Fairly incompetent, jannies with a stick up their ass. You ask for your comment to be approved? In a default subreddit? Get banned permanently while the jannie with a stick up their ass reports you to reddit admins, which are just jannies with an even bigger stick up their ass. They'll then give you a 3 day site wide ban for daring ask their favored moderator to stop censoring discussions without a reason. IDGAF what colloquial term I call them, moderator, mods, janitors, jannies. That wasn't offensive, nor was offense intended. I'm intending offense here, because calling them "jannies" obviously got under their skin. I never intended that offense, but I'm from the old Internet where people discuss things, permabans are reserved for spammers/actual abuse, not a nickname for janitor.

I thought the information on the website is useful, but if reddit admins are gonna ban everyone for using old terminology, it's just censorship and authoritarianism under a different name. Don't expect to get your comments that are shadow removed approved, nor dare ask a jannie to approve it. The mods and admins would rather issue you template responses instead of actually addressing the substance of the matter. Or act "offended" while they mute you for 28 days so you can't even respond. It's bullshit, it's no way to treat a userbase. I've never received an apology nor even consideration from these jannies. L. Garbage experience.

EDIT: I've dropped it down to 1/5. Apparently, reddit considers it harassment to ask for an official response from mods. In a ban appeal. Yeah, right. A mute stick isn't a response, jack ass.

Reddit is really sad both quality wise and in their direction of moderation. Shame as they have a nice platform otherwise..!!

The platform itself seemed quite friendly to me at first. I used network for about a month, rarely engaging in discussions.

The other day, I stumbled upon a group for trading/selling in-game items for a certain interesting for me game between players and posted 'I want to buy'-offer for a specific item.
About 15 hours later, I posted another buy-offer for another item, but the post was automatically blocked by the subreddit - as it later turned out, the subreddit's rules don't allow more than one buy/sell offer to be posted in 20 hours.

I received a warning from the subreddit, but a couple of minutes later, I discovered that Reddit itself had shadowbanned me.
Before I even realized what was happening, I managed to ask a subreddit moderator to unban me, but was told I had no restrictions and that Reddit gave me shadowban.

Reddit won't send you a shadowban notification by email, so you'll have to spend your time figuring out what happened.
The official position is that this is done to combat spammers and bots, but ultimately, a HUGE portion of new users are being targeted.

I filed an appeal against the ban, and I read that moderators can take anywhere from A FEW DAYS TO MONTHS to review it.

This is unacceptable. I don't intend to waste my nerves on a long wait. A reasonable time frame for reviewing such cases should be up to several hours. Although that's still too much.

I'm ending my work with this platform, and given Reddit's complete disinterest in new users, I don't recommend using the network.

The disregard for users is exactly what Reddit deserves from users as well.

Each community is self-governed by moderators who understand the subject matter and enforce rules tailored to that niche. This results in more focused discussions, better answers, and fewer misleading claims. Instead of a one-size-fits-all policy, Reddit allows communities to define their own standards, which leads to more personalized and relevant results for users.

Another key strength is Reddit’s anti-spam culture. Self-promotion is heavily restricted, low-quality posts are quickly removed, and repeat offenders are filtered out. This discourages manipulation and rewards users who contribute thoughtfully. As a result, discussions feel organic rather than engineered. When people recommend a product, service, or solution, it is usually based on real experience rather than hidden advertising.

Reddit also excels at depth over virality. Posts are not limited by character counts, and users are encouraged to explain their reasoning. Long-form answers, technical breakdowns, and detailed personal experiences are common and often highly upvoted. This makes Reddit especially valuable for research, problem-solving, and learning, whether the topic is technology, business, health, or everyday life challenges.

Finally, Reddit’s voting system reinforces merit-based visibility. Useful, well-argued contributions rise to the top, while irrelevant or misleading content is pushed down. While no system is perfect, this approach consistently surfaces better information than platforms that rely purely on engagement metrics.

Overall, Reddit succeeds because it is not trying to please everyone. Its restrictions, rules, and moderation may reduce instant gratification, but they significantly improve content quality. For users who value accurate information, honest discussion, and communities that take standards seriously, Reddit remains one of the most reliable platforms available.

