a fortune.

After a very casual rental agreement at our local Brandon Tool hire store with delivery and collection included in our quote, Brandons failure to collect the rental item at the end of our hire period has caused nothing but problems. And as a comsumer they will offer you no protection if the item gets stolen, even if you pay an £800 deposit covering loss and damage.
Our 4 hour rental agreement turned into a very expensive 12 months nightmare.

Have a rethink when applying to join this company.

If you are thinking of joining Brandon Tool Hire or any of its subsidiary companies then please think very hard about this.
As a former employee, I can categorically say that this company is not worth the hassle of working for.

On the whole, the majority of the "ordinary" workers are very good and helpful, the trouble starts when you get to senior management.
During my recruitment interview, I was promised certain things which never transpired or were factually incorrect,
(for example, I was told I would be part of and receive a bonus on how many units were sold each month, but when questioned after £50,000 to £100,000 worth of units were sold after 3 month, we were told, "only units sold by the salesperson counted towards the bonus" and we didn't even have a salesperson for our area).

Many times I heard of Managers being told "increase productivity OR ELSE" or "Increase sales in a specialised area OR ELSE", most of the time the general staff are overworked, underpaid and threatened on a daily basis.

If you decide to go to HR regarding this matter, I wouldn't bother, one manager - Kate Davies, Had no clue regarding legal matters or contract law and showed a blatant disregard for employment law or workers rights, instead choosing bullying tactics and unprofessional attitudes to facilitate YOU ending your employment to avoid legal action, not to mention their employment contract looks like it has been "cut & Pasted" by a child but it is so outdated that it contains so many references to outdated laws that it is illegal and you get the general impression that they don't even care about this fact.

Over a 4 Month period, I saw 6 people hand in their notice and leave due to the disgraceful behaviour of senior managers and my advice is keep away and look at other companies when seeking employment.
