Messing up my credit AFTER paying off?

Hello my name is Reginald Dortch
I've called multiple times and each time I have to re-explain my issue & I dont get any response via email,mail, or call when its being researched. Back in early 2026 i called in with an agent to pay off my balance he recommended i do it over the phone so it would be quick. Upon doing so i was told I would be getting a pay off letter. Never got the letter. Tried to access my account online and it wouldn't allow me to access the account so I called and the agent then had me continue to go thru with the steps online. After a couple of screens we realized this was having me create a new application so I stopped. That agent then said normally that means the account is closed and they would be sending the letter. Requested a supervisor and I dont believe it ever happend but I do recall receiving this email. Then the latest call I had the agent was also going to dig into what was going on and what was happening with that payment. Since that time I have received no correspondence mail or email and on today 8/29/2026 I have notice on my credit report that this account is late? No call no mail no email but a report on my account that is saying im late when I handled this account I want to say march or april. This is a very serious matter because remarks on my credit affects my credit but it feels like as a company someone missed something and me the customer is paying for what ever issue that didnt close my account out and wont allow me to see any documentation on the account.

Confusing directions on how to make a payoff payment on this loan since they changed up the site. Only help is a useless garbage AI agent.

Take a loan out elsewhere. 401k, whatever. At least real finance companies make it easy to pay off loans.