They may have an open platform for non account holders, but if you are a user with half an opinion on ANYTHING, they censor the absolute heck out of you.

Reddit is the only social media account i have ever created, and i lasted 10 days and deleted it.

My family filled me in, their censorship is 10 times worse than Facebook. I have no idea personally, as i don't use the other platforms, but they do, and i'll trust their word.

You are better off NOT having a Reddit account, and just open browse the topics for info. It's trash, like all the other platforms

Saddening to see the current status of what Reddit has become… I have been using it for years, engaging with several communities and building a network of friends too. All of it completely lost in a single moment. Shadow banned and no appeal ever seems to work. My mistake? Presumably using a VPN. Yes, it took that little to destroy years of efforts in helping out people and the communities I loved :-(

I had been avoiding Reddit for some time because the moderators used to find some reason to ban my posts. I’m not a rude person, nor do I ever use foul language.
But I went back recently and began to feel comfortable again. But once more, one of my posts was taken down. So I appealed, and wrote a long text explaining that they had made a mistake and that they should be ashamed of themselves for what they are doing.
I received a reply via email. In it was a box to tap “read review”. So I tapped it, and this is what came up: A blank page with “Page not found” typed on it.

If they are trying to be clever or funny - well I am not finding anything of the sort. It is insulting. If they did not accept my appeal, then they should have said so. Not do this. They really don’t deserve the people who contribute to their site.

I wanted to share my experience with reddit, i am a graphic designer (report designer, annual report designer, white paper, book layout designer, eBook designer) one day ago i create account on reddit, submitted details created banner, display name. created a post about my report designing service, next day i created a second post i submitted my portfolio link, social link, provided email for contact. after this post reddit deleted my all posts and data from my profile. they removed my social link, even i change my display name i can't change it reddit show me error. I really very disappointed with reddit. Now i decided i am going to permanently delete my account on reddit and never will use reddit again.

Reddit is technically broken and support is non-existent.
My original Apple-based account lost its login identity, so I can no longer sign in and never receive password-reset or account emails.

Every new account I create with the same email or providers ends up in the same state:
– constant “Server error” on profile and settings
– posts appear for a minute and then disappear
– “mark as read” and other basic actions fail
– no usable error message, no way to fix or delete anything

I receive no emails at all, no matter how often I request a reset. There is no working recovery path and support simply does not reply.

A platform that breaks multiple accounts in this way, offers no clear explanation, and ignores support requests is unreliable and unusable.

Reddit is no longer what it originally intended to be. It's been hijacked by those who want to spread their own opinions. Open discussions are out of place. As soon as your opinion doesn't fit the narrative, you're banned.

This is not a forum for open and honest information.

Only what the authorities/mods want is true.

this site is so dumb as they banned me when i was inactive in reddit for months, i used to post and answer some question in reddit and when i checked long after i saw its banned like wtf, i didn't do anything but they banned me for no reason and i cant use it anymore

Not pleased at the rate Reddit is closing/banning new accounts. Okay, we understand the platform is filled with bots, but can you fine-tune your bots to stop flagging every account they see as a bot?

Online forums, such as /r/exIglesiaNiCristo, where individuals gather anonymously to criticize the Iglesia Ni Cristo, have spiralled into alarming levels of toxicity. The forum's administrator has failed to address serious privacy concerns regarding individuals featured in images and videos, some of which are even AI-generated. This irresponsible behaviour reflects the creator's troubling narcissism.

Those grappling with confusion and anxiety following their expulsion from the church are increasingly sharing private aspects of their lives online. The destructive potential of social media cannot be overstated. The rampant cruelty and unkindness people inflict on one another, while hidden behind the veil of anonymity, is truly shocking.

Implement a vital "litmus test" for our interactions! "Do you have the courage to stand behind your words with your name and face?" This question challenges us to cultivate integrity and personal accountability in our communications.

I have never seen such a mass blocking anywhere! That is, your account that you have been using for years can be blocked forever without giving you any opportunity to explain why and for what! People, do not waste your time on this site!
