BMW CAUGHT FIRE ON ITS OWN WHILE IT WAS PARKED

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint concerning my BMW 520d xDrive Sedan – M Sport (2025 model), which I purchased approximately 40 days ago from Bursa Teknik Oto. While parked and without any intervention, the vehicle caught fire on its own.

After the incident, I contacted Borusan Otomotiv and the dealership; however, I regret to say that they have not taken this serious event seriously, nor have they offered me any apology or explanation. Although my car is fully insured and I have not suffered a financial loss, I have not even received a courtesy call from Borusan.

Moreover, although the vehicle had been subject to a recall from Germany, Borusan had not initiated the recall procedure before the incident. Only after the car burned did I receive a recall notification by text message.

My vehicle had no faults or irregularities prior to the incident. Afterward, I was informed that the car was a total loss, but I have not been provided with any detailed report or explanation. The current value of the car is approximately (210.000 EURO), and it is fully insured.

In my research, I found reports from October 2024 of similar fire incidents involving BMW X, 3, and 5 Series models, and even of a truckload of BMWs catching fire during transport for unknown reasons. This pattern has increased my concern even more.

I am therefore requesting from you and your partner :
- A detailed written explanation of the incident,
- A formal written apology,
- Replacement of my vehicle with a higher model (the 7 Series, since my 5 Series has burned),
- And compensation for non-material (emotional) damages.

I expect an urgent response to ensure this does not happen again and to uphold customer satisfaction. Please treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves.

Serious Concerns Regarding the Quality of the 2024 BMW X2 – Gearbox Replacement twice After Only 6 Months

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the quality and reliability of the new 2024 BMW X2, which I purchased in December 2024. Within just six months of ownership, the vehicle developed a significant issue during acceleration, producing an unusual and disturbing noise. After multiple visits to the service center—where technicians were unable to identify the source of the problem—the gearbox was ultimately replaced twiced as after 30 days of the first replacement the noise came out again so a second gearbox was sent from Germany to Greece Sfakianakis Marousi.

The fact that a brand-new premium vehicle requires a gearbox replacement twice within the first six months is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the manufacturing standards and quality control processes at BMW. This is not a minor defect, but a major mechanical failure in a core component, which severely undermines the confidence one expects from a brand that markets itself on engineering excellence.

Even more troubling is that the service department initially and the second time had no clear understanding of the issue, which suggests either a lack of training or, more worryingly, a systemic flaw affecting the current production line of this model. How probable is it for a new transmission to fail so early in a vehicle's life twice? This raises the question of whether the 2024 BMW X2 production line is affected by deeper quality assurance problems.

As a loyal customer who chose BMW for its supposed reliability and performance standards, I feel let down. I urge you to thoroughly investigate this issue, provide transparency on how widespread this problem is, and take meaningful steps to restore trust in your brand.

I have a 2019 X3

I have a 2019 X3. We lost our keys and had to have it towed to the dealership. We have waited 4 days and still don't have our car back. We are waiting for our key to come in so they can program it. How is this a thing in 2024? This should be an immediate thing once they verify it's my car. It's absurd to wait more than 10 minutes for for a new key. Also, why does it need to be towed. It should be programmed and given to the owner. How is this not a thing?

We bought a new 2023 BMW I7 and hit a pot hole. Which are allllll over the world. That pothole bent our passenger side suspension to the point we had to drive home with the steering wheel at an awkward angle. After we brought it to the dealership they told us that it isnt covered and dont know when the part is going to be available. EVEN THOUGH they are still producing this vehicle. It has been two months and they still dont know when the part will be available. They told us we are lucky that they provided us with a car...... The car is not a bmw and we are still paying monthly payment for the i7 which a $150k car. How is this at all fair? Should have just stuck with the Tesla.

My IX1 1 month old broken driveline

My IX1 1 month old, broke down with driveline failure, waited 2 hours for mobility service to pickup the car. Now the next step is repair estimated delivery of spareparts in BMW Germany June 23, then they need to be shipped to Denmark and then replaced on the car. Mobility service give 3 days rental, then nothing. Been driving Mercedes for 10 year and have I ever regretted anything is it to change to BMW, the service is not worth of a premium brand, even wife's Opel gets better service from the Opel dealership. So now I am stuck with no car for a month.
Don't choose BMW I would have given negative stars if it had been possible.

Coolant hoses for turbos on BMW M550I…

Coolant hoses for turbos on BMW M550I G30 2017 are changed for new updated ones that can dure/take the heat according to certified BMW technician and BMW doesn’t show any courtesy even though the original hoses according to BMWs own technician in the video published on youtupe explains that the original hoses are being changed for an updated version that can dure/take the heat and last - as the old original BMW ones can’t. This is not BMW quality so think again before buying one.

For a company that makes luxurious…

For a company that makes luxurious vehicles ,these vehicles could be a lot less complicated, with all the different modules that the vehicle has.It surely makes it hard ,for the average person to own one ,without the headache . I Owned a 352i so believe me when i say these are very complicated and extremely expensive to fixed. It seems to be one thing ,that causes the entire vehicle to stop functioning and I will put a hole 🕳 in your pocket for the average person, then there is this issue you make updated features yet they still have these crappy radios in them i thing there can be luxury with less complications at least that’s what luxury means . I mite consider owning another Bmw in the future but not in the near one , Toyota is more affordable right now.

My Car was recalled as part of the EGR…

My Car was recalled as part of the EGR issue. When I call BMW Cooper Thames Ditton they told me that I have to wait 3 months for an appointment. Not great considering this was a fire hazard. At the time of the booking I told them I needed a courtesy car to which they confirmed they would provide one upon dropping the car. When I went in drop my car off at BMW Cooper Thames Ditton they said they can’t give me a courtesy car as they had none available. I then went back home and rang BMW UK customer service who advised me that if BMW Thames Ditton don’t have any car on site, that they should have hired a car from Enterprise and given it to me. Finally this happened but I was given a HYUNDAI!

After a couple of days waiting for them to call me to tell me what happened with the EGR replacement, I called them up to be told the EGR needs to be replaced but it would take about 2-3 weeks to replace as they don’t have the parts. Why would you take a car in for repair if you know you don’t have parts for the next 2-3 weeks? It makes no sense. Surely you will plan for worst case. I also ended up having to drive a Hyundai during that period.. And it gets better..keep reading

After waiting another 3 weeks I tried ringing them up countless times and they never picked up the phone and eventually when someone did pick up the phone, they take down my details promising to call back but they have never called back once to date! I therefore had to drive down to the dealership and was kept waiting over an hour, only to be told that they had replaced the EGR but it was from a defective batch and I have to wait a further 4 months for the replacemnt part tro be available. The Hyundai was still the courtesy car. I requested a BMW as a like for like replacement for me to have for the next four months, but this was flatly denied. I paid top dollar for the car and now I have to drive a Hyundai for a quarter of the year.
I tried calling customer servcie to request a like for like replacement and also to get my wife insured on the vehicle. I do not think it is fair for me to pay extra to get her insured especially as she is insured on my BMW at present and also the fact that this is our only vehicle, Lastly I also wanted my service plan extended as I know I will not hit the mileage before the service plan runs out as the car is pretty much off road for the next 4 months. But believe it or not BMW HAVE NOT RESPONDED. They are a good for nothing firm with no repect for their clients.

They don't make them as they used to do…

They don't make them as they used to do in the past.

It's truly a shame that BMW is making crap cars now that break after 2-3 years. I bought a new 5 Series 3 years ago and it broke, the bill would have cost me $4500 in repairs if the car wasn't covered by the insurance.

This is not acceptable to pay a lot of money on a "premium" car and it breaks after 1 year...

After I repaired it, I sold it and bought a 2018 Honda Civic, couldn't be more satisfied with my new car.

Avoid BMW, Mercedes, and Audi, they make crap cars and mark them as "premium"

A friend of mine owns an M5 and after 1 year the leather deteriorated and he paid a fortune on that car, this is not acceptable.
